Cardinals remind me of the Yankees lineups of the late 90′s that used to keep the pressure on pitchers the whole game by working the count every at bat. They’re a tough minded team.

Darrell, early on the cardinals were pitching like crap and the lower part of the lineup was swinging at pitches out of the zone. Cardinals showed guts in coming back. Nationals pitchers showed fragility when ump was squeezing the strike zone. Just as bad as the orioles offense.

Maybe the Cards aren’t this good, but they are stubborn.

Ballpark is quiet. Dang.

Instant analysis – Nats weren’t ready for the big stage. Too many stretches with lost focus.

Overall, due to injuries (Phillies) and dysfunction (Marlins), the door opened this year for the Nats to move up.

Next year, they better get off to a great start. A healthy Philadelphia team and Atlanta being tough as usual means the Nats can’t afford much of a hangover from this disappointment.

Game shouldnt have been this close. Nats pitchers let the ump’s bad strike zone rattle them. Gio wimped out and kept walking people. Jackson struggled. Storen wussed out with terrible sliders in the dirt. Man up. Throw heat
