In 2009 KY Football Coach David Stinson faced criminal charges in the Death of a High School Football player made to run laps with teammates in high temperatures as punishment for a poor practice. The Coach was acquitted as the Death was blamed on ADHD medication, but changes to state laws were brought about by this tragic incident. Obesity and inactivity in children is on the rise and many children are dealing with health issues that would put their health and safety in grave danger if forced to exercise as school punishment. Why would schools wish to engage in dangerous activities that put students at risk of injury, put educators careers at risk and taxpayer funded school district assets at risk of lawsuits? For my kids it’s devices, ds, iPad, iPod touch. All but their ds’s are mine anyway, but that gets them. Take away tv from one and let the other watch a new movie, that really makes them feel it. It everything else fails they have to sit by me and do nothing for 10 minutes.

The hole in my punishment is that six year olds don’t get tired from running. They had fun.
