Conversely, raising taxes on businesses does what to stimulate jobs? And I imagine you agree getting the unemployment rate well below 8% should be everyone’s top priority right now.

Yeah no shit professor. I guess Obama didn’t realize what he was getting into then when he promised to cut the deficit in half in his first term and DECREASE unemployement. Obama took a 55 win Astros team and won 60 games the following year. Doesn’t mean he’s done a good job.

Sure it does. It isn’t a sexy soundbite for a debate, but if Obama inherited a 55 win team and only won 60 the next year, it’s also fair to say the team to say that team was doomed to win 40 games without the actions Obama spearheaded, with no help whatsoever from a hostile opposition party.

You can’t argue about debt/deficits in a disaster like this, then bitch about unemployment and the state of the economy. It’s a circle that can’t be squared.

It was complete deregulation of the derivative market within the dogma of the free market guiding itself that led to the biggest disaster. Even if every single homeowner foreclosed it would not match the amount banks over leveraged themselves in that ‘rational, invisible guiding hand, best of all possible words’ free market.

No, austerity has always failed always which is the common method of trying to reduce debt.

I wasn’t suggesting austerity. Austerity does fail. You can reduce the debt without resorting to austerity measures. I don’t know, maybe not fighting two wars at once that are unpaid for while building a fleet of drones to expand wars to other countries, allowing tax cuts that have been going on for far too long to expire.
