to be clear, during football season, 99% of our videos are by Mike Shamburger, who is really, really good.

If you are getting them from youtube or wherever, they aren’t your videos. And why would that be a negative for you?

correct, they are not ours. never said they were. But not everyone has the ability to pull videos in HQ and put them on youtube. so the content farms who specialize in SEO simply get the videos from us and put them on their site. It’s funny to see us have a post (unlisted on youtube by Mike, so nobody can find them via search) and then Yahoo/Huff Po/etc/etc 30 minutes later post the video. Makes more sense to let them do their own video work, no?

I’m lobbying for USA TOday to go the Deadspin/Sportsgrid route so we can host our own videos. We’ll see what happens.

I’m not trying to be difficult, just wanting to understand, but in no way is a gif as effective as a video. How long was Woods down? Did someone help him up? How long was he down when he fell again? No context.
