High School Football Player Steps Out at One Yard Line So Teammate Who Just Lost His Father Could Score
From USA Today High School Sports comes this inspirational story of a St. Claresville high school in Ohio. A week earlier, freshman receiver Logan Thompson lost his father unexpectedly to a stroke. The head coach and team came up with a plan that if anyone had a breakaway touchdown, they would step out at the one yard line and insert Thompson.
In last Friday’s game, Michigan recruit Michael Ferns broke free for what looked like a 53 yard touchdown run. He stepped out just before the goal line. The officials were so confused by the play that they initially signaled touchdown, but overturned it when St. Claresville protested. They then put Thompson, who had never played running back, in the game to score the touchdown.

Now, if he can lose his grandmother and girlfriend in the same week, he becomes a Heisman front-runner, right?

Only till they find out those “Free touchdowns” were considered improper benefits.

Two questions:
1) video?
2) Did the defense let him score?
