Sunday Night Football: Chargers at Saints
Drew Brees is about to set a record tonight. I’m not all that excited about it. Sorry. I couldn’t have told you what the record for most consecutive games with a passing touchdown was before the news about Brees and his pursuit emerged, no more than I can tell you who holds the record for most consecutive games with 10+ rush attempts. Throwing one passing touchdown in a game is not a particularly notable feat in and of itself. As Chase Stuart notes, most of the top quarterbacks in the last decade average around 92-95% of all their games throwing at least one touchdown, and most of the misses were in games where they were knocked out because of injury.
We know that Drew Brees is an elite quarterback. This is just trivia. He happens to be the one who has stayed healthy (fewest pass attempts during streak was 23, in a blowout of New England where he threw early touchdowns), and 13 of the 47 games featured exactly one touchdown. (13 touchdowns, 18 interceptions in those games). Just like last year, when we saw several quarterbacks go past 5,000 yards, we will see several stretches of 40+ games with at least one touchdown over the next decade.
Tonight, the Saints would be better served getting a win. Of course, they’ll need to score a lot to do that. If I’m the Chargers, I might be daring the Saints to run on the goal line.

Fuck the Cheating Saints and their “who dat?” fans. Also fuck David Rivers. Hope the game ends 12-9 with al, field goals.
/knows it won’t happen
October 7th, 2012 at 8:29 PM
Need big games from Brees, Sproles and Floyd, bad games for Matthews and Ingram for fantasy.
/nobody cares
October 7th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
Um, Phillip Rivers?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
I’m here for the duration.
Howeva, I do have a question for TBLAD. I’ll mention it if the game is a dud.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
/nobody cares
You ready for my needs that you don’t give a shit about? I need anyone from the Saints to have a big game and everyone from the chargers to not. Tomorrow, Texans need to rip New York a new big green asshole. My wallet is counting on it.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
and everyone from the chargers to not, sorry, SROD.</strong
Forgot that part.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Also forgot to do the bold/quote right. Fuck you bold/quote.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:34 PM
Meth that sounds good to me. I already locked up my work pickem pool this week, $270. Not a bad day.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
David rivers, Phillip rivers….I don’t fucking care.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
I was happier as a football agnostic. Burn the bills down
October 7th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
Atari Bigby, respect unseen. One love, one Jah. Or something like that.
/no disrespect meant
October 7th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
meth, you know no apology necessary. We cool.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
O’s/Yanks is getting majority of the attention tonight, especially once Brees gets his TD.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:39 PM
Here’s why this record is shit–as the RAMS, the worst team in the league, was blowing out NO last year, Payton and Brees kept throwing so he could extend the streak with a TD with 6 seconds left. Fuck him and his fake ass record. I was rooting for a catastrophic knee injury to end the streak. Yes, shitty KC o-lineman, I would have applauded.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:39 PM
Quentin Jammer. One of the best athlete names ever considering his playing position?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:42 PM
Is this the first game in NFL history pairing teams that don’t have a head coach?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
why you hatin’?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
$270. Not a bad day.
Packers screwed me on my big card. The two I’ve got left only need 1 game each to cover, and if they do I’ll break even and cover my loss from last week. So I won’t be seeing $270, but breaking evens better than nothing.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Never tire of Norv jokes. Ever.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Id rather have norvell than chan gailey
October 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
I think that’s a given.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
If Malcolm Floyd can stay healthy, he’s one of the best jump ball WRs in football
October 7th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
So Jared Allen has the sack record?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
SROD, since the Braves have flamed out, I’m rooting for your Nats the rest of the way.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Meacham – go get it, young fella.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
If today’s game didn’t make Bills front office decide to draft a first round QB next year, nothing will. Stevie Johnson was wide open a few times and Fitz overthrew him by no less than 5 yards.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
Nada, you can sit up front on the bandwagon. It’s safer in front of the rear axle. Can I bring you a beverage?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
Orioles crowd is great
October 7th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
do you also think the yardage record is fake, too?
so, how much money has Brees cost you?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
Well, since Favre lay down for Strahan to get the record, I’d say yes, Strahan’s record is fake-ass.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
I love that we’ll have two MLB games on at once. I figure theyll put reds-giants on TNT at 9:30
October 7th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
like stevie wouldn’t have dropped it with his stone hands.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
Enjoy it, that’s his highlight reel for the season.
A milk stout would do nicely.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
A.P., would you rather have Barkley or Geno?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
That hasnt been his problem this year…finally. Its miscommunication on routes. Also, bills play calling is weak-minded.. 3rd and 15, screen pass at line of scrimmage..just a bunch of pussies on that staff. Obvious that they dont trust fitz. Obvious that the other two QBs are even worse. I mean..is Tarvaris Jackson that much worse than Fitz? Can he at least throw an accurate 30 yard pass?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Do the Saints have a first-round pick in 2013, or did they give it up in the Ingram trade?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Nada – out of those two? Geno. Bigger arm, more athletic. Not as reckless with throws.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
October 7th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
Hell, id rather have AJ McCarron from Alabama right now.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
if they do have one, they could be a dangerous team if they get a good player or two out of the draft.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
Further proof that the East Coast media hates New Orleans.
/ Breesus proxy’d
October 7th, 2012 at 8:56 PM
None. It’s a BS, who gives a shit record. It’s a made up media record. And a douche still playing with 30 seconds left in a blowout he caused with his shitty play only to try to keep said “record” alive can go DIAF.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:56 PM
With the Bills luck, they’ll end up with the #7 pick and talk themselves into a wide receiver or something
October 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
every record is a made up media record. why get bent out of shape about it since the saints could be 0-5 after tonight?
October 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
Closer to the truth.
More and more, this is 1980 all over again for the Saints. I feel for Brees, Colston and Sproles the way I felt for Manning, Chandler and Galbreath back then, laboring for a team that is wasting their efforts.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
Nice answer, Brees.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
OK, you got your record. Let’s get on with the game, already.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
This record will be broken several times within our lifetimes. Just the way the NFL is now.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
what makes this more enjoyable is to know there are daunte culpepper miami dolphins jerseys floating around.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
Those guys were entertaining. Loved Henry Childs at TE, as well.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
Nick swisher has a closet full of Affliction shirts
October 7th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
So when a team falls behind, it should bench all its starters and stop trying? Good to know.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
brady is at 37, but with the way the running game is going we’re more likely to see that broken this season.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
The bills dont bench their starters but do stop trying
October 7th, 2012 at 9:02 PM
Could be worse, A.P. You could have a head coach who has totally given up on playing offense.
/ Les Miles’d
October 7th, 2012 at 9:04 PM
That offense was entertaining. That defense was atrocious and the reason they lost 15 games. Dick Nolan trying to play the Flex with the wrong personnel.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:05 PM
Including the Triple Crown, so Miggy getting largely ignored by the media this week is puzzling, since they created the thing.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:06 PM
Yeah, I know he won a national title but les miles gets way too much love. Saban at least gets his QBs to improve.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:06 PM
This week’s classic Les Nessman quote from WKRP:
“Chai-Chai Rod-dree-gwez.”
October 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM
Would the presence of Payton have any impact on the DBs? They’re terrible. Toast or interference or lucky every play, it seems.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:07 PM
Orioles gonna have to score five plus to win tonight.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:13 PM
ok, here’s my question:
I got cock-blocked outside of church today.
Have any of you gone thru similar? How did you handle it? The guy is an acquaintance, but not the closest of friends. And, he is already married.
Thoughts?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:13 PM
Oh SROD, Go nats!
October 7th, 2012 at 9:14 PM
Not from the LSU fanbase, if this shit keeps up.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:15 PM
Jebus Tebow, you are one determined horndog, hitting ‘em up at the House of Tebow’s Dad.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:16 PM
I got cock-blocked outside of church today.
Trying to put the organ in her choir, were you?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:17 PM
This is the thing. Everyone thinks this team would be difference if Payton was in place. But he put this defense together, including the DC. Unless Payton’s secretly Darrell Revis and gets on the field, they’re 0-4 with him on the sideline anyway.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:19 PM
+1
October 7th, 2012 at 9:20 PM
Well, I guess Brees will sit for the rest of the game since his fake-ass record is now ensured.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:27 PM
Thoughts?
Sorry, SROD. I was so wrapped up in trying to come up with something funny about sticking organs in places it didn’t(in said cock-blocker’s eyes) I forgot that you were probably expecting a real answer. I’ve never been in a church deny situation, but I think we’ve all been there in one form (or place) or the other.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
didn’t belong*
October 7th, 2012 at 9:29 PM
“The 49ers amassed a franchise-record 621 yards in blowing by the Buffalo Bills 45-3 on Sunday.
San Francisco also became the first team in NFL history with 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing.”
These are fake records, since the Niners kept playing offense late in a blowout, right?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:29 PM
Guess: Rivers attempts 49 passes; Brees 50.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:31 PM
since the Niners kept playing offense late in a blowout, right?
Maybe I’d be an asshole coach, but if I was a coach, I’d be all about running someone into the ground. This game isn’t over till I fucking say it’s over. And then after the game IS finally over, we’ll go play again in the parking lot.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:31 PM
I’ll take the over on that.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:32 PM
October 7th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
Wow, great toss by Brees. tiny window, perfect placement. looked like a duck in the air
October 7th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
It was almost funny, and I’m countin’ on you guys to shed even more humor & wisdom on it.
Story: I’m in the lobby as service starts. This lady comes up to me with a concern. Seems we had one of those voter guides in today’s bulletin…
TD, Saints. Dang it. You get a FG, they get a TD. Here we go again.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
and on the replay Colston grabbed that with 1 hand! while the other was being held.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
Maybe I’d be Greg Schiano
Good call, man. Good call. I was more so talking about beating the snot out of someone and then not offering them a kleenex.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:35 PM
…so, she and I go outside to talk about it. She felt the guide was pressuring her into voting conservative, and she’s Democrat. As we get outside & start talking, one of the security guys comes up (he’s married)…
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Hope this voter guide was not offering recommendations on how to vote. If so, that’s one church that should lose its tax-exempt status.
That applies both right- and left-wing.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Needs more info, but the VERY first thing you do is ask the guy how his wife is before he even gets a chance to say anything….
any chance he’s just a goob who was oblivious to the block or was it a legit purposeful block?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
It was pretty sweet. Colston has been making plays for a while, now.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:38 PM
How i feel as a Saints fan right now: haters gonna hate.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
Damn, Bailey Quarters. Those slacks couldn’t be much tighter.
There are some things I really miss about the ’70s.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
SROD, this story had better end with either an ATV ride or someone chained up in a sex barn.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:41 PM
How i feel as a Saints fan right now
That was good for a laugh.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
someone chained up in a sex barn.
This isn’t where I parked my car….
October 7th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
(actually, Nada, it was. Which was her heartburn.)
…and as there is a natural break in the convo, the security starts running off at the mouth.
She was smart, independent-minded, knew how to argue without making it personal, and was killer sexy. We were having a great time for a few moments.
Security guy is a goob who was oblivious. I tried to give him the high sign, but he didn’t get it. Plus, he is one of the security guys who conceal-carries while at church. I hit him with a fist, he hits me with a 9MM (LOL).
I am so pissed about it. Second time this year a married church guy has blocked me. Yeesh.
SD driving again, but they need a touchdown this possession.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
Woof. Green Bay redux.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:45 PM
Any church that gives a voter guide in the bulletin is a church i would not return to ever again. Glad my dad doesnt mix politics with what he preaches
October 7th, 2012 at 9:48 PM
And…Orioles have a lead. go O’s!
October 7th, 2012 at 9:48 PM
Sorry to get political, but any church that gets involved in politics needs to gets its ass kicked by the IRS. This includes everyone from Westboro to Pat Robertson to Al Sharpton to United Methodist Church.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
There goes the lead..but Teixeira gets thrown out trying to stretch a double. Sucker
October 7th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
Sux SROD….good clean girls at church….
/Coming to America’d
October 7th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
Your church has a security guard?
October 7th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
Homerun Ludwick! Reds up 1-0 on the giants
October 7th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
Liquor, some bigger churches have guys to help direct traffic and such. Some of these guys get all huffy puffy about things. I dont think a church needs security guards at all but it happens (i’ve only ever seen it at megachurches).
October 7th, 2012 at 9:58 PM
I think every public place in Colorado needs an armed security guard.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
Hell, if football coaches surrounded by dozens of aggresive, athletic young men need police guards, why not churches?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
I find the whole “security guard” thing at church to be unnecessary and inappropriate. A church is supposed to be a place where all should be welcomed. Having a security guard gives off a vibe of “hey, only certain people are allowed in our church”. If there is a problem, thats why you have a church staff and church elders who can deal with disruptions.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
aggresive, athletic young men
Who drank all the GODDAMN Gatoraaaaade!!?!
October 7th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
A church is supposed to be a place where all should be
welcomed.bombed.Fixed for terrorism
October 7th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
You are a terrible person. Lol
October 7th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Find me a church that actually has this mindset, and I’ll start going back to church/
Well, that’s not just a vibe, it’s a mindset.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Now, that’s a church I could get behind.
Oh, wait, you mean bombed …
October 7th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
True. Howeva, my pastor and others have received death threats. After the New Life shooting, lots of churches here in the Spgs have either police presence or plainclothes security. Not to keep folk out, but to keep folk safe.
As an usher, I’m a “sensor”. If I see something weird, I’m to let security know. If I see a nice-looking lady who wants to chat, security isn’t required…heh heh heh
October 7th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Nada, i dont know what its like where you live. My church is definitely that way. We have all kinds of people at our church. Its mostly low to barely middle income families, older folks, and some kids. We have mentally disabled folks, physically disabled folks, uneducated and educated.
I dont like these megachurches that make everything seem like a production and everyone is glammed up. Their priorities are messed up.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Hey, who’s showing the Reds-Giants? Supposed to be TBS, but they’ve got Yanks-O’s.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
SROD, i can understand that due to what has happened in the springs area. Ive just seen it in areas that havent had problems. It doesn’t sit well with me.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
TNT for Reds-Giants
October 7th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Hey, Miss Magdalene, lookin’ fine tonight. Your hubby ain’t around, is he?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Ive just seen it in areas that havent had problems
I haven’t heard of it happening around here. What’s the worst anyone can do around here?
/Smashing pumpkins’d
October 7th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Your punkin just got chunkin’d! Bitch!
October 7th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
More like chunkin’ sted smashing. amirite?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:13 PM
A little off topic, but watching WVU the past two weeks has been both exhilirating and terrifying.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:14 PM
Nada you ever seen those medieval looking jobs they take out there? What do they call them? Centrifugal?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Know whats terrible? Having your radiator hose blow while on I-95 in Wilmington, DE on a Friday afternoon…that happened to me in 2006 when i went to DE for a wedding
October 7th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Know whats terrible?
Being in Delaware? I-95 blows. We call it suicide circle. So many accidents up around there where Philly Wilmington and all that shit meet up. Definitely got to step your driving game up. They don’t call us Lower Slower Delaware for nothing.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
Those are cool, but when they come apart, watch out. Someone was telling me the other day a friend of theirs was at Punkin Chunkin when an centrifuge arm went flying loose, and there were some bloody njuries in the crowd.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Was not aware that the Bolts had cut Jacob Hester.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:24 PM
You a David up in here?
He was productive in his role, but I guess they thought they had better this year. He’s a useful back/part-time special teams guy.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
those medieval looking jobs
They also look like a good device to strap someone up to and get some desired information. Bet somebody’d cough up where Waldo was reeaaaal quick.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
I’d be concerned also. If there’s been no problem, maybe vigilance is the solution instead of overt carrying of weapons. I don’t condone looking for problems. It’s not an easy call to make.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
Nada, AP- our church is like that as well. We have a large trailer park in our town that for the most part is ignored. We started a food/clothe distribution to it- never inviting people to our church- just helping them out with what they need; seriously, never invited them. After a year of doing that, they have been showing up in our church service and small groups. You can tell by the clothes and smell where they are but it’s been great to see. When I became the pastor, that was the first thing I wanted to do- reach out and help.
As far as voter guides- we don’t do them. We don’t print much of anything- we are a poor church and use website/e-newsletter for everything. I grew up seeing them and never cared for them.
About security guards- quite a few places need them, especially with children because most of the time, children/nurseries are separated from the worship service and mostly women there. I see the need for security. In our church, we’ve had to the call the police do to a crazy and can’t imagine what it’s like in mega-churches.
SROD- interesting story. I find it funny, although I feel for you!
That’s probably way more than anyone wanted to know about church in here.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:29 PM
Also, Bridgeville is probably one of the most prime spots in the United States to have a contraption like that blow up (minus the potential injury/death) because you take a look at that place and you’re surrounded by cut cornfields farther than you could see. There ain’t shit around that place.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Fuck gotta get that runner in from third with one out. Big missed opportunity there
October 7th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Eff u, Benson, Loomis and Payton.
If you’d used that bounty money to instead sign some capable defensive players or a coordinator, the Saints wouldn’t be in this mess.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
Grayson, yours sounds like what a church should be.
I grew up with Catholicism shoved down my throat. (Not coop’d or Sandusky’d shoved, BTW.) You were not allowed to ask questions about tenets of the faith. I got out as soon as I made my confirmation and was not required to attend anymore by my parents.
The last straw that saw me break completely from the church was in the mid-1980s. Hurricane Juan flooded something like 100,000 houses across South La. When parishioners turned to the church for help, the response was, to paraphrase, “Yeah, um, we don’t hand out money like that.”
The Catholic Church is sitting on top of one of the world’s vastest fortunes while people of faith starve to death. Fuck those pedophile enablers.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
“Vastest” is probably not a word, BTW.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
“Vastest” is probably not a word, BTW.
Probably more of a word than /Sandusky’d or /Fap and we do that all the time. Actually, I can’t even remember the last time I pulled a Sandusky, or even a fart joke.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
“Ripping ass,” R.I.P.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
same here.
and when i was growing up, at an early age i identified that The Three Stooges was far more interesting than the gospels.
when i was getting confirmed they had a “Jesus Trivia” (essentially) and although i hated CCD with a passion, i did well and answered a lot of questions. I realized after that i was just regurgitating information w/ no context and i felt hollow. i put religion behind me in HS, but when i got to college i thought about it more, thanks to philosophy courses and i’ve ended up as a agnostic/leaning athiest.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Chris Davis! What a catch. Orioles survive that scare
October 7th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Reds up 4-0. They had the second best record in the majors but i feel they still dont get much attention. Dusty baker has done a good job and hasnt ruined his pitchers! Amazing!
October 7th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
Amazes me that Arroyo is still really effective all these years later
October 7th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
Anyone here taken nyquil(seriously, a normal needed dose, not sippin on sizzurp) when you’ve gotta be up in 3-4 hours? If so, how did actually getting up work out?
October 7th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
that’s ‘cus it’s a bullshit media created record.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Meth, bad idea. If you take it, prepare to sleep 7-8
October 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
You know me. I’m 6-4, 240. A normal dose for me will knock out an average-sized person.
Maybe take DayQuil. It’s not supposed to knock you out.
What kinda symptoms do you have?
/the doctor is in
October 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
not well, but nyquil only lasts for 6 hours with me then i’m wide awake. getting up before then is really rough when it’s happened.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Damn. I started getting sick Wednesday and it really kicked in Thursday. So as much as I talked about going hunting, I haven’t even gone yet because I felt like absolute shit Friday and yesterday. Feeling a lot better but figured another Nyquil night might do the trick, but I also would like to get up no later than 4.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Thing is, I could fall asleep within 20 minutes of getting home from work. But I’ve still got a pretty good cough going, and that shit has been waking me up here and there. Nyquil does the trick. And I feel 20 times better than I was, probably just from being able to actually sleep.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
Meth, I’d consider maybe Alka-Seltzer for Cold, or maybe pounding much vitamin C. Hot tea with lemon and honey can help, if you feel congested.
NyQuil knocks me out for 8 to 12 hours, normally.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
This. Today I conmsider myself agnostic, because I cannot say for sure there is no god. But if there is, he is not a loving and caring god; he’s a cruel and capricious god, and nothing I would waste my time on.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
if it’s fever and ache related take advil, normally 3-4 does it for me, gives me a chance to get comfortable.
stuffiness, take some Afrin Nasal Spray
sore throat… no idea.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
This. I’m a hearty fellow, and a regular dose of NyQuil puts me out for hours.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Jeter makes an error..2 men on…chris davis obviously swings on first pitch. My goodness no discipline
October 7th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Orioles blowing so many chances. Can’t keep letting the yankees stick around.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
If you feel unsure about taking NyQuil, for god’s sake don’t watch any reruns of the LSU-Fla. or KC-Bal games. Those’ll put you out for even longer.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Also applies to SROD “ushering” the ladies at Sunday go to meeting.
/ Hahaha
October 7th, 2012 at 10:55 PM
i always figured that if we die and there’s no god, nothing you can do about it. if you die and there is a god, if we were made in his image (how narcissistic is that?) could he blame us for doubting his existence until we had proof?
i always reserve the right to change my mind on the topic anyway, pending further evidence either way.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:55 PM
Nada- do you mind if I ask why you view God like? Really curious. If you don’t mind sharing, would like to know. If not, I understand.
I have quite a few friends outside the church that are atheist and while I don’t try to convert them, I enjoy being around them.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:57 PM
If O’s beat the Yanks, how many “Buck gets revenge against Yankees” stories will we see, 17 years after the fact?
/ Lamestream media’d
October 7th, 2012 at 10:58 PM
I’m there to help…tee hee.
Also, at my size, I am an easy target when someone doesn’t like this or that about my church. Easier to vent at me than the 80-something-year-old lady at the information desk.
October 7th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Who was it that said, “If there is no God, then I lose nothing by believing in him. If there is, I gain everything”?
October 7th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
Patton with a disastrous inning, walking the eighth and ninth batters with no outs. This is why you can’t strand runners.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Grayson, I see all the suffering and horrors that mankind goes through, and I think, if there is a god, then he must accept responsibility for this. Not the devil, because according to every religion, the devil is subservient to god, and could not inflict these horrors with god allowing it. And as the Catholic Church teaches, a sin of ommission is just as deadly as a sin of commission.
I guess I feel that if there is a god, his laws should apply to himself. Otherwise, it’s “do as I say, not as I do,” and I owe no fealty to any such person or being.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:04 PM
Brees is lighting up SD secondary. A bit of pass rush would be nice. I’d settle for guys raising their arms when Brees throws.
Aaaaand, Colston comes down with another one. Down to the wire, fellas. Buckle up, here we go.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:05 PM
Nada- understand. Thank you for sharing.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:06 PM
And as the Catholic Church teaches, a sin of ommission is just as deadly
Penn State would’ve read that statement, but they’d already turned the other cheek.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:06 PM
I have no truck with anyone who believes in god, as long as they don’t try to shove their beliefs down my throat. Which is why I cannot support pretty much the entire GOP and its ilk, who want to enact their religious prejudices into law.
I am always amused that those who scream loudest about sharia law are trying to do the same thing to the rest of us.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
sounds familiar but can’t remember who said it.
i pondered about it a lot on my long commute when i had it. now i just listen to music and try to figure out if i should go to dunkin donuts or starbucks on my 7 mile trip.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
I’d settle for guys raising their arms when Brees throws.
Can’t go asking for too much now.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Thank you for understanding, and I hope I didn’t offend. Sometimes I get on my high horse about these things.
You, sir, are going to hell.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
religion and stupidity is a bad combo. individually each quality is harmless
October 7th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
There may be no god, but Dunkin Donuts coffee is proof that there is a hell.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:11 PM
Whoa, TBLAD went religious tonight. I can share too:
I grew up Mormon, and not by choice. Bible/Book of Mormon study every morning before school, 3 hours of church every Sunday. The day I moved out of my parent’s house to go to college was the last day i stepped foot in a church.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
O’s get out of the jam on a great play by Weiters at home and then a K on Arod.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Oday dealing. What a gutsy pair of outs.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Yea Nada I’d have to agree. I don’t drink coffee but from everyone I know that does if they were offered a cup of dunkin or a cup of used motor oil it’d be a hard choice.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Nada- no offense here. I have friends from a variety of faiths and even no-faith (which is rare, I am finding for a pastor). Obviously, we disagree on the existence of God, but respect that you are willing to share why.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Reggie Jackson = Mr. October.
Dave Winfield = Mr. May.
A-Rod = Mr. Winter Ball.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
if they server maple frosted and chocolate glazed donuts in hell it’s not that bad.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:13 PM
Darren O’Day has balls of steel. Made a-rod look foolish right there
October 7th, 2012 at 11:13 PM
AFC West smells like an 8-8 winner once again
October 7th, 2012 at 11:14 PM
Rivers. Disastrous.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:15 PM
That was PI. Ugh I want new Orleans to win by Christ that was awful.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:15 PM
Related: I’ve never seen The Book of Mormon, but am a South Park fan. Wonder if it’s worth checking out. Anyone?
October 7th, 2012 at 11:15 PM
Smallie- Mormons are intense when it comes to studying.
Nada- Like you have no beef with those that have faith, I have no beef with people like you that can state why without the name calling, yelling, etc. I know some Christians do that and my cousin is one of them and I can’t stand that.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:15 PM
If you’re a Chargers’ fan, Rivers will break your heart. Book it.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:16 PM
my wife and i both believe if our kids want religion they can make a choice when they are old enough to find a faith they want to believe in.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Don’t believe in God or the Saints, but I do worship the Saintsations. Man, they look good in those pink tops.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:19 PM
This. I have great respect for people of faith who not only cite Jesus but also live up to his teachings.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:19 PM
Orioles just cannot work a count. Sabathia has given up six hits and only has 82 pitches through six and a third.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:20 PM
Then Norval will stomp on it, and A.J. will extend his contract another two years.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:20 PM
That’s the way i look at it. My wife disagrees. She doesn’t go to church except for Easter and Christmas eve, but insists that if we have kids they have to be christianed and go to church. It’s caused many fights in our house.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
Whenever there is a sliver of hope, I look at the org chart and get jolted back to reality. Like the headache after being in a car wreck.
They got three minutes to make a tie happen. Let’s go, Bolts.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
It’s caused many fights in our house.
I already told you once with my mouth, woman!
Promise that’s my last shitty joke for the night. I’m off in 3 minutes.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
Prediction: bad as they’ve looked so far, the Bolts pull this out in OT.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:24 PM
Robert andino..when you dont swing at anything, dont complain when you get called out looking
October 7th, 2012 at 11:25 PM
nada you’re probably right. Rivers in the 2 minute drill against a terrible secondary makes it likely.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:25 PM
My ex-GF, a wonderful and intelligent woman, supported abortion, often disagreed with papal doctrine and did not attend church but considered herself Catholic. I insisted that she was not. It caused some debates, but not arguments. Her view was, if she was wrong, God would let her know eventually.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
If the Saints go into a “prevent,” all hope is lost.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
And … the Norv Turner Face makes a prime appearance.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
All a prevent defense does is prevent the defense from stopping the offense.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:29 PM
Looks like Roger todl the zebras to make sure the saints don’t get to 0-5
October 7th, 2012 at 11:29 PM
That offensive PI call is yet more proof that there is no god.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:30 PM
Three straight calls against the Chargers? I believe you’re correct.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:30 PM
Offensive PI. Holding. Norval is just about to blow his top. Second and 37???
October 7th, 2012 at 11:31 PM
Good god there’s enough laundry on this damn drive.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:31 PM
Hands to the face? My son said “bailout, after all that”.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Jebus, these refs are making the scabs look good.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Replacement refs would be getting obliterated here. Normal refs aren’t much better.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
CHARGERS ARE GETTING FUCKED HARD RIGHT NOW. Told y’all games were gonna get fixed as soon as the real refs got back.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Matusz holy shit.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:36 PM
Chargers definitely getting Sandusky’d by the refs, but it would help if they could complete a forward pass.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:37 PM
Rivers Blololololololol
October 7th, 2012 at 11:37 PM
Bahahahaha, that was awesome.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
I’m quoting myself, but you saw it.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
Not Rivers’ fault there. He’s got no time in the pocket. Refs won this one.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
Well, that was the Saints’ Super Bowl. The defense will go back to blowing chunks next week after this one-game anomaly.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:38 PM
INTEGRITY.
At least Homeland was awesome.
/Saul better not fuck up
October 7th, 2012 at 11:39 PM
Leadoff double. Cannot blow this. Cannot.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
If six umps are OK for the MLB playoffs, why not for the regular season?
October 7th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
To me, between Gaither having trouble getting out of his stance & Rivers struggling to feel the pressure all game, this was a tough one to watch.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:41 PM
Because only the playoffs are important enough for the umps to decide the outcome.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:43 PM
I was gonna say they certainly did that Friday night, but fuck it, the Braves didn’t need the umps’ help to blow that game.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:44 PM
I agree, but I’m pretty good about staying bitter.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
And there goes the Orioles chances of winning. This is fucking atrocious.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
I see that I’ve brought my “unable to get a hit with RISP” mojo over from the Braves.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Oh ho ho ho
October 7th, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Game over. Series over. Choke after choke after choke comes back finally.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Russell martin..that dirty french canadian.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Wheels startin’ to come off for Baltimore.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
All we need now is a Jeffrey Meier moment.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:53 PM
Not sure you actually watched baseball this year if you think this series is over. Yankees aren’t that much better than the orioles. Look at how terrible they were tonight after the 3rd inning. Stop overreacting. Baltimore will be fine. Now if they lose tomorrow, you can be all moping and depressed
October 7th, 2012 at 11:54 PM
“Vintage Derek Jeter”? Is he gonna send the pitcher a gift basket now after fucking him over?
October 7th, 2012 at 11:54 PM
Andy pettite pitches tomorrow. This isnt vintage playoff andy. Baltimore can get some good hits off him.
Its all good anyways..Reds or nationals are winning the world series.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
Gotta be honest, did not watch a game in its entirety this season. Just not as much into baseball as I was in my salad days.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
I dont care if its a lefty, you gotta get Jim Thome an at-bat.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
The Orioles aren’t good enough to lose games they should win. They blew this, at home. Even if they win tomorrow taking two out of three in new york is a tall order.
October 7th, 2012 at 11:56 PM
Queefer, they were 6-3 at yankee stadium this year..
October 7th, 2012 at 11:57 PM
Mr. Winter Ball indeed.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
I haven’t watched much baseball this season either, but it doesn’t matter because Rivera will come in and shut down the O’s now.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
The reds-giants series and tigers-athletics series are definitely over. Giants arent winnng three straight in Cincy and i doubt oakland can sweep 3 at home vs detroit like they did vs a choking texas dog
October 8th, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Know what’s great about this time of year, in addition to playoff baseball? Every channel starts showing horror movies.
I love horror movies.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:01 AM
O’s will have to wait, he’s not done coaching the Panthers back into oblivion.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:01 AM
Rivera’s been injured since april. Tore up his knee. Soriano has been the closer this year
October 8th, 2012 at 12:02 AM
Seriously, is Rivera back on the roster?
October 8th, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Horror movies? My dumps are more interesting
October 8th, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Wow – I was joking
October 8th, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Mariano won’t pitch til next year if he decides to come back.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Glad to see the O’s went back to their “happy little bird” logo caps. Don’t like the “O’s” caps.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:04 AM
Oh ok, jimmy. Wasnt sure if you were that out of the loop or just being sarcastic
October 8th, 2012 at 12:05 AM
Bedtime. Going to be tired for nothing tomorrow. Terrible.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:05 AM
Seems like a scoring was an issue for both baltimore teams today
/pushes Queefer to the edge

October 8th, 2012 at 12:08 AM
Ah, EDR commercials …
“Hey, hon. I’m gonna pop this little pill. Get ready to get rogered in about an hour, and, by the way, it’s gonna go on for four hours.”
And they say romance is dead.
October 8th, 2012 at 12:10 AM
You and I are usually on opposite sides politically, but I always appreciate that you fight the good fighgt for what you believe in.

What does it say about a man that, once the football and baseball are over for the evening, he turns to watch a Buffy rerun?
/ Coop’d is not an acceptable answer
