Butters – the point I am making is there is just too much clutter in sports, and its largely over-inflated networks trying to catch eyeballs and sell add space, that they often miss the point that sometimes we just want to see the damn game. The point about the postgame material is that there is too much of it and its largely meaningless once you get past boxscores and drive summaries. I wasn’t saying that part is inescapable. Whats inescapable is Grudens yapper and Tirico botching 40% of the calls last night. THAT part is inescapable, aside from muting the TV.

I know you won’t like what I’m about to say but ….

This is part of the reason I love soccer. There are no commercials except for halftime (can’t vouch for MLS, I don’t watch high school sports). You get in, know you’ve got about 48 minutes of straight sports watching, then fifteen minutes to go take a shit and get a snack while the talking heads babble at halftime, then settle in for another 48 minutes or so.

Plus so often I have to resort to watching foreign feeds that I can’t understand the announcers, but I don’t need to, the game speaks for itself. I can listen to music while watching it. All I’m interested in is the sport, not the jackasses talking over it or the plays getting missed because FOX cut back from commercial too late.
