Notre Dame Beat Stanford on Controversial Stepfan Taylor No Touchdown Call [Video]
Stepfan Taylor scored what appeared to be a touchdown on 4th and Goal in overtime against Stanford. He kept moving and clearly reached the ball over the goal line before hitting the ground. The apparent ruling was that his forward progress had been stopped before he reached the ball across.
[UPDATE: Via Mike Pereira... The timing of the whistle has no bearing on the review. Ref had to watch replay and determine Taylor's progress had stopped before he reached across.]
Our verdict: Touchdown. His legs were still moving forward. He was not tackled. The ball was over the line. Home cooking met the luck of the Irish.

Get thee to a nunnery Huchuli Jr you whore.

I think it was a judgment call by the official. He had no problem calling the play over and Taylor down.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:31 PM
What a terrible explanation of the call. Ref: “There is no excessive celebration penalty because the teams thought the game was over…” – Yes, that’s what everyone was waiting to hear you say.
And then somehow “the ruling on the field stands as called” – what?!?!? had to either be a TD or a fumble recovered by Stanford in the end zone anyways. How can he be ruled down?

The personal foul on a shoulder to helmet hit was also horrible.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:38 PM
Looked like a TD from my couch.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:39 PM
Nice verdict, Ty. Maybe next time look at his elbow. If you listen to the ref explain the call he starts to say “elb–” before he is cut off. I thought TD as well until looking at the elbow.

notice the famous expression “Luck of the Irish” it is not “the overly skilled of the Irish”

Horrible call in favor of Notre Dame, not surprising.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:46 PM
Maybe that parable works at sunday school you perverter of youth but here we have the fucking replay.

Irish do not win without that horrid call
October 13th, 2012 at 7:49 PM
do not? does not? I grammerize the Miami Heat or OKC Thunder good either
October 13th, 2012 at 7:51 PM
There was no way that call was getting overturned at ND when the refs could always come up with some bs judgement call.
In real time I though they stopped him.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:53 PM
What a win. What a defense.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:58 PM
The two non-existent 15 yard fouls on the final drive of regulation let me know that TD run was never going to be correctly called. Fuck ND.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:59 PM
That’s a TD.
October 13th, 2012 at 8:02 PM
what a win for the Irish

Who handles ads the site is trying to sell me a car in German?
/eifling?
October 13th, 2012 at 8:03 PM
Was it a bad call or not? I certainly think so. The Cardinal should have been attempting an extra point to tie the game.

Who handles ads the site is trying to sell me a car in German?
I keep getting one from old ladies telling me they don’t want a young man, they want me.

Te’o way to run off the field like a retard when the play is still going on
October 13th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
Internet ads are based on the type of sites you visit. So I guess we just learned something about the both of you.

Internet ads are based on the type of sites you visit.
So then why are there Nascar ads at the bottom now? I don’t watch/care about/research Nascar.

Now there’s one about Polaris ATV’s and Diet Coke. I wouldn’t look up ATV’s because I don’t have the money for one, and I’m not fat so I wouldn’t be looking up any diet soda.

The Internet never lies.

1. If Stanford recovered in the end-zone on 4th Down, is it still a TD if he fumbled forward?
2. The refs were Pac-12 refs.
October 13th, 2012 at 9:11 PM
Thought it was a TD until I saw the GIF. There’s no way it can be determined with certainty that Taylor’s elbow isn’t down. By the letter of the ‘indisputable video evidence’ rule, no way that can be reversed.

Urban Meyer spends the entire game looking like his heart is going to explode.
And OSU hasnt even lost yet. If he makes it to the end of next year I’ll be shocked.

THIRTY posts today TBL? Good god man
October 13th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
I’ll be disappointed.
October 13th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
I really want to know how TBL can legally get away with putting their logo on that picture. Are you guys actually paying NBC for rights to it?
October 14th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Momentum stopped, he even started going backwards. 90% of the Time Refs call that..
As for the “Home Cooking” comment… Look we know you hate Notre Dame… Me too…. But for fuck sakes you look really stupid saying stuff like that when they were PAC-12 Referee’s….
October 15th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Sorry to disagree TBL. He was stopped and moving backwards. His forward progress had stopped. Not a TD. Go back to your junior college officiating class.
