3:30 Football: Missouri at South Carolina, Oregon State at UCLA
Missouri at South Carolina: The Tigers play their first SEC road game. Connor Shaw will start for South Carolina. James Franklin is back for Missouri. Both teams depend a lot on the quarterback run game. It will be interesting to see how they adjust. The Gamecocks’ offense habitually keep games tight, though their defensive front against Missouri’s banged up offensive line makes the difference.
Oregon State at UCLA: This game had a weird line. It opened UCLA (-11.5) and closed at UCLA (-7.5), despite nearly 70 percent of the money coming in on UCLA. Vegas, like some pundits entering the season, seems bullish on the Beavers. With only the win over Wisconsin to judge by, the jury on them remains out. Not much game experience, but more practice time and less of a book on them for opposing teams. The Bruins have impressed early, but could execute better. They rank 94th in third down conversion percentage and 107th in turnovers.
Temple at Penn State: This battle determines the best team in Pennsylvania, though Pitt may have reentered the discussion (as pathetic as that is). Perhaps the better question is whether anyone outside Pennsylvania cares? Penn State has a 36-0-1 record against Temple since World War II began, though the Nittany Lions barely escaped with a 14-10 win last year. PSU’s Sam Ficken will hope to make a few field goals and get people to stop writing about him.

Can you blame him? Guess only difference is we (at least chances are) wouldn’t get caught in the act and then have said proof posted for the world to see.

UCLA on the doorstep of falling from the ranks of the unbeatens.
I still expect them to beat USC.
Pulling for the RichRods later on against the Webfoots.

Ex-Pirates owner McClatchy says he’s gay
Oh, lord, I can’t wait to see the TBL post on this.

That statement applies to many things they put on there.

Just trying to figure out how TBL will connect the Pirates’ fall from contention and missing the postseason for the 20th straight year to a story about the ex-owner’s sexuality, and also work contraction into it all.

BTW, re last night’s TBLAD, happy to see that I’m now getting Red Zone in addition to NFL Network on Time-Warner.

My initial enthusiasm for Sam Adams’ Octoberfest this year has waned considerably.

Yes they do. Had some at Bandito’s in Snider Plaza last week. Rahr is starting to get my attention with what they are putting out.

I tried to get beer last night on the way home from work, the rare time I saw that the store by my house was still open. But by the time I made a U-Turn they had turned the “Open” sign off, and as soon as I pulled in the parking lot they shut out the parking lot lights. I finished the rest of the 4 minute drive home, rejected and defeated.

Watching Harvard and Brown play. I keep hearing Lisa Simpson say “No not Brown!” over and over again.

Ugly Pug is excellent.
Man, that’s like hitting on a drunk fat chick as the bar’s closing and having her turn you down.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:04 PM
Brown, your cheerleaders. Woof.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:05 PM
I must ask, when there is football on TV, why you are watching that.

Curiosity. I haven’t seen two teams of mostly white players play football since I was a Freshman in high school.
/went to a private Catholic high school
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:06 PM
It’s also a decent game. Brown just scored. Harvard still leads 31-24 early in the 4th.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:07 PM
OK, that’s acceptable.
TV needs to develop a “cheerleader cam” for one-sided or really dull games, so we have something to keep us tuned in.

The Dmcd1974 League?
Ddmcd1974 wouldn’t be caught dead on an Ivy League campus. Too many liberal elitist professors teaching the greatness of gay rights.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:10 PM
I just learned that this is only the third night game Brown has ever hosted. They are 2-0 all time at night.

When I was growing up, New Orleans’ Catholic schools had their own football district, and all the schools were lily-white except for one, which was all-black. Guess which school dominated that league?
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:11 PM
Harvard just scored. It’s about to be 38-24 with 11 minutes left.

Sounds like the perfect place for Kevin McClatchy to endow a chair or a professorship.

LSU-Auburn is under way, my attention is diverted for the next three hours.

I’ve got LSU-Auburn on channel return. Oh Brad Nessler, your voice could calm a rabid wolverine.

How’s that decided schematic advantage goin’ for ya, Jayhawks?

I’d pour one out, but the liquor store denied me last night, I don’t have any TO pour out. Plus, I wouldn’t pour one out for him anyways.

Was last night the one night per week that liquor stores are open in your county?

I get off work at 11:30 at night, the store by my house is rarely still open that late. There’s only one around that is guaranteed to still be open, but by the time I go there, get beer, get home, take care of the dog, it’s 1 in the morning by the time I start cracking beers. Fuck that.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:21 PM
That sucks. Liquor stores are only open until 9 here (and are not open on Sundays at all), but on Saturdays you can buy beer until 1am.

Poorly. Five (5) Star recruit Dayne Crist is not a D1 college quarterback.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:23 PM
Couldn’t get it here Sundays for the longest time, now they have to close by 8 on Sunday, most close at like 5 or 6, though. Asides from Sunday I think they’re legally allowed to be open till 1 AM or maybe just midnight, but only one actually does stay open that late.

Need to decide on a TBLAD post, this or the Saturday Night Football post.
I vote for the latter, as Soused is already in form over there.
