Jerry Jones Said He Missed the Seattle – Green Bay Monday Night Football Finish, and Nobody Called Him About it
Jerry Jones went on KRLD radio in Dallas this morning and obviously, was asked about the controversial Seattle/Green Bay finish. Said Jones:
Jerry Jones on KRLD-FM: “I didn’t see that ending last night. I cut it off about halftime.” Said he got no calls about controversy. Riiight.
— Tim MacMahon (@espn_macmahon) September 25, 2012
Of course nobody called him. Who wakes up a billionaire in the middle of the night with a ‘HOLY SHIT YOU GOTTA SEE THIS BULLSHIT JER.’ (The guy who cleans his glasses, maybe?)
He’s an owner. He’s who Roger Goodell has to answer to. The commish works for the owners. You think Jones wants to dip into his deep oil pockets to pay refs a couple more bucks and their pension? Nope.
Just wait until it happens to you, Jerry.

this will be a fun week of fines and statements and pr-penned apologies
September 25th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
Lions will get screwed this weekend. No one will care.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
I will
September 25th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
and this is different from any other time?
September 25th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
So over/under on fines this week levied on players for questioning this bullshit call? $350k?
September 25th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
Every post today should have that picture regardless of the topic.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
Players/Coaches aren’t doing it right. Yelling at officials and whining on Twitter is not going to fix this. I have to think Belichick has made his thoughts known to Kraft by this point right? If not that’s dumb.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Jason, I can’t tell, but are you really supporting the refs wanting a pension for a part time job? Seems like this is all just a giant cash grab on their part.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
If anyone knows how well a union can bargain for your needs, it’s NFL players.
/wank
September 25th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
Tough to argue you are getting screwed when you give up 40 points a game though.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
If the players had any balls they’d go on a work stoppage instead of whining on social media.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
The leverage has swung over to the real refs now. It doesn’t hurt that they have the entire media in their lap, but still.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Book it. Kyle Rudolph scores 2 TD’s and eclipses 100 yards.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
The CBA their union just signed last year has an explicit no-strike provision. They cannot strike.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Everytime I see the picture of Francesca out of the corner of my eye I think it’s the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Fixed for accuracy.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Wow, did not know that. That’s some union they’ve got themselves.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
What happens if they do? Curious.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
Pay damages to the owners (after they’re ordered back to work).
September 25th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
What happens if they do? Curious.
All the players contracts and the CBA are nullified and the players get fed to Goodell’s liger unicorns.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
Red Zone Rudolph. This year’s Gronk, but with brain cells.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:39 AM
They lose their dental plan
September 25th, 2012 at 10:39 AM
That’s called a “sympathy strike” and depending on the wording in the CBA for the players, it may be illegal.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:39 AM
I don’t understand this position at all. What more do you need to see from scabs to understand the importance of competent referees. They are the elite at what they do in an extremly lucrative business that has health risks. The fuck does Jerry Jones do to deserve more of the pie other than having his glasses cleaned for him, falling asleep at 9:00 and talking about asses.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:40 AM
this
September 25th, 2012 at 10:41 AM
Best part about this is the players calling for a strike. Dipshits.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:41 AM
What happens if they do? Curious
this AP
Whoo. Butters was right. They lose their dental plan.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:42 AM
* = Was out blowing a couple of BCS Commissioners to land their first title game.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
This sounds completely.. reasonable. Jeesh.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Couldn’t the NFL players just sleepwalk through games as a pseudo-strike until this situation is resolved?
Of course they are giant pussies and wouldn’t do that.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Seems like this is all just a giant cash grab on their part.
it’s negoatiations. they have leverage. there is more today than there was yesterday
September 25th, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Rudolph and Gronk. 2nd round picks. Pettigrew #20 overall…. Mayhew is the the black Millen.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:46 AM
unless they are directing their rage at the oqwners and commish, players and coaches attacking the scab refs are the bulliest of bullies
September 25th, 2012 at 10:48 AM
He just wanted to see the real bullshit happening on CBS last night as HIMYM continued to drag its viewers through burning hoops.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:49 AM
The players from Appalachia no longer give a fuck about that.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:50 AM
I want the old refs back. NFL needs to get the damn deal done. What’s a few million ($50?) to protect the best sport in the country? from a fun standpoint (fantasy, recreational plays) and work (NFL by far biggest for clicks), i love the league.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:50 AM
Dear Curious,
It’s reasonable to ask this question. Perhaps if the owners really cared about the fan experience and players, they would have a settlement. As such, a player slowdown (wow, the training room sure is full…do we have 11 who can practice? Nope? Ok) then the owners might get a hint.
Best luck,
Abby

Did Ted and Robin finally go through with that Murder-Suicide pact?
September 25th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
I can’t believe 32 of the richest men in the USA are sacrificing their product over this pittance. Unbelievable. No idea it was that simple a request.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
The “he can afford it” logic is so tired. In the NFL and in politics.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
anyone who watches that show deserves to be fucked over.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
No. But it ended with a long shot of a woman standing in the vicinity of Ted holding a yellow umbrella. Obviously Teds future wife is always prepared for sudden rain storms.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:54 AM
ehh. there is so much crappy TV on that it is hardly the worst. If Segel and Hannigan and to a lesser extent NPH can continue to show up for work I can continue to waste 20 minutes being pissed off on a Monday.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:59 AM
I don’t see how the replacement refs hurt any of that. If anything, you would think controversy would be better for you in terms of driving traffic, right? I doubt fewer people are logging on to read about a massive fuckup than a normal game involving Seattle.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:59 AM
I get it, because people complaining want it, the owners should just do it. The refs are part time employees that make a lot of money. That is their compensation. The idea that they need a pension on top of their paycheck just doesn’t make any sense. Refs suck no matter who they are. If the negotiations don’t work out, I’m guessing that by next year everything will be back to normal. Either by ramping up the training for these new guys, or stealing refs from Div I CFB.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:02 AM
Merely a communication problem, I’ll leave it at that
September 25th, 2012 at 11:04 AM
Anyone see this? If true, it’s hilarious. If not, it’s still hilarious.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:04 AM
lisa needs braces!
September 25th, 2012 at 11:05 AM
The wannebe hipsters who watch HIMYM are the ones screaming the loudest about Jon Cryer’s Emmy win.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:14 AM
At this point, the league is being penny wise and pound foolish. It’s adversely affecting their product and it’s overshadowing everything else right now.
What’s worse is, I don’t think the Owners care about it at this point. They are committed to these replacement refs and only a colossal act of leadership by the Commissioner will get the “real” refs back again.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:20 AM
I Have it DVR’d but I dunno if I’m gonna go through with watching this season. I don’t give a fuck about Bob Saget’s wife, but I would like them to finally adress it so they can stop devoting entire episodes to near-misses no one cares about. There’s coy and there’s annoying.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:33 AM
are you really operating under the thought process that part time employees don’t earn pensions all over this country?
September 25th, 2012 at 1:42 PM
Some people are born great. Others achieve greatness. Some people are born douchebags. Others achieve douchebag status. Figure out which one of those is Jerry and you win a prize.
September 26th, 2012 at 12:28 PM
I’m sorry, I forgot where your dog in this fight was? Oh that’s right…..
