Raul Ibanez Homers in Ninth to Tie Game, Wins it With Walkoff Homer in 12th Inning [Video]
Yankee manager Joe Girardi decided to pinch-hit Raul Ibanez for A-Rod’s criminally flaccid bat with one out in the ninth inning and it paid off huge, as the homer-addicted lizard came through with a solo shot to tie things up.
Naturally, in his next at-bat, Ibanez hit a walkoff home run to give the Yankees a 2-1 series lead. Absurd? Beyond absurd.

2012 Yankee payroll = $197,962,289
2012 Orioles payroll = $81,428,999
The difference between the Yanks and the Os = $116,533,290
Not only is that difference > the entire Os payroll (and by a long shot), that difference is greater than the team salaries of 22 out of 30 teams (nearly 75%) in all of MLB. It’s fucking absurd.

So what this means is that Ibanez should start over A-Rod in the next game, right? Just trying to get ahead of the NY media.

Yes absolutely. But only because Tebow is unavailable.

Big time win. I thought they had a foot in the grave and damn if they didn’t fight to get out of it.
BTW, no one is happier about this than Scott Drew, whose base-running error is now erased from infamy.

I believe BFFredo means Stephen Drew, but it really wasn’t his fault. Gallego, the third base coach, was sending him to third. Gallego should be blamed. Plus, Cabrera, the whale, blocked the entire bag with his leg, which is technically against the rules…and I’m waiting for an ump to finally enforce that damn rule.
Either way, awesome comeback, but you know “the ratings were low.” /TBL’d.

Actually I mean JD Drew. Or Dr Drew. Or Mountain Drew.

All possible options.

Actually blame the As third base coach.

What can we compare its ratings to without football on? Modern Family? I am giddy with excitement…
