It’s a happy problem. Bars/pubs here and especially in my neighborhood are moving to small brewery only taps. Each neighborhood is seemingly getting their own brewery and there is outrage at the enforced monopoly of the cunty Beer Store.

I’m not saying its a problem that doesn’t result in a better apprecation of the “good” ones vs the “bad” ones, but there genuinely are some products out there that would’ve been better off had they never been made. I guess the market ultimately makes that decision, but I feel that eventually we will be at a point where it isn’t so much about the taste and overall quality of the product and its more about who can tout the highest hops count and the coolest named product.

I can drink a sixer of Two Hearted ($9.99) and I’m more than golden, or drink 12 Coors lights ($13.99) and feel even worse the next day. Cheaper, feel better in the morning, and the quality/taste is exponentially better. It’s really a no-brainer.

you basically trip over 30 options to get to the handful that are good.

Not hard to find the brewers that know what they’re doing and stock with them. For example Stone makes great IPAs and has a variety of them, so you know an IPA from Stone is good.
