I remember when Joe Montana lasted all of 3-4 games on NBC back in the early 90s. That was brutal. ESPN keeps these dudes around almost solely to sniff jocks. They have to be painstakenly bad (emmiff smiff) or busted with drugs (michael irving) for ESPN to get rid of them.

I dislike Stern (the second most overrated commish in the history of sports) as much as the next person, but this scenario of Stern putting the kibosh on Van Gundy is fishy. Wouldn’t ESPN immediately be aware of Stern’s supposed dislike of Van Gundy? I don’t think this is info that would suddenly come to light just as they’re about to strike a deal.

Why would the steward of a billion dollar business gives a shit about a silly studio gig like this such that he would torpedo it?

If you listen to any game, the annoucers are usually hired and paid by the broadcaster, with input including approval, from the team. I’ve always heard this as a disclaimer at the end of the broadcast.

I’m betting the contract with ESPN gives the NBA the right to clear or approve of (1) pre-game talent; (2) game announcers; and (3) post game talent, if different.

I always take the fastest characters possible in fighting games. Anyone who takes Asaroth is a fucking moron.

amen brother re: big and slow.

i think speed is obviously important, but i think reach/power is as well. i like seoung mina because she’s quick, has a huge reach and her moves are easy to spin into combos or attack from any unprotected angle. not a bad counter to raph or the other quick players.
