Derek Jeter Got Hurt – I Repeat – Derek Sanderson Jeter Had to Leave the ALCS [UPDATE: Fractured Ankle, Per Joe Girardi]
Derek Jeter hurt his ankle/knee/leg in the 12th inning of Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. We aren’t sure what exactly the injury was, but Jeter had to leave the game with the help of teammates. So now… Yankee Nation holds their collective breath. When the thousands of people who [didn't attend the game / left early find] out about the Jeter injury on Monday, they will likely be devastated.
Update: The Yankees lose. Theeeeee Yankeeeeees lose! Raul Ibanez’s heroics were for nothing!
[UPDATE: Joe Girardi just announced in a post-game press conference that it is a fractured ankle and Jeter is out for the rest of the postseason.]

The strangest game. Empty seats. Crappy atmosphere except for the ninth. Swisher missing a very catchable ball, and then Jeter possibly gone for the year.

I don’t know why Jeter can’t play. It’s not like it’s going to affect his range at short.

ARod should have been the SS upon signing, but the Captain had to have his way. It’s time for the stars to come out of their collective funk if the Yankees are going to take this.
