New York Post Cover: The Replacement Referees Are Blind
“Blind refs ruining America’s game.” Not a bad sub-head. Not at all.
The latest on the story that is damaging the NFL brand – inelastic demand be damned – there’s no news. Owners apparently don’t want to cave to the pension-seeking part-timers. Goodell continues to take fire from across the country. Bob Costas was on the Today Show discussing the scabs (Tuesday, it was Peter King).
And yes, we’ll probably have 10 more replacement official posts today. Including the Bill Belichick fine, which is expected to be announced at some point. Mike Freeman reported the figure is expected to be $50,000.
Oh, and because we forgot to post this during the frenzy Tuesday, here’s Aaron Rodgers angrily shoving (tapping?) a cameraman after the refs handed Seattle the victory.

“My Grandkids” is much worse than “The Children.” Fuck that show.

“Angrily shoving.” Okay.

Ah, that wasn’t that bad. That sort of thing, with athletes telling or directing camera people out of their personal space, probably happens more than we know.

Cameraman was probably a cancer patient

serious, possibly stupid, question: what’s the difference between a yellow lab and a golden retreiver?
September 26th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
correction it was a win over the jets when he grabbed a cameraman…it was security that threw the camera guy down after the indy game

miz – mainly in coat length, size, and a little bit of training disposition. There are some generalizations here, but this link is a pretty good start

Goldens have much more hair and it’s very soft. Yellows have essentially a water-proof coat and it’s coarse. Everything else is pretty much the same, although Yellows can have two different types of noses (narrow, square) and Goldens have more narrow.

I think even “tapping” might be overkill.

jeebus. I seriously thought they were the same dog until just now.

The story was that he would totally diss Mangini and all the cameras trying to get in his way were definitely trying to make that happen.. so he shoves them out of the way and goes in for the big bear hug. Classic Belichick.

If the refs screw the Pats again, Belichik will have “football reseacher” Ernie Adams take care of them, the way he’s “taking care” of Wes Welker’s career right now.
What, you think that shadowy guy was really just researching football?

There are even differences within the Lab gene pool. Look at these ‘english’ labs. You don’t see them as often as you see the other variety, but damn if these dogs dont look much more majestic. Block heads, big bodies, and just much more “umpf” than the regular variety.

They’re both fucking awesome, though.

Does anyone find Deadspin’s coverage of the ref situation especially tiresome, even for them? They’re clearly more worked up about the perceived political undercurrents of the issue when I just want the damn product to be good.

I don’t know, those dogs look a little chunky to me. But this is coming from a Rhodesian Ridgeback owner. I guess I prefer the slim muscular look.
