Monday Night Football: Manning Face versus Rivers Face as Denver and San Diego Face Off for AFC West Lead
Denver and San Diego will meet with a chance to grab first place in the AFC West. Denver has played the much tougher schedule to date, with trips to New England and Atlanta plus the loss at home to Houston. Both teams beat Oakland, though the Broncos did so far more convincingly. San Diego was embarrassed at home and lost at New Orleans, and also boasts wins over bottom feeders Kansas City and Tennessee.
The schedules even out over the rest of the year, so this is a pretty big home game for San Diego. Lose it, and they will be tied with Denver after squandering the early advantage. If Denver loses, they have two games to make up in the standings, though they do get the home rematch later and just need to keep it close.
If you want to know who the winner is, just follow the faces. You are bound to get a few Manning and Rivers faces during tonight’s action, and it won’t be hard to tell who is winning even if you have it on mute.

I hate how I end up with Derpface Rivers every goddamn year in fantasy.
/I know it’s my fault for repeatedly drafting him
October 15th, 2012 at 7:41 PM
Donkeys by 10. Book it.
October 15th, 2012 at 7:43 PM
if rivers scores 26 yahoo points i’m going to jump out my window
October 15th, 2012 at 7:44 PM
I’ll be watching this on needles and pins. Wanna see the Bolts win, so I can see the locals in the Spgs express their rage tomorrow.
There is nothing, nothing like driving around Colorado after a Broncos loss. If SD wins, I may wear my Lance Alworth jersey tomorrow…
October 15th, 2012 at 7:47 PM
SROD you live in the Springs? I’m sorry. So sorry.
October 15th, 2012 at 7:51 PM
Charlie, actually it is a pretty nice town. Especially if you have a significant other. It’s a couples’-oriented town. Singles, especially middle-aged ones, are pretty much flotsam.
Actually, I’m pretty much ready to move outta here. A change would do me good.
October 15th, 2012 at 7:53 PM
I live up north and only pass through that place on 25. Garden of the Gods and Air Force Stadium are cool, the rest just seems like meth and military.
October 15th, 2012 at 7:56 PM
Well, you know what I mean…hahahahaha.
October 15th, 2012 at 7:59 PM
Clearly you have never driven around PA after a Cardinals loss.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:01 PM
Smallie, ya got me there, brotha.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
Well it’s pretty much the same as driving in PA at all other times.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:15 PM
We just need more Jay Cutler face!!!
October 15th, 2012 at 8:25 PM
Srod left you a message in the lisk playoffs post
October 15th, 2012 at 8:28 PM
No one needs more cutler face!
October 15th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Vez, we’re cool, even though you picked the Broncos…hahahahaha.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
Im rooting for the white QB from the South
October 15th, 2012 at 8:39 PM
flotsam
Vocabulary winner.

Good gawd, you’re so racist.
I’m rooting for the Caucasian QB from the South,
October 15th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
Meachem, tripping over the yard line. Sheesh.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
My 12 yr old:
“Phillip Rivers throws like a 5 yr old.”
/Seriously – he just said it.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Perceptive lad. He’ll go far.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Beautiful fall night in north Georgia, all the windows open and …
some jackass is burning leaves. Awesome.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
Perceptive lad. He’ll go far.
Played QB for the first season ever Middle School. e did OK.
Asked the coach after the last game … So, how did your experiment go trying to turn Wes Welker into Tom Brady? His response: “He’s our QB next year, too; get him ready.”
October 15th, 2012 at 8:52 PM
My 12 yr old:

I told a six year old at practice tonight that when he tossed a pass underhanded that he threw like Matt Cassel. Most of the kids laughed. The kid laughed. It was a light-hearted rib. He understood what I meant and threw it overhanded the rest of practice. The kids are smart and/or have fathers that scream every Sunday watching Chiefs games.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Sweet. Good to know the coach has faith in his potential.
The new guy coughing it up for Denver. Hooray.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
KC – fantastic. You win the internet today (sub-planting miz from the mccarron post.)
October 15th, 2012 at 8:56 PM
I hate it when teams settle for 3 in cases like that. Recover a fumble in the red zone? And not get six? Gaaaaaaaaaaah!
October 15th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
Went to Colorado Springs one time to visit an old girlfriend. Fucking love the Mountain Time Zone. Had a great time there, not counting the fact that Focus On The Family is HQ’d up around there.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
Another recovery in the red zone? Now, they gotta get a touchdown. Now.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
Good to know the coach has faith in his potential.
Yeah – good guy. My kid would smack himself in the head every hour if Darryl told him he’d be a better player doing it.
My older son was a really good HS QB so lil bro puts a lot of pressure on himself. Lil bro will be a slot-back or half back more likely.
October 15th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
WTF?
October 15th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
I live about a mile east of Focus, literally just down the street. Got a few friends who used to work there.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
so this is really happening, huh? back to back special teams fumbles? Nice start, Denver.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
what an effing embarrassment
October 15th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
Denver rolling out the “get down big and try to come back late” strategy
October 15th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
KC – fantastic. You win the internet today (sub-planting miz from the mccarron post.)
Thanks. I am now off to see what Mize said.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
If Rivers throws that ball with any speed at all, he walks in. That’s some weak ass stuff Rivers has.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:02 PM
Squawk –
Ok, I saw that. What I notice more is that TBL pulled the photo of McCarron with the three chicks. I wonder why that was removed.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
In HS, he’ll get plenty of touches per game. That sounds like fun.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
Any jab at a bammer is a de facto front runner.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:04 PM
KC – no mystery – one of the girls asked it be removed. they said they weren’t involved in the boob signing. I removed it.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:07 PM
In HS, he’ll get plenty of touches per game. That sounds like fun.
Friday nights are awesome. He’ll be a 7-9 touch per game guy plus punts maybe. Fast as hell. We’ll see – just 7th grade right now.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:11 PM
KC – no mystery – one of the girls asked it be removed. they said they weren’t involved in the boob signing. I removed it.
It’s Tuscavegas – I hope you were wearing rubber gloves.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:12 PM
That was a cadence call on Rivers? Yeesh.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:14 PM
Rivers just having his way with this denver defense.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:14 PM

October 15th, 2012 at 9:16 PM

October 15th, 2012 at 9:16 PM

Oh, just wondering. No conspiracy theory from me. Amazing how fast things get around the internet that she knew she was in that post.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:32 PM
This jeff triplette officiating crew is terrible
October 15th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
False start for a hard count, huh?
October 15th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
Any momentum in this game has ended. Things have run aground.
But, the scenes of the beach look sweet. I wanna go so bad!
October 15th, 2012 at 9:35 PM
Offensive PI on Gates? Dang it.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:35 PM
The only people who are heroes are service men and women. and police.
/
fanatical
October 15th, 2012 at 9:36 PM
Guess no OPI. Poor throw, though. And I thought Rivers’ arm was hurt last year.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Stay classy, Big Ben’s alma mater
October 15th, 2012 at 9:38 PM

October 15th, 2012 at 9:39 PM

October 15th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
Cards have ‘em right where they want ‘em.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
I wish Meth was here to see it. Last night when we joked about GP, it was about stuff exactly like this.
Decker, wide open. Trippin’.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
Srod…with your af experience…any thouggts on what sullinger did that day on the hudson?
October 15th, 2012 at 9:41 PM

October 15th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
Thanks ap
October 15th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
Good stuff Broncos, f’in turnover machine. Peyton with the most pathetic tackle attempt in the history of football.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
Maybe the chagers are different this year..
October 15th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
Chargers…but chagers is how i would have said it as a kid growing up in massachusetts
October 15th, 2012 at 9:45 PM
Stay classy, Big Ben’s alma mater
Looks like a engineering student’s poor idea of a witty joke.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:45 PM
We don’t have enough time or space here for me to rave about what that guy did. Can’t compliment Sullinger enough.
To keep the poise, maintain a reasonable glide path to the surface, to keep the crew focused where they kept panic down in the passenger area, got folk off the aircraft safely after ditching. This guy has major cojones.
They grow ‘em like that at service academies. Sullinger is a proud USAFA grad.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Hunter pence loafed and totally blew that fly ball. Man, he sucks on defense.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Whoops, Sullenberger. Good catch, A.P.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
EU should not have won the nobel peace prize, it should have gone to the inventor of the private/incognito browser function.
Manning will never catch Jake Plummer’s most tackles by a QB record with that kind of effort.
October 15th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
I miss Jake the Snake. When he played, he kept both teams in the game.
October 15th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
/shakes my booty incessantly
October 15th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
BEAT EM DOWN
October 15th, 2012 at 11:53 PM
Great prediction, Lisk; it was a tale of two faces.
