I know Gifs are the bee’s knees now, but can you link the video so there is some context?

NCAA don’t care about head trauma. Between Gholston and this, somebody needs to sue the team doctors.

Oregon is gonna run USC out of the gym…

They got the copy .gifs from deadspin memo.

These GIFs are terrible.

No idea what you guys are talking about. I think this new found gif technology enhances the mobile experience.

SBN’s is better, should probably be looking at their test instead.

Got it all wrong with the GIFs, guys.
As leagues move to scrub videos off youtube – and as dozens of websites/content farms take our videos as soon as we post them – GIFs are the way to go.
Just as effective as the videos.

Is MLB the only one that’s a hardass about gifs?
October 5th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Nobody is hard about GIFs, Cowboy Mike.
No audio. Just a snippet.

Makes sense, fair use and whatnot. Personally I love gifs

The NCAA does this now?
and as dozens of websites/content farms take our videos as soon as we post them
If you are getting them from youtube or wherever, they aren’t your videos. And why would that be a negative for you?
Just as effective as the videos.
I’m not trying to be difficult, just wanting to understand, but in no way is a gif as effective as a video. How long was Woods down? Did someone help him up? How long was he down when he fell again? No context.

correct, they are not ours. never said they were. But not everyone has the ability to pull videos in HQ and put them on youtube. so the content farms who specialize in SEO simply get the videos from us and put them on their site. It’s funny to see us have a post (unlisted on youtube by Mike, so nobody can find them via search) and then Yahoo/Huff Po/etc/etc 30 minutes later post the video. Makes more sense to let them do their own video work, no?
I’m lobbying for USA TOday to go the Deadspin/Sportsgrid route so we can host our own videos. We’ll see what happens.

to be clear, during football season, 99% of our videos are by Mike Shamburger, who is really, really good.

Makes more sense to let them do their own video work, no?
I’m not up to speed on the rights and all that. Thanks for answering.

The only problem i have with the gifs is how it slows down the site to a crawl sometimes. Didnt have that problem with this one though.
