I’m running a half in Memphis in December, then will decide. My wife is running a full so it’s easy enough now to be on the same schedule… tough part will be after Dec 1 when she is done, and I have to get the motivation to run 20 miles alone. Fucking brutal.

Smuttynose is generally really good, but their one of those beers that I just don’t have often enough. I did just have their Winter Ale as part of a craft brew sampler my local liquor store puts together.

I was 18 when I left. I’ve had Shipyard a few times when I’ve been back, along with some Smuttynose (my mom used to get a local sampler for me when I visited from college). I’ve just never had the Pumpkin, or been to the brewery to try some more limited-run or less popular beers.

Definitely visit Pisgah. And Highland.

The Flying Saucer here used to put it up on special as “Highland Gaelic My Balls”

BTW whoever suggested Shipyard… it looks amazing. They have a limited release 11.4% Smashed Pumpkin 750 mL (bourbon barrel aged) that is on my list to find.

Doubtful. They’ve only been bottling a year now, and I think they are getting close to AL and KY, but I couldn’t imagine getting it anywhere more than an hour from Nashville, for a few years still.

My wife wants to spend Christmas in Asheville this year… I’ll need some good brewery/winery recommendations for us to visit. Never had Old Hickory, and won’t be close enough to visit the brewery, but I assume it’ll be sold in stores in Asheville?
