Red Wings Vice President Fined $250,000 For Comments Made in Facebook Chat
Everyone – websites, athletes, owners – wants to get into the “social space.” It is fun and exciting! A terrific way to reach out to the coveted young demographic of fans! Also, risky. Witness Jim Devellano, a Detroit Red Wings front office guy who, during a Facebook chat, stepped in it and has been fined $250k. From Sports Business Journal:
In the interview with Scott Harrigan — the owner of the 3-year-old website based in Victoria, British Columbia — Devellano said, “The owners can basically be viewed as the ranch, and the players, and me included, are the cattle.” He also said, “The owners simply aren’t going to let a union push them around. It’s not going to happen.”
As the Journal reported, “NHL bylaw 17.17 prohibits owners or team officials from discussing collective bargaining. Only Daly and Commissioner Gary Bettman are permitted to speak on the subject.” There appears to be zero positive news to report about the NHL lockout. The preseason has been cancelled. [SBJ]

False. The positive news is, there is no hockey clogging up my lesser-used TV channels.

Also, in regards to “lockout,” yesterday I heard yet another clueless football commentator refer to the ref situation as a “strike.” No, dufus who is in the pocket of the NFL, it was a LOCKOUT.

Has the Internet made it to Alabama yet?

Sounds like something from Turok.
God mode in Turok might have been the best. That nuke gun was incredible. The Turok nuke gun, the RCP-90 from Goldeneye, and the ‘Eraser’ type gun in Perfect Dark were the best.

Struggling to find a logical reason as to why anyone would want to live in the states of Alabama or Mississippi.

Montgomery seems like a place I’d be down for. You know, if someone had a gun to my head that I had to leave TN
October 1st, 2012 at 3:13 PM
Shrouded in mystery. I’ve been on a lot of those back roads in that part of Mississippi. After dark, you don’t want to mess around, even now.
Montgomery ain’t bad. Spent a couple of months there (Maxwell AFB) years ago. There’s worse places.

The Chris Thomas King character in O Brother Where Art Thou was based on Robert Johnson.

Bettman is a douchebag. Good luck on collecting that $$ you jackass commissioner. Guy probably makes $150k per year. Guess it just means he’s really the cattle now so his comment was all true.
