Not sure if it’s sarcastic, but they just did. It’s so weird. They’ve really fallen on hard time. This is roughly how their career has gone:

weekend night show
weekend day show
weeknight show
Mid-morning show
Afternoon drive time and national syndication deal along with reg. appearance on ESPN
Lose syndication and ESPN deal and move to mid morning again
cut back show hour from 4 to 2
And Finally, fired.

There are still black fans that constantly call sports radio stations here to complain that Falcons should have taken Vick back on the team after he got out of jail. Some don’t like Ryan simply because he is white.

The Bears have reportedly begun talking to Lovie about an extension when he’s not Emery’s guy and that’s probably the right play…not saying you’re not right most of the time but it can work

it can work from time to time, and i’m sure there’s a GM out there who can actually evaluate players and identify starting calibre players the jets should acquire to pair with Rex’s scheme and they live happily ever after.

but normally the guys who get the job with the condition they keep the head coach are either just happy to have a GM job or they will always be hamstrung by the owner in not being able to implement their own system.

More teams should hire GMs along the lines of Jim Finks. He did a great job with New Orleans in the mid- to late ’80s. His one drawback is that he did not insist that Mora hire an OC with a working knowledge of the passing offense.

it has happened, but it’s hardly worked out. Mangini and Holmgren in cleveland most recently i think.

it’s not a recipe for success.

I remember Falcons were seriously considering whether to pick Dorsey over Ryan. Whew, dodged that bullet. Plus it was a weird time, lot of black fans didn’t want to pick a white quarterback.
