Michaels and Collinsworth were even mocking it during the game.

They were entertaining, but also inappropriately heaping on the refs. Colinsworth went speechless on a holding call that was entirely legit. The o-lineman had his hands outside the shoulders of the d-lineman, a move that is explicitly called illegal in the rules. I didn’t watch the final quarter, but I did not see anything inordinately (for NFL refs in general) bad compared.

This was the first time I’ve watched most of a single game this year and it’s pretty clear the replacements are way out of their depth. I’m a Pats fan but the calls were awful on both sides. They would throw a flag in the secondary and then toss a coin to decide whether it was offensive or defensive interference.

Raiders/Steelers game had multiple calls get ignored that were not only blatant but resulted in potential significant injury. Both teams were illegally screening DBs on crossing patterns. The hit on DHB, though not intentional, was clearly to the face mask/head. The chop block on Hood, which was intentional, was somehow unseen too.

This should get the debate on so many things started tomorrow. Why was the final field goal not reviewable? Why are the uprights so darn short? How long has Bill Belichick owned shirts with sleeves?

Why aren’t there cameras in a place to get a better angle?

Refs bad zero to do with that loss. Ravens were flagged for more penalties in more crucial situations. Both teams got it bad.

That was awesome. They were snarky as hell last night, and I loved it.

Way too much being written today about how the refs cost the Pats the game. The refs sucked all the way around. McDaniels trying to get way too fucking cute with the offense, and the D giving up 500+ yards is what cost the Pats the game.

I just had to log onto the Patriots website to check out the post game presser vid… Wasn’t disappointed. If there is a coach who displays more utter disdain for the press, a more conspicuous annoyance of having to be in front of the press or retorts with a more passive aggressive tone by a coach, I can’t think of it. It’s a thing of beauty really.

The pass interference calls against the Texans during the Broncos game were laughable.

The real refs suck at PI too. Careful what you wish for… when they come back, teams will average 15 penalties a game having to adjust to the new refs actually calling shit, and trying to assert their dominance/pride.
