Justin Verlander, Kate Upton’s Boyfriend, Will Face the Yankees With A-Rod On Bench
After losing the first two games of the ALCS in the Bronx, the New York Yankees have the wonderful privilege of facing Tigers ace and expert poon swordsman, Justin Verlander for Game 3 in Detroit.
This lofty showdown has two possible outcomes, and only two: Verlander will either mow the Yankees down for eight dominant innings, all but nailing the coffin shut, or the Yanks will get to Kate Upton’s beau early and often, miraculously giving New York an unexpected sense of hope. However, based on Joe Girardi’s putrid lineup, the latter is clearly well beyond any semblance of reality.
Here’s how it looks: Brett Gardner will finally — finally — replace Nick Swisher and bat leadoff, followed by Ichiro, Teixeira, Cano, Ibanez, Russell Martin, Eric Chavez, Granderson, and Eduardo Nunez. So, despite the nation’s deep desire to witness a blazing inferno, there will be no Alex Rodriguez despite having good numbers against Verlander. Perhaps we’ll see him get a pinch-hitting opportunity in the late innings.
It’s understood that the polarizing third baseman brings a slew of negatives to the table, like his baffling addiction to striking out and his unwavering desire to reside in pound-town, but let’s be realistic for a change. Eric Chavez’s bat was euthanized well over five years ago and Eduardo Nunez is … Eduardo Nunez. Having said that, you can now expect this dynamic duo to combine for at least a couple home runs and a plethora of RBIs. That’s just how it works.

Putrid lineup? Ichiro, Tex, Cano, Ibanez, Martin, Granderson? Somebody’s spoiled.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
i swore off the rest of this series after the last game.
the only other options are the debate and soccer. i’d go to bed, but it’s only 5:45
October 16th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Yes, PUTRID. Granderson is dogshit and Martin’s bat is a joke.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
The Incredible Hernia – you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry
October 16th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
You can’t possibly be serious. Hopefully I’m missing something with the lack of inflection. But if Granderson is dogshit and Martin’s bat is a joke, the joke’s on you.
October 16th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
Granderson overall is dogshit. He hits below .250 and gets a lot of solo homeruns. Big deal.
In the postseason, aside from the one homerun vs baltimore, he has been dogshit
October 16th, 2012 at 9:08 PM
Whst was the ML for this game?
October 16th, 2012 at 9:18 PM
Delmon Young = Postseason Demigod.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:20 PM
1-0. Game over as long as we don’t put Valverde/Benoit in the game. Yankees have been so awful offensively.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:22 PM
I believe I saw Det -190
October 16th, 2012 at 9:27 PM
Jaialai, verlander at 54 pitches through 4. He’ll finish this game off no doubt
October 16th, 2012 at 9:48 PM
Yea I saw that AP. He doesn’t look perfect tonight, but as noted above, thank God the Yanks have a Putrid lineup.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
Speaking of expert poon swordsmen, there’s a guy I work with who used to chase it wild back in the seventies. His nickname from back in the day is “The Cocksman”.
Would love to hear a better version based on John Wayne’s “The Shootist”. It has to be out there..
October 16th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Curtis granderson…what the hell was he doing on that hit? I thought he could run it down.
October 16th, 2012 at 9:52 PM

I’m not sure of any nicknames, but I found out a few weeks ago that a coworker grew up in San Fran and lost his virginity to Grace Slick. The only other name I’ve gotten him to offer is Goldie Hawn. He apparently had a connection with one of the big promoters out there.

i honestly did not expect a complete 180 degree turn from the first presidential debate. wow.

October 16th, 2012 at 10:27 PM

there’s a lot of cold body language to towards mitt in that room.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
I didnt know what to expect from the debates tonite, but whatever Obama showed up last time was completely gone.
Obama was on the attack, saying multiple times to Romney “that simply is not true.”
The moderator had to actually correct Romney on one occasion, and Obama was relentless.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
You guys should read the theft story i linked to…its a solid tale of idiots
October 16th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
I agree, but I believe you should have to actually touch the bag with the ball in your hand for it to count as an out. That vicinity rule is bullshit.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
Obama called Romney out multiple times on immigration, the economy, womens right to birth control, and he even said George W. Bush didnt even want to get rid of medicare and he would be worse than Bush.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:35 PM
yeah, a moderator actually doing what a moderator should. shocking in this modern media.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
Im surprised candy crowley didnt eat the microphone
October 16th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
she did eat a shiny chrome plated one before the debate, confusing it for a foil wrapped chocolate bar.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
So Obama is now trying to pretend he described Benghazi an act of terrorism all along rather than a spontaneous mob that was angry about a Youtube video? Puh-leeze.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
he did call it an act of terror. that’s 100% fact.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Yes, that is what the moderator corrected Romney on, she had the transcript right there.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:47 PM
Romney says he cares for 100% of the people, which gives Obama the opening to remind everyone of the 47% comment.
Romney said drilling has decreased under Obama, actually it has increased.
He said he believes individuals should be able to make up their own mind about contraception, ummm, thats not what he has been saying.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
The ENTIRE administration for DAYS claimed that the video was to blame for the attack and not an organized terror plot by well-armed terrorists. No debate there.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:49 PM
FOX News calling it a draw. LMAO.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
read it. enjoy it. notice where the president calls it an act of terror. have a drink, go to bed, and try again in the morning.

October 16th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Obama also incorrect regarding the cut in oil drilling permits.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Pull your pants back up. There’s a pretty good baseball game on.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
Debate moderator Candy Crowley interjected during Mitt Romney’s remarks in Tuesday’s presidential debate, saying that President Obama “did in fact” call the attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya an act of terror the day after the incident.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
And Romney is done. Don’t know why he thought he could continue to lie and not expect Obama to fight back. Made a big mistake thinking this would be the same guy from Denver.
Obama won this as much as Romney won the first one. Mittens looked rattled, inauthentic and petulant. Game over.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
i thought the yankees put up the white flag after the last game?
October 16th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
So does that mean I should bet the over or under on the Lions vs. Chicago next Monday?
October 16th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
i didn’t expect Romney to speak so fast and furious like he did an 8ball before going on stage.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
No debate there? Other than its false?
October 16th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Nope, they benched him tonight.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:57 PM
Romney did have one good section, hitting Obama on what he said he’d deliver and didn’t. Of course, Obama did deliver on a ton of promises, but if you campaign on something unrealistic and don’t do it, criticism is fair game.
This complete evisceration of Romney by Obama begs a serious question, however – why the hell didn’t he do this in Denver? What was he thinking?
October 16th, 2012 at 10:58 PM
Obama used the word “terror” only as a descriptive word that is always the case when someone is attacked by a mob and dies. He balked for days and days afterwards when specifically asked if Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Have you all forgotten that he and his cronies blamed that mean and insensitive Youtube video?
Obama still has no answers when Romney rubs his face in the economic numbers.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:58 PM
InTrade has Obama up four points after the debate….exactly what Romney gained after Denver. Take that for whatever sliver its worth.
October 16th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
I keep forgetting that debates don’t matter.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:00 PM
Oh fuck. Not you too….
October 16th, 2012 at 11:02 PM
what do you want him to say? “this was an act of terroristic terrorism, to strike terror in america. terrorists. ”
how more descriptive can he be?
October 16th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Jimmy, it’s over dude. Your man got his shit pushed in. Romney was considered by many to be an inauthentic liar and any gains he made on that front (gains made mostly by lying in Denver) were wiped out the second the fucking moderator told everyone he was lying about Libya.
Amazing that both liberals and moderates could admit that Obama lost pretty bad in round one. Yet the righties are already screaming liberal media bias and other nonsense. It’s done. He lied (a lot). He got caught (once).
You’re so worried about Libya that you’re forgetting what’s more important – that Romney was rattled, petulant and frequent beaten almost all night. He looked as unpresidential as possible, a private school brat whining to the teacher that Barry got more time on his test. Porr optics, poor performance.

Maybe use the word more than once at the very end of a speech? Maybe not send Susan Rice to every TV outlet that would listen to say that the attack was about a Youtube video rather than a concerted attack by terrorists? Maybe say, “Yes, this was the work of terrorists” when asked, “Was this a terrorist attack?” Stuff like that.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
Jimmy, do you really think someone named Susan Rice is going to be remembered tomorrow? Or will it be Candy Crowley calling Mitt Romney a liar to the sounds of applause? All Obama has to do is play the clip of that Rose Garden speech over and over and over again.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:08 PM
Queefer – you’ll forgive me for not taking your word for it this time. I believed you two weeks ago when you said this was over because the polls said it was over….things are much tighter now. I believed you when you said 1,000 times that debates don’t matter…Romney stomped Obama and people noticed. Now you’re saying it’s over yet again. You should know by know not to be so definitive about these things, especially given your track record.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:08 PM
How about a glass of shut the fuck up with the politics?
October 16th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
that’s cool, but when your line of attack is the president not calling it an act of terror you gotta get your facts straight. RMoney got flustered and got caught up in a gotcha moment.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:11 PM
A.P. – Feel free to skip over the parts you don’t wanna read.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Romney definitely mishandled the way he handled the Benghazi issue. Got too caught up in the word “terror.”
October 16th, 2012 at 11:14 PM
Fox News “undecided voters” say Romney won, so there’s that.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:14 PM
Gallup, CBS, CNN, PPP polls have Obama winning big. Hey, there’s still another debate. And it’s forgien policy.
October 16th, 2012 at 11:14 PM
overall i think romney had a good start, but he got flustered easily when obama came out more aggressively than anticipated and hit him on issues he wasn’t prepared for.
a lot of good cbs programming is being preempted next monday, a good audience will see a good show.

I`m sure that has nothing to do with Libya though being that it`s in a speech about what happened after Libya. Brah is semantics all you got when describing an action inside a country you don`t care about. Massachusetts so grateful for Governor Romney’s tenure that their voting 57% in favour of Obama. He used more federal money than anyone else running the Olympics. He has no details for his 59 point plan regarding taxes and I tried to read it, I’d have to use Bush torture tactics to get a straight fucking answer. When asked about gun violence he blamed single mothers which is fucking terrific because women are more likely to vote and won the election for Obama in ’08 those magnificent creatures. October 17th, 2012 at 7:43 AM
I felt Obama won this debate, but not by the landslide everyone is saying. It could be that folks were just thrilled that Denver Obama didn’t show up. Although I thought the president was in for a long night on the first question. Romney all but guaranteed he’d find Jeremy a job. Meanwhile, Obama busts out his greatest hits. I wish one of them would’ve had he stones to ask, “what’re you majoring in, Jeremy?” and tailor the answer to that. But I digress. I thought Obama won this one, not by the same margin as Romney in the first one.
October 17th, 2012 at 8:10 AM
The debates are playing out like a sales pitch for Romney. The first debate he was able to throw things out there that sounded good. People had such low expectations of him, his energy carried him through. The second debate he was challenged on the things he was selling, and he slowly fell apart. I wish the debate went another half hour. He was shown to be one dimensional.
