That lady took quite a shot from the car door.

Don’t really find her appealing. I think what she’s know for is stripping down to a bikini in front of Slter Though he was married to Ali Landry, that lucky dog

Peter North approves.

The guy in the NHL ’13 video was quite an annoying douche.

Deion Sanders took BP with the Orioles.
Really? I’d rather no mention of the O’s in the Roundup than this.
/Fuck “Prime”
September 27th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Key & Peele is hilarious. That is all.
Yeah, unless Deion is going to help us win out, then F it.

That’s why you apply the parking break.
Needs more J. Walter Weatherman to really drive the lesson home.

That’s classic. Watching those people waiting in line for all those hrs to see some employee drop a bunch of iPhones and break them is priceless.

September 27th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
i wish i could find it again, i read an apple fanboy’s blog entry about how At&t ruined his iPhone 5 experience by insensitively taking the unboxing experience away from him when the clerk did it behind the counter.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a company shit on another as hard as Samsung is with Apple. Those commercials showing how much better the GSIII is than the iPhone 5 are brutal. The knocks on the culture, the technology, the cluelessness. I have an iPhone, and I still think it’s awesome.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
i think it’s hilarious. My iPhone is a bit stale and i’m getting bored with it. I’ll never use android though, so i guess I’ll never know the apparent joys of the GS3

There’s a chance, albeit a small one. I’m still more worried about making the playoffs at all. Red Sox would love to end our season after what we did to them last year, and TB is going to be in a position to win the WC in that last series at the Trop.
Someone in here posted that BP has them at 91 percent chance of making the playoffs, but I’m much more skeptical.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
The best part of buying new electronics is definitely the unboxing and the setup.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
the set up, i agree with, the unboxing…i never got the appeal since the contents aren’t a surprise.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
My favorite part is the “collecting dust after the newness wears off” phase
September 27th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
Saw Grizzly Bear last night at Massey, great show. One guy in the band played two different saxophones, bass guitar, flute, clarinet, while looping and singing in the same song. There was so many switches at his feet it was like watching a guy defuse bombs in rhythm. Oh yeah and mofucking Feist showed up.
Nancy Grace hours and hours clockwork orange style.

I’m still more worried about making the playoffs at all. Red Sox would love to end our season after what we did to them last year, and TB is going to be in a position to win the WC in that last series at the Trop.
I am as pessimistic as they come but after watching the offense appear to right itself last night and the Sox throwing Cook/Doubront/Stewart this weekend, I gotta believe we’ll take 2 of 3 this weekend which should all but wrap up a playoff berth.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
While I haven’t seen the GS3 in person, that large of a screen is a deal breaker for me. My buddy has some droid phone and the screen is huge, looks ridiculous in his hand when he has to use it. I’ve never held my iPhone and thought the screen needed to be much bigger.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:48 AM
Alas, that’s inevitable.

September 27th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Maybe the players would, but the fans would not. We definitely want to finish with one of the 9 worst records in baseball.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Yeah, I would love to be wrong. I would also love to use the tickets I bought.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:49 AM

September 27th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
i could use a slightly larger screen, but not sure if i like the 16:9 resolution. still looks strange to me, even in person on the iphone.

I decided to buy a NOOK Tablet, mainly because it was on sale and I didnt have a tablet and thought it was ridiculous for my wife to read an ebook on her phone. I like it, its actually really good for watching Netflix in bed. Now I see that there is a NOOK HD+ out. Shoulda waited. I still have the Iphone 3GS.

September 27th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
The Samsung commercials are great, when the guy is standing in line for his parents, it made me chuckle because both my parents have IPhones.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Not sure about top 3, b/c they have had so many damn good episodes…Scott Tenorman, Cripple Fight, the ’08 election, ManBearPig, Trapper Keeper, World of Warcraft.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Nino, I have a Nook Tablet and love it. Rooted it a while back to give it the full Android experience, but its still great. The screen on the Nook HD is seriously badass, it has HDMI out and still SD card upgradeable. I’ll probably get one as soon as someone figure out how to root it.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Up until a year ago i was still rocking the first iPhone. Went straight from it to the 4s.
September 27th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Im planning on getting a now cheaper 4S
September 27th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
The better part is that when I asked my 13-yr old sister this weekend, all of her friends (appx. 50) have iPhones. But keep flogging away Samesung, convicted thieves.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I’ve given that show a chance probably 3 or 4 times, including last night and that clip above. it’s just not that funny.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I think the point is that Apple touts turn by turn navigation as some new feature that makes the iPhone 5 great. Yes, other apps in the iOS ecosystem have provided that service. But if you’re going to pretend that basic updates are revolutionary, it’s fair game for competitors to ding you on it, IMO.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
at least Apple is making other companies work hard to have “slick” conference presentations these days.
but i wish it was as easy to convince people something was awesome the way apple does.
nothing was funnier than when the macbook pro retina was announced at work and the apple sales/dev team at work freaked out.

September 27th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
Dude. Come on.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
The iPhone 4 is our “current” company phone. When they gave it to me to replace my Android my biggest complaint was the lack of spoken turn-by-turn and the failure to include “voice to text” capabilities.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
The Samsung commercials are great
Are they the longest commercial in history? Seemed like it was at least 2 minutes.
And I think the Red Sox would definitely rather end the Yankees season. Last year was more of a collapse and the Orioles just happened to be the other team
September 27th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
I Said Bitch, Ghetto Dungeons and Dragons, Lil Wayne, Peele’s Obama impression — those skits are straight money.

So far I’ve only sprung for WC tickets but if there are ALDS games in Baltimore this year, no doubt I’ll be there.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Wonder which crew gets to work tonight’s Flacco/Weeden snoozefest?
September 27th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
if the history with the nook tablet is any indication it will have to happen fast and it needs to be adopted immediately before B&N shuts it down in their next update.

Would have to agree. When Robert Andino is ending your season, its more of a you problem.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
It’s true, they were convicted by a 12-member jury of stealing & copying patents. I just like trolling on them, nothing more. I had an HTC, my wife still has a Galaxy 1 (upgrading to iPhone 5 next month). Both were shitty phones.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Funny. I still get “real” books from the library. But I have read a few books on my nook.

I agree that the commercials are a bit over the top, but the turn by turn is in the new iOS. Apple has been doing this for years.

There is potential here for a business arrangement.
She could pick some dude, “marry” him, never sleep with him, split the proceeds with the guy, and live happily ever after.

My guess is that you’ll get a makeshift crew of people who live near Baltimore. Early rumor is Steretore (who lives south of PGH), which likely means the other Steretore will be the FJ.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Funny. I still get “real” books from the library
Got a library card about a month ago. Flying through books now. First time I’ve read on my own since like middle school.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
I managed to turn off the OTA after rooting the NT. That’s prevented it so far. But yeah, its tricky because I want to make sure the root is out there and stable before potentially bricking a $250 tablet.
That game will be tight. Ravens coming off a huge emotional win, Cleveland isn’t quite as bad as people think, and it’s a division game.
I can’t believe Flacco still gets made fun of in here.

Will be happy with an ugly 20-9 win. Browns D is legit but can’t imagine Weeden doing anything even with Ravens severe lack of pass rush.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Booing unmercifully is what we used to do to JD Drew and Scott Rolen when he was with the Cardinals.
What Werth is getting is child’s play.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
I’m the same way. Read physical books when I can. Two major advantages to the tablet though for me: one, my wife goes to sleep before me and it helps that I can read in bed in the dark without turning on a light, and two, you can find almost any e-book you want online for free.

The Kindle Fire kinda sucks, IMO. Looks like they corrected a lot of the flaws with the new HD, but if you weren’t a Prime member and already had Netflix, the Nook Tablet was the much better choice last year.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Anybody hold a book? My Wife snickers at me when I read a “real” book.
Real books. I can’t look at a computer screen and read for very long. Hard on the eyes. Not sure if that would be the case with a Kindle.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Also, RE: Werth, thought I heard on the radio this morning that he fake tossed a ball to a group of kids last night. He’s kind of a dick.

September 27th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
There’s no defensible argument for saying gummi worms are better than gummi bears.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
I’m pretty sure Camden Riversharks fans booed Stephen Drew when he briefly played in the Atlantic league. I gotta admit, I thought that was pretty funny.
I don’t quite get booing Werth, at this point. No way were the Phillies paying him that money. They could use him on the team now, for sure, but not at that money.

Maybe a little late on this, but David Simon wrote an article for SI about the Orioles’ success. Can’t read the whole thing because of SI’s stupid paywall, but excerpts and a podcast interview are here.
Novelist Laura Lippman (Simon’s wife) also contributed a piece.

September 27th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
If I didn’t already have a Netflix subscription I’d be far more willing to consider the Fire. But its redundant.
The one thing B&N did that’s stupid with the Nook HD is not undercut Amazon’s pricing model. They have this huge new ecosystem with all this streaming and downloadable content, but the price is the same. No one will switch to a different platform for the same price. But they will if its cheaper.

As someone living downtown, they both hit the city’s vibe on the nose. People want to talk about O’s and get excited but terrified to do so.
2 groups of fans: Older die hards who are very slow to come back after being emotionally slaughtered for 15 years and under 30 fans who only have come to Camden Yards on Fri. nights to get drunk for the last decade.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
I just clicked through it. Plain backdrop for the Euros? Tiger only solo American player. Bubba’s wife is tall.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
It’s funny that someone would think that actual members of the Sox care about winning. All they want is to get Valentine fired.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
All the folks with kindles & nooks do realize you can check out e-books from libraries, right?
September 27th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Dudes, I need some shoe advice. The last 3 pairs of shoes that I wear to work have worn out in a year each. I’m not talking about worn out as in getting scuffed or something like that. I’m talking about hole in the bottom, feet getting wet when it’s raining. All 3 pairs have been Johnson and Murphy brand, which at the time I thought was decent. Somebody give me a shoe brand suggestion. Something that’s comfortable enough to wear every day, looks good, will last and ideally doesn’t cost more than around $200.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Wasn’t expecting Bubba’s wife to look like that. Being from FLA and going to UGA, I was expecting something along these lines.
and I was kinda half expecting Miguel Angel Jimenez to be holding a cigar in his hand. Again, he follows true with the “must be the money” theme.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Did not know this. But I normally just torrent book pdfs anyway.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
I’m 30 and still lived in Baltimore the last time the Orioles made the playoffs. I’ve always cared before the start of each season but come July you just tune out and get ready for training camp. Baseball is a sport you can only care about when your team is winning, so I don’t blame fans for turning on Angelos and the entire organization after a decade and a half of futility.
I can’t imagine how bad it will be if the Orioles win a WC spot and lose in Selig’s moronic one-game playoff. Especially if it happens in extras. There will be no words to describe the sense of loss.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Yup. My library’s selection isn’t that stellar.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Download Calibre and convert the PDFs to e-pubs/mobi files. Much easier on the eyes.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Thomas Bjorn and his wife, Pernilla. She’s free spirit isn’t she?
That photo belongs on awkwardfamilyphotos.com doesn’t it?
September 27th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Don’t wear the same pair everyday. I rotate 2 pairs of black and 2 pairs of brown, keep them in shoe trees, shine and polish them every weekend and my shoes last for years. Also, I buy J&M shoes that can be refurbished when the soles do inevitably wear out, so instead of spending $200 a pop, I spend $60 to have J&M resole them when needed.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Typical work shoes I buy are Steve Madden, though the last pair I bought were a pair of Dockers ProStyle. They cost $60, are comfortable as shit, and look more than good enough for business wear.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
I’m definitley ditching my iPhone ASAP. Even if I didn’t have an iPad I’d be leaning toward android, but with one the technology is too redundant
September 27th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Allen Edmonds. A little more than your $200 price tag, but well worth it. When they do wear out you can send them back to the company for “recrafting”. It costs about $90, but they come back good as new. I have several pairs that are over 10 years old. Sme have been redrafted once, some twice. But, they are still going strong.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
At first I was like Damn Zach Johnson’s wife is huge. Then scrolled down and realized she is pregnant.
/feels dumb.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
I’ll only add to this that $200+ isn’t unreasonable for quality, lasting shoes. But as the comment says, wearing any pair every day will wear them out eventually.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Id rather read a regular book over an e-book. It’s better on the eyes
September 27th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Allen Edmonds is having a big sale.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Okay, confused as I may be by your Nook vs. Fire “review”, I’m most intrigued by this statement. You want a company with a market cap of 3/4 of a billion dollars to undercut one worth $115B?

Oh yeah, I definitely have calibre, but the iBooks app does an excelent job on pdf’s.

Pirate Bay has torrents all over the place for e-books. People will uploaded batches of 1000 books at a time, usually grouped by subject (history, sci-fi, politics, science, etc). You also get a NYT Bestsellers upload once a month which contains all the new popular fiction and non-fiction.
I get the NY Times lists off of Frostwire every month. They are great, especially because I pretty much only read non-fiction which seems to be tougher to find online.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Dudes, I need some shoe advice.
Cole Haan. Nike show technology makes them the most comfortable shoes I’ve worn for work. I only buy them now, usually in the $150-$175 range for a nice pair.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Frostwire
Didn’t know this was still around. I had Limewire but it got booted. And before I get roasted, I only used it to download obscure songs you couldn’t find anywhere and new rap/mixtapes. I am no pirate.
/pours one out for Pirates being eliminated
September 27th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
There’s no point in spending tens millions to develop tablets if no one buys them. If you’re in the market for a tablet, why choose the Nook HD over offerings from Google, Amazon, and Apple? There has to be differentiation. Right now, B&N doesnt have it. A cheaper media service would be a big one.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Spoken by someone who has obviously never read a book on a e-ink reader
September 27th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
I don’t. I have a brown and black. Maybe, as suggested, I should go with 2 of each color. Point is I’m tired of having to buy new shoes every year because they wear out. Anyone have experience of shoes from JCrew?

September 27th, 2012 at 9:52 AM

Limewire was awesome. I found Frostwire after they shut it down. Its pretty solid, doesn’t always have what I’m looking for though.

September 27th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Demonoid has been down since July. They’re trying to make a comeback, but so far, nothing solid. Loved that site.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I’m still contemplating selling my iPad and getting the Kindle Fire HD. Can’t seem to pull the trigger though, anyone got a great review of the Fire?
September 27th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Limewire was awesome
Except for the bottom half of results being porn laded, I agree
Seeing as I’m neither thirteen nor a fratboy, no.
Did J-Mac write this sentence? I get stuff from there and I am neither, sir. They’ve got good clothes and bad clothes. Depends wha tyou’re looking for.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
TAKE IT BACK
September 27th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
They simply can’t afford that differentiator. An all out pricing war between Apple and Amazon is the only way you’ll see that, but B&N can’t buy in to that game.
September 27th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
YOu’re right. Low-blow. Taken back

Then they should stop making tablets if they can’t find a reason for people to buy them.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
I’ve known people who have cobblers (very few still exist, but they’re out there) put a rubber sole on the bottom over the leather sole to keep the wear down. I haven’t tried it myself, but maybe worth looking into.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Received Getty images legal letter, they want $1040 for an image a client uploaded to a site. Volunteered to write the response but they voted against it, prudes. DMCA you extortionist cunts, fucking old media.
I stare at a screen all day and would go mental if the battery ran out on a book. Used booked store close by bought The Satanic Verses and Stendhal book for a grand total of $11. Have hypocritical feelings about illegally downloading books, stealing a song you may see them in concert, end up buying the single or album in better quality. When you steal a book though what are the odds the author ends up profiting?

Boots fellas. I’ve been wearing Georgia Farm and Ranch boots for 6 years.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
I’m still confused. Reading this thread has made me decide to buy a tablet. I’m not tied to either…Nook HD sounds like the best bet? Price is not a huge factor.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
Love the new Fire, but waiting on the 8.9
Staples and Best Buy have it if you want to test drive.
September 27th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
This is fucked up, if the author is dead well fuck their descendents, should Nietzsche’s cunty, cunty family get a dime 212 years later? Fuck no. But new authors, that’s just cold man.
