Heisman 2012 Power Rankings Week Seven: Smith Still Top, But Manziel Putting Up Huge Numbers
Geno Smith [QB- West Virginia] He moved closer to the pack, but the pack has not moved much closer to him. If RG3 survived three losses in four weeks and throwing two picks in a 35-point loss at Oklahoma State, Smith can get through his Texas Tech game, especially with a 25-0 TD to INT ratio still intact. Should he reassert himself against Kansas State at home next week, the Lubbock memory will fade.
Collin Klein [QB - Kansas State] The Wildcats keep winning and people love them some Optimus. His passing numbers are efficient. He has consecutive 100-yard rushing games and seven total touchdowns the past two weeks. He’s at the forefront of a not quite robust challenger field.
Braxton Miller [QB - Ohio State] Offense was not Ohio State’s issue against Indiana. Miller threw for 211 yards, ran for 149 yards and scored three total touchdowns. He’s more talented than Klein, but will have fewer opportunities to showcase it nationally. He needs massive performances against Wisconsin and Michigan.
Manti Te’o [LB - Notre Dame] The Heisman is about stories. Manti Te’o's is not going away. Much better than last year when he was the second best MLB in the country? Perhaps not, but as long as Notre Dame stays nationally relevant he will remain in the spotlight.
Johnny Manziel [QB - Texas A&M] Johnny Football! He’s exciting! He’s on pace to throw for more than 3,400 yards, run for 1,400 and have 48 total touchdowns…as a freshman! He had 576 total yards and six touchdowns against Louisiana Tech last week! Manziel faces a far rougher second-half schedule, but deserves his praise at this point!

I like how you continually pretend like PSU doesn’t even exist. Have you seen Wisconsin play football this year? Terrible.
Unless you were just assuming OSU was going to lose in Happy Vally and Braxton was going to struggle, which is what is going to happen.

Smith might be dismissed after a second loss but why would klein be? First loss and he’d lose putting up big numbers vs that fleafense

Manziel seems like an impossibility but I do like the idea of a freshman winner. Especially if he ends up kind of terrible for the rest of his career. Wins Heisman, gets benched is the kind of story I’d like to read
