Monday Night Football: Green Bay at Seattle
Are we sleeping on Seattle? In their last game, they handled the Cowboys 27-7 at home, and were able to hold the Cowboys’ trio of receivers to 9 catches for 106 yards. That opening loss to Arizona, on the road in a game that came down to a goal line play, doesn’t look so bad now. Seattle has a young athletic defense, can run the ball, and Russell Wilson will grow with each start. His performance last week was solid, and considering he has played what looks like two pretty good pass defenses so far, his early numbers can be excused. He has averaged 5.4 yards per attempt, but Dallas and Arizona are allowing less than 6 yards each to everyone this year, and they’ve played Eli Manning, Tom Brady, and Michael Vick.
Including that win last week, Seattle is 5-2 against the spread and 4-3 straight up as a home underdog, a role they will fill again tonight. The matchup will be decided by Seattle’s aggressive corners and safeties going against the Packers’ receiving group. Aaron Rodgers will need to buy time to create plays, as Seattle will play aggressively.
Green Bay much better defensively, and they will have to show up ready to stop both the scrambles and passing of former Badger quarterback Russell Wilson. Some of Wilson’s biggest fans are Cheeseheads from Wisconsin, but he’ll have to go it alone tonight.

BEAST MODE
September 24th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Let’s go Seattle +3.5!
September 24th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Bruce Irvin with the Belt move after sacking Rodgers. Fantastic
September 24th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
Whats with ESPN just scrolling starters names across the top of the screen? They can’t shut Gruden up for 30 freaking seconds to have the guys tell us what college they went to?
Caught a couple minutes of the pregame and someone asked Wilson what it would be like being “from Wisconsin” to play the Packers. Pretty sure the dude spent one cold winter there.
September 24th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
Irvin with a little discount double check. Is that right?
September 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM
Remember when the NFC West was a terrible division? Man, the bills schedule got a lot harder with how SF, SEA, and ARI are all playing
September 24th, 2012 at 9:08 PM
Seahawks defense is maniacal
September 24th, 2012 at 9:09 PM
Aaron Rodgers getting hounded by Irvin
September 24th, 2012 at 9:14 PM
No more Gruden QBV
September 24th, 2012 at 9:15 PM
Irvin coming out quarter
September 24th, 2012 at 9:16 PM
No more Gruden QB Camp plugs, please?
I like Seattle’s pass rush so far. Bringing heat.
September 24th, 2012 at 9:24 PM
They’re still a bit offensively-challenged, but their defenses are all very tough.
September 24th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
Does seattle not want to pass to the left side of their offense?
September 24th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
What a pretty deep pass to golden tate. Td seahawks.
September 24th, 2012 at 9:50 PM
Green bay o-line is crap. Seahawks with 6 or 7 sacks already
September 24th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
hope they sack him a dozen more times tonight
September 24th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Clemons with four sacks in one half. Yikes.
September 24th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
this is like playing madden 92 and running red dog blitz every play
September 24th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Man alive, these tackles are getting beat like a red headed stepchild.
Although I’m enjoying seeing discount double check get his ass kicked.
September 24th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Jared Allen is constantly touching himself seeing how bad this green bay line is playing. Vikings cant wait to play this green bay team. This season is ridiculous so far..the standings look weird
September 24th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
Also baffling how chicago looked so bad against green bay
September 24th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
Red dog blitz huh? Anytime I wanted to bring the heat it was Troy P. blitz.

How McCarthy and Rodgers don’t realize that their line isn’t good enough to throw those home run balls is mind boggling. Change the fucking the strategy and move the ball down the field ten yards at a time.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
awesome
September 24th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
100% taking the Rams, whatever the spread is next week.
I suspect Joe Public is watching this game and falling in love with Seattle. Seahawks are not the same team on the road.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
this is like playing madden 92 and running red dog blitz every play
wouldn;t you tho? seattle has little to lose, they are at home, hungry as hell, and the pack o-line sucks. saw a graphic showing that cutler was the third most sacked qb in the league since 09 or something. the first two were rodgers and can;t remember who else
September 24th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
Seahawks are not the same team on the road.
that’s why a lot of folks thought the falcons were gonna get housed yesterday. people/teams change
September 24th, 2012 at 10:07 PM
Also baffling how chicago looked so bad against green bay
no. combo of o-line bad, gb at home, bears have lost 100 straight at lambeau, cutler no good at night for some reason, and divisional opponent. no small thing is even tho folks are excited to see martz gone, it is still a new offense, cutler’s third since arriving. no apologist, just a think-maker
September 24th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Wtf….just turned game on and 8 sacks? AP-not only is Jared Allen touching himself but he’s salivating over the rest of the horrible o-lines in the NFC North.

I wonder if the Cardinals will be favored at home against the Dolphins on Sunday. Meth gentleman a bet on the game?
September 24th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
*gentleman’s bet
September 24th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Smallie, right now it is Arizona -6.5
September 24th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Lions’ O-line is only horrible against Jared Allen.
So, never mind.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Which is too low, btw
September 24th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Smallie, right now it is Arizona -6.5
that’s not enough by half. cardinals 30-10
September 24th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Answer is “Dare”, with Darren Wharton on keyboards & lead vocals. Album was “Out of the Silence”, track was “Under the Sun”. When Wharton isn’t playing with versions of Thin Lizzy, he’s doing Celtic rock with Dare.
Late 80′s metal lite, complete with perms and torn jeans. Lead single was “Abandon” – I loved those guys back then.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
cardinals and seahawks hungry, mean. make opponents poop
September 24th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Holy cow. That might be the most the Cardinals have ever been favored in a game.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Now lets go crowning the Cardinals quite yet. They could come out and lose Sunday just to prove they’re the same old Cardinals.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:20 PM
ok, Reversey Mcjinxerton
September 24th, 2012 at 10:21 PM

Benson ain’t showing much burst tonight. Maybe he’s done.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Walking I’ve been a Cardinals fan for a long time. I’ve learned to temper expectations. This might be the best Cardinals team I’ve ever sen though. Hope they can keep it up.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:25 PM

i see your Dare, and raise you with Rail. Pacific Northwest heroes I bumped into while schooling at U of Idaho in the mid 80s
September 24th, 2012 at 10:25 PM
Imagine if the cardinals had this defense back with warners offense in the superbowl vs the steelers
September 24th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
fuck that game, ap. i lost a nice payout on a squares game when harrison ran that INT back just before half
September 24th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
Vez, were you at UI while Schlereth was there?
September 24th, 2012 at 10:28 PM
AP that would have been an all time great team.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:29 PM
yes, ap, played (well, practiced) on same team as freshmen. erickson was coach, linehan qb, john l smith anf mike price were assistants. i have some great stories of that time but won;t tell unless you ask, bc i don;t like typing much
September 24th, 2012 at 10:31 PM
i was at idaho in what i can only think was its heyday athletically, bc apart from a stray pro here and there since the 80s, i know of no one famous from there. i also knew and partied with dan o’brien, who was there for a few years before he flunked out and got famous
September 24th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
i think i’ve been punked
September 24th, 2012 at 10:33 PM

September 24th, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Checked out “Hello” on http://www.railonline.net. Those guys are legit. I’m definitely gonna dig in to more of their work.
Also, I go once in a while to melodicrock.com every so often. Some cool info, and some great unintentional humor as well.

Who punked you?
ap. since i’ve been here (08), i mention anytime it’s relevant that U of I history i just laid out. i believe ap was just baiting me to boast again and i didn;t catch it in time. hooked
well played ap. well played. give yourself 20 dollars
September 24th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
Story time! Cool. You could tell one a night, or similar. I’m in.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
That ‘Hawks punter is damn good whoever he is. The Skins could use a decent punter that doesn’t get blocked every other punt.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
Slick move by AP then.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:40 PM

funny, i was going to suggest you guys watch that video. dig the lead singer’s boots. i just may pick up that album since it’s still for sale. had it on vinyl for a long time
nice martha quinn cameo there too
September 24th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Story time! Cool. You could tell one a night, or similar. I’m in.
chronologically, then. first practice, outside the kibbie dome, since opponents were all outdoor stadiums. i’m on meat squad, of course, went over middle, ball cam my way and i got blasted by at least two DBs. may have blacked out a sec
got back to huddle and erickson came over and said ‘way to go over the middle son,’ as i was bent over and trying to breathe
more to come, whenver srod asks
September 24th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Slick move by AP then.
you think you know someone, built something strong, something to last, then you realize the whole relationship was a setup
/i’ll never love again
September 24th, 2012 at 10:47 PM
Sounds like Erickson. Never met him, but in the interviews I’ve seen, he’s got that “my give-a-damn is busted” vibe.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:49 PM
only way he ever noticed me was when i showed up his 1st teamers. happened on a punt coverage drill too. john L. screamed at me in a conditioning drill when i stupidly asked if he knew a way to make a cramp go away.
Run Harder!
was his answer
September 24th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
This game sucks
September 24th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
score?
September 24th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
7-6.
I wasnt baiting you. I hadnt heard that story.
Maybe golfercraig can give me $20, vez
September 24th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
that’s messed up. But, it would have been funny if it wasn’t happening to me.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
he is set from selling a biz, so i thought perhaps he could help you. not sure what he does now, but he does have some sort of business because he has referred to his employees before. anyway, i thought it was rude of him to be incredulous that someone hadn;t made 150k in 8 years
September 24th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
I hadnt heard that story.
schlereth wore glasses back then. me and him weren;t friends but he knew me. he hit on my gf. one time me and her were getting busy, starting by the dorm window. she wanted me to pull the curtains, so i did.
a minute later there was a horrendous sound. turns out schlereth and a buddy had been watching us and threw gravel at the window when we took away the show
September 24th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Green bay just got bailed out by a BS interference call.
Seattle letting rodgers pick them apart
September 24th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
But, it would have been funny if it wasn’t happening to me.
pretty sure i knew right then it was funny. witchdoctor cure, hair of the dog category
September 24th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
Seattle has played pre-vent most of 2nd half. They deserve to lose.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:08 PM
GB should have punted, instead TD. I was told the shitty officials weren’t affecting outcomes?
September 24th, 2012 at 11:09 PM
A.P., we’re thinking the same here. Pack just dinking their way downfield.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:09 PM
bourbon time. gonna go old pogue. just can’t bring myself to rack the woodford’s. it has a special father’s day inscription on it. not sure why that’s holding me back but i can;t come up with another reason
September 24th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
Pack just dinking their way downfield.
this the way to beat that pass rush?
September 24th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Looks like it. Seattle did kinda hold on on 3rd and 1, though.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Seattle hasnt had much of a pass rush in 2nd half. Pack offense has been on field for 98% of 2nd half
September 24th, 2012 at 11:21 PM
Russell wilson has no time. Line blown up on every passing play. INT green bay
September 24th, 2012 at 11:21 PM
Wait… What just happened there???
September 24th, 2012 at 11:23 PM
Oh… Roughing the passer
September 24th, 2012 at 11:23 PM
So many penalties…..ugly
September 24th, 2012 at 11:25 PM
Fucking kidding me refs.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
These refs are atrocious
September 24th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
he said i see life going down like whisky. it burns and it warms your heart just the same
September 24th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
Another blown PI call
September 24th, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Hahahaha. Well at least it’s fair now. Pack has been screwed, so has Seattle.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Tirico and gruden not holding back criticism
September 24th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
A combined 245 penalty yards
September 24th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
Over 100 yds each in penalties. That is way too much.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
Pete carroll has stupid coaches
September 24th, 2012 at 11:30 PM
WHY ARE YOU RUNNING UP THE JAMMED MIDDLE?
September 24th, 2012 at 11:31 PM
Seattle making packets defense look great
September 24th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Tate?????? C’mon, man.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Seattle deserves to lose and they will.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:36 PM
Pete carroll is out of his league. A better coach would get this seattle team to win
September 24th, 2012 at 11:44 PM
Goofy finish. Seattle still has a chance, but I wonder about their prep for this situation.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Oh, my gosh! Which is it?????
September 24th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
unfreakinbelievable
September 24th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
SHUT THE HELL UP
September 24th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
A perfect ending to this referee shitshow
September 24th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
that’s an interception
September 24th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
To me, that should have been an int.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Oh what an epic fail/win
September 24th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Holy shit!
Holy shit!
Holy shit!
September 24th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Quite fitting. Fuck you Roger.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Eat a pile of crap, goodell and refs
September 24th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
ASTERISK
September 24th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
The regular refs are at home cheering like crazy
September 24th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
Fucking refs blew this game. This coming from a Vikings fan.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA So awful
September 24th, 2012 at 11:49 PM
Bogus.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:49 PM
The Packers just got fucked sooooo hard. I love it!
September 24th, 2012 at 11:49 PM
Now the packers can really use their excuses
September 24th, 2012 at 11:50 PM
Butters must be going on a rampage right now
September 24th, 2012 at 11:50 PM
Holy Bad News Refs… this is a joke.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
That call was awful. Love hearing Gruden pissed off too.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
The players ought to pull a union work slowdown till the refs settle with the nfl. Ech game gets worse for this officiating.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
I don’t want to hear any more whining from whiny New England fans. THAT was a robbery.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
“Angels in the End Zone”, coming from Disney in time for Christmas ’13…
September 24th, 2012 at 11:52 PM
Eh whatever. Green Bay couldn’t get a lousy first down nor the two point conversion. Reaction tomorrow should be reasonable. Can’t wait.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:55 PM
Hee hee. Packers fans will brush this off their shoulders and take the high road.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:56 PM
Butters must be going on a rampage right now
funny. i went to twitter just to see what butters was saying. kind of low key
September 25th, 2012 at 12:05 AM
Silent but deadly.
September 25th, 2012 at 12:07 AM
It was weird seeing TBL being interviewed after the game.
Correct call, that was definitely a catch – believe the receiver had at least one finger on the ball
