ESPN Radio Host Who Tweeted Desmond Howard Should “Get Fired or Die” Suspended Indefinitely
All, College Football, ESPN, Jerks October 16th. 2012, 3:24pm
Scott Torgerson, the Columbus ESPN Radio host who expressed his wish Desmond Howard would “get fired or die” so he can watch GameDay again, has been suspended indefinitely. It’s not clear when or if he will rejoin his show “Common Man and The Torg.” Sadly, clowns like “Torg” are all too common.
Kirk Herbstreit, who works with Howard on GameDay and hosts a show on the same station as Torgerson, had a measured and poignant rebuke for his colleague.

Possibly the prototypical name for a talk radio show that has no reason to exist.
October 16th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Oh dear god there is no way that’s her actual name is it?

Desmond should be fired. But this radio guy is a moron.

What’s it to you?!?!/

A sincere, on-air apology should have been enough. Not saying silly stuff in the future would be even better.
Suspension is immediate knee-jerk response expected, but a change of behavior would be a better long-term solution.

Isn’t use of the tags “ESPN” and “Jerks” on this post redundant?
October 16th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
It was a joke….But seriously, Desmond makes that show unwatchable.

Also, wouldn’t Herbstreit’s time be better invested in wishing that Brent would get fired or die?

Thestate of Columbus sports radio – Herbie gets and hour a week (used to do a drive time show), Spielman gets like 15 minutes a day (used to do 12-3). Not saying they were the best radio – though Herbie was pretty good – but they were local and they generally concentrated on local and Ohio teams.
Now we got these two dudes, one from Minnesota and one from Chicago who care less about Ohio teams and talk mostly about hockey and wrestling.

And Howard is bad. Not Emmiff Smiff bad, but bad nonetheless.

Listen to a podcast or NPR instead, your blood pressure will plummet.

Satellite radio. Radio in the 614 is awful.

christ, remember when that show had nick lachey and desmond howard? made me want to carpet bomb african orphanages.
October 16th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
They’re fucking awful, albeit typical. Every hour is a new run of faux outrage. I’ve pretty much jettisoned sports talk radio and ESPN from my life and am quite happy.

Can only assume all the talking down of Howard while giving Lee Corso a pass is based solely on racism
October 16th, 2012 at 3:56 PM
I know they’re gonna read this and say that I must listen becasue I know what they talk about. Here’s when I listen – when they talks to Spiels. After that (and before) it’s Outlaw Country or BB King’s Bluesville.

Corso’s entertaining and the final pick dress up is delightful.
October 16th, 2012 at 3:59 PM
Post-stroke Corso is painful to watch, but like your racist grandfather, you look past it because he’s old.
/I don’t see Desmond climbing into that leprechaun suit
October 16th, 2012 at 4:16 PM
I blame John Cooper for not recruiting better in OH. It started this whole mess.

Corpso>>>>Howard>>Holtz
As much distaste I have for Howard, it’s still better than parading Holtz’s jolly ass out there every week
October 16th, 2012 at 4:43 PM

October 16th, 2012 at 4:54 PM
He could’ve done a Louis Green and gotten fired AND died.

I was shocked to find out that an African-American football player is married to a white woman who has a messed up name.
