Mike Wilbon Apologizes, Concedes Defeat that Washington DC Isn’t the “Worst” Sports Town

Mike Wilbon, your hell week is over. From ripping DC as a sports town to going at it with an ESPN anchor and a Washington Post blogger, Wilbon has finally waved the white flag and conceded defeat: I’m a jackass, sorry, and DC isn’t that bad of a sports town. He’s backpedaled faster than his boy, Deion Sanders.
I allowed this to go too far. My personal apology to Dan Steinberg on.fb.me/PVptnQ
— Michael Wilbon (@RealMikeWilbon) October 5, 2012
That’s quite the reversal less than a day after this tweet:
Do Steinberg & Weinstein think they can take swings at me w/o me swinging back twice as hard? Think again punks on.fb.me/SyA1MQ
— Michael Wilbon (@RealMikeWilbon) October 3, 2012
If you’re keeping score at home, this is the 2nd time a former big-shot at the Post has gone after Steinberg. (See here.) And Wilbon, for whatever reason, hates it when people at his former paper speak the truth. Remember how angry he was about the book on Michael Jordan?
I’m still waiting for John Feinstein to weigh in on the latest Wilbon kerfuffle.

to going at it with an ESPN anchor
always funny when this phrased is used.

I thought this was a joke when I didn’t click the link in the Round Up. I’m just glad I got some closure.

Carly Parker’s asshole is more blown out than the elastic waistband on Wilbon’s gym shorts.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I was kind of startled at the number of people coming out to defend Wilbon. They seemed to be more inclined to use the “but he was right about DC being a crappy sports town” defense. I don’t think that was the issue here. His “take down” of Steinberg was the equivalent of a resume dick measuring contest with a “I have more twitter followers than you” thrown on for good measure. He’s journalism’s Shaq.

Nice funbags on the porn actress in photo 2, but the glowing red devil eyes are a turnoff.

My favorite part of PTI is when Stat Boy tells Wilbon and Kornheiser what they fucked up.
My favorite part of ATH is when Stat Boy hits the mute on Woody and Colishaw.

Here’s my old man get-off-my-lawn pet peeve of the day:
Why is it that anyone who appears in a porno gets labeled a “porn star”? Is everyone in the porn industry a star?
A chocolate starfish, I could understand. But a straight-up star?
October 5th, 2012 at 12:06 PM
mr potato head might wanna ditch the goatee
dammit. that’s better than mine.
/sits at the unfunny table, with all the losers.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:06 PM
Agreed, no need to swing down, it makes you look horrible.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Also, when does Jenn Sterger make her inevitable move into porn?

Do you think those are fake glasses, ala Lebron, or is her eyesight bad from taking so many loads to the cornea?
October 5th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
i believe eye doctors call this phenomenon a “pornea.”
October 5th, 2012 at 12:09 PM
She wears them in a lot of her movies, so it might be a part of her look at this point.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:10 PM
“Bad sports town” is just a way to insult cities where people actually want to live.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:10 PM
glasses are a part of a porn star’s look? i find that funny, for some reason. not sure why yet. probably because im hungry.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:11 PM
Cum Covered Glasses dot com used to be a thing, not sure if it still is.

not true…NYC, chicago and dallas aint bad sports towns. it’s a way to insult cities where people are largely douchebags rife for liquidation (LA, miami) or imports (atlanta, DC, phoenix).

God I love the internet.

dunno.. Dallas has a lotta Atlanta up in it. If America’s beloved Cowboys were located in Atlanta (or if the Falcons had figured out that putting smoking hot women in fuck me boots and daisy dukes on the sidelines was a good idea before the cowboys) they’d essentially be the same. Nobody gave a shit about the rangers until 2 years ago.

October 5th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Glad they got goatee / Van Dyke correct.
My dad grew a goatee last year and I had never seen him with facial hair in 28 years, it was disturbing.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
question… how long do the cowboys have to suck for people to stop paying $400 to go watch a football game on a bit tv screen from 300 feet in the air?
October 5th, 2012 at 12:20 PM
At the Wilbon home, one night:
The Mrs.: Who was that bitch I saw in the picture with you?
MW: Aw, baby. She’s nobody. I was out at a work thing, and she walked up on me.
The Mrs.: Looks like she wanted to do more than walk. If I catch you messin’ around, you’ll be livin’ with that Kornholer guy.
MW: Korn-HEISER. You’ve met Mr. Tony. You know his name.
The Mrs.: Whatever. Talk to the hand. (swivels her head, Madea-style). Oh, by the way, gimme some money.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:21 PM
Speaking of movies, I saw a video of the Hulkster banging his best friend’s busty ex-wife. It’s pretty gross.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:21 PM
ive tried the true goatee and just makes me really self conscious, like it’s jewelry on my face. i go full beard (from working from home/laziness) or clean shave
/that’s fucking fascinating

Back in the day Shane Diesel did “My Daughter’s Fucking a *****” then they changed it to “My Daughter’s Fucking a Black Guy.”
That was the first place I saw Eva Angelina. Memories.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:22 PM
Spencer summed it up nicely.
I’m not even sure what these knuckleheads (Wilbon and Steinberg) are fighting about, but I admit to being mildly amused by a Gawker writer calling anyone else who writes for a living a “troll” the way Drew Magary did.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:22 PM
You’re not doing that right.

at least once more miss swan

i’m not trying.

I was in Dallas one Monday night after the new stadium was up. I asked the clients if they wanted to go – my treat – and they laughed. “There’s no way your expense account could get more than 1 of us into the game.” They started outlining all of the costs just to get there: cab or parking, food, yada … then the tickets. Yikes.
We all went to a bar and watched.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Hamilton party scene luminary (there is such a thing?) told me Gruden is going to Arkansas, I feel that there is no way he has any reliable source on this and usually only emails me when he is drunk at work at we are going drinking. He says ‘details to come.’ As far as reporting though I consider him a vastly superior source than say, a satire website ESPN.
October 5th, 2012 at 12:29 PM
squawk, i heard 75 to park

In addition to being an hour drive from Dallas in moderate traffic, Arlington is also a shithole.

My drinking friend’s source is the crazy Arkansas fan girl who he is facebook friends with. Seems like a lock, congrats to Razorbacks fans.

So the price to park has come down. I thought they told me $100. This was the first year of the stadium and for 4 of us to go and eat, their estimate had climbed to over $1,000. I’m an independent contractor, so they didn’t want to gig me.
And there was some kind of taxi sur-charge if you rode one to the stadium. Something about the cabs had to pay for the right to use the stadium roads or something strange. Maybe they were just telling me tales, but it was outrageous.

Take the tour for $20…

I’d say the difference is that, while all those cities absorb large quantities of newcomers every year, NYC, Chicago and Dallas tend to retain enough of their natives to have a signature identity. Meanwhile Atlanta, DC, Phoenix, LA or Miami have overpriced or driven away all their natives so that there’s no one set identity beyond “D-Bag Hell”.

The hottest one is on the right. The most fun is the blonde in the middle.

Carly Parker was actually cute a million years ago. A cavalcade of dicks later and she is beat to hell.
October 5th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
NYC, chicago and dallas aint bad sports towns.
So it’s cool when dickbag Yankees fans don’t go to the games unless the team is a World Series contender (it’s been a while but trust me NYC fans are just as fair-weather as anywhere else) or when Dallas ignores the NBA before Cuban does because those aren’t bad sports towns. Why is DC a bad sports town?
October 5th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
There’s a missing clause in there but you get my point.
October 5th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
My gf calls him butthole mouth because, well, it’s just so round and hairy, I guess.
October 5th, 2012 at 2:43 PM
because DC fans don’t even really care when the teams are GOOD. same with miami and LA and atlanta not selling out playoff games.
yankee fans just dont wanna get stabbed going to the stadium.

Bullshit but OK.
