I love me some slow cooked BBQ, bet she had fall off the bone ribs
September 19th, 2012 at 8:16 AM
Not sure I’m thrilled with Bundy coming up right now. But after last night’s 18-inning marathon, they’re probably out of pitchers anyway.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:17 AM
Dylan Bundy, he of the knee-buckling curveball, has been called up by the Orioles.
The combination of this and the 18 inning win last night, all in a span of 5 hours, has left me in a state of shock.
/Go O’s
//Why not?
///Makes it easy to forget that we have a soon to be 9-7 football team.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:18 AM
Not sure I’m thrilled with Bundy coming up right now.
Agree that I don’t like him coming out of the bullpen but if there ever was a team to debut against in a one inning relief cameo, it would be the Mariners and that putrid line up they run out there.

The paper says “guests cavorted in a pool and performed sex acts, while scantily clad Russian women danced on platforms,” at a rented home in Bridgehampton, N.Y., during a summer bash last year. The Post said Leder went on something of a tear after his wife of 22 years, Lisa, cheated on him with her tennis instructor in 2009.

If Cabrera DOES win the triple crown, it will set up an interesting “old school stats” vs. WAR decision for MVP voters. Trout is putting up historic WAR numbers, but how do you not vote for a triple crown winner?
/yeah, I know DiMaggio won the MVP in ’47 when Williams won the Triple Crown

Yes he is…Miggy is great, having a great season, but what Trout has done is in the best seasons of all time level. Oh and he is a plus plus plus defender in CF. Miggy is well below average at 3B.

Posted this in the “Vince Young is Broke” post last night but the comments thread was already dead. Figured I’d put it here too. Just a lil’ something to brighten your days.
A friend of mine had a class with Vince
Young at UT. It was a sociology class,
dealing with human sexuality. One day the
prof was expounding on foreplay and asked
a question along the lines of “what is
foreplay?” Vince raised his hand and said
“that’s like suckin’ on titties and what-not”
True story.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Hard to believe he scored a 12 on the Wonderlic.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Penelope will hold up better over time but Salma wins in the present.
Both at once.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
Still time for Mauer to get on a roll and win the batting title over Miggy. If that happens I can see Trout getting the MVP.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
Just looked again at the ’95 MVP voting. Had no idea that John Valentin had the highest WAR for position players that year. Vaughn beat Belle 308-300 in the voting. Valentin finished 9th.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
Nice to see that UT football players not only attend class, but also participate. True scholar-athletes.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
If Cabrera DOES win the triple crown, it will set up an interesting “old school stats” vs. WAR decision for MVP voters. Trout is putting up historic WAR numbers, but how do you not vote for a triple crown winner?
WAR isn’t an end all-be all. Trout’s big lead in WAR is due to defensive numbers, which are acknowledged to be less accurate, especially in 1 year samples. His WAR is 3 better than McCuthen defensively, and I’m not buying that.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:46 AM

September 19th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
Totally agree with you. Calling the defensive component of WAR questionable might be kind.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:49 AM
At the moment, I’d take Penelope over Salma. In their primes that would be reversed. But Sofia Vergara in her prime probably would be ahead of both.

I think the O’s can effectively use Bundy in this stint similar to what the Rays did with David Price when they brought him up for the first time.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Valentin finished 9th.
Where’d Kenny Lofton finish?
September 19th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
I’m actually toying with the idea of picking up Matt Cassell and using him against that horrendous NO defense this week instead of Michael Vick @ Arizona. Silly?

Trout is better defender than McCutchen. I don’t see how this is debateable.

September 19th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Can’t wait until Bill Simmons chips in his two cents on the AL MVP race, saying Trout should get it because it would be more convenient for him to remember.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
What’s wrong with getting a little ass?
September 19th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
not silly at all. I think if the eagles move the ball against the cardinals they have to use mccoy creatively and not in just a straight up running game.
then again, had the pats come out and rolled with no huddle from the start of the game we’d probably be talking differently about the cardinals defense based on the last quarter and a half of sunday’s game.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
I hope Mayweather spends the rest of his life in jail. That guy is one of the biggest asshole athletes of all time.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:55 AM
I think the O’s can effectively use Bundy in this stint similar to what the Rays did with David Price when they brought him up for the first time.
Only issue with this is that the bullpen is the team’s greatest strength while the starting rotation is the area with the most glaring need. With 14 games left, would give him 2 spot starts and see what you get.
September 19th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
I thought the same thing but have a hard time benching Rodgers.

September 19th, 2012 at 8:59 AM

3 WAR better? or said another way, 1/2 of their offensive production better?
September 19th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Feel like they can’t afford to have two bad starts should Bundy stumble. They need to win the division, not get stuck in some one-game playoff that decides their season. Those two games could very well matter, and starting a 19 year old there is a risky move.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I’m actually toying with the idea of picking up Matt Cassell and using him against that horrendous NO defense this week instead of Michael Vick @ Arizona. Silly?
Pick up Brandon Weeden off the waiver wire. If somebody hasn’t plucked him up already.
/may or may not be serious.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
Unless you think Vick is going to get injured I wouldn’t. NO’s D has to prepare for one less dimension with Cassell than they did with RG3 and Cam; and Vick can have a bad game and get you 16 fantasy points. With Matt Cassell, you have to hope he has a good game.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
But who cares? Trout is the best CF in baseball, he saves his team tons of runs in the field. Cabrera costs the Tigers runs. And offensively Cabrera and Trout, while doing things a bit differently, are at parity.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:02 AM

Gotta say this for the donkey fucker – he is wise to the mugshot game. All smiles, that creep.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Does anyone impact the game in more ways than Trout does? The stat that Verducci pulled out that impresses me is the team record of 72-52 when he plays and I agree, right now he is the best player in baseball.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Feel like they can’t afford to have two bad starts should Bundy stumble. They need to win the division, not get stuck in some one-game playoff that decides their season. Those two games could very well matter, and starting a 19 year old there is a risky move.
I don’t think Buck will allow for any truly terrible start the rest of the way. With 5 “starters” (Arrieta, Hunter, Johnson, Matusz & Wolf) in the ‘pen, can’t see him ever allowing the starter to give up more than 4 runs.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Is there a stat that makes tangible how many runs Trout saves and Cabrera loses for their respective teams? Or is this subjective analysis? Honest question.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Alex Morgan says she gets marriage proposals on twitter basically every day
It’s like they went out of their way to get the worst, most turkeyneckish photo.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Yes he is. Trout has better range and I think is blowing away McCutchen in Bill James +/- defensive effeciency as well. FRAA (Baseball Prospectus defensive stat which focuses on play-by-play instead of zones and normalizes for parks) has Trout at 4.8, McCutchen at -4.1.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Because SC never finished his database of user beliefs and memes, I honestly don’t know if you are joking or not.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
I’d be interested to see some kind of Lisk breakdown on instances like this. I know I’ve tried to outsmart myself on match-ups like that before and had it backfire. or at least not turn out as well as expected. because in the end, Cassell is still a pretty shitty QB with not many options to throw to. and he still plays for the Chefs.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
And offensively Cabrera and Trout, while doing things a bit differently, are at parity
This is a good argument. But taking the easy approach, it just feels like Cabrera has the edge. I’d love to vote for Trout and actually hope he gets it, but Miggy’s numbers are just ridiculous. Good arguments all around though.

September 19th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
I agree that Trout is the best, but disagree that team wins is anywhere near his most impressive stat.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
UZR has problems, but is not without value. But this is certainly a case where it matches up with the consensus, subjective opinion among people who know how to judge a player defensively.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
In a career year for a Hall of Fame player who might win the first Triple Crown since 1967, he might not even get the MVP. That tells how you good Trout is.

Sure. FanGraphs is the easiest place to find numbers like this, and to get explanations. Trout, Cabrera.
Like I said, the problems with UZR are a bit nuanced. Some of the best analysis is over at BP like this. Still lots of room for improvement with defensive metrics.

well, you have a much harder time defending a TC winner, the first since the 1960s (and fat too), not winning it than trout. neither will make the postseason anyway so how much they helped their teams is irrelevant. trout would obv win the fielding portion of the discussion tho that;s mostly offensive usually

the bundy call up is unique because of his mentality and track record. i don’t think anyone would normally support the move, but it’s been said that bundy has that roger clemens mentality on the mound – making him less vulnerable to losing confidence in himself – and the orioles are in dire need of another arm.

September 19th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
the bundy call up is unique because of his mentality and track record.
Another reason I think its a great move. Doesn’t seem like he is the type to have confidence destroyed by one bad outing.

Well, the man is right
September 19th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Ah yes…the old days, when things like the chicks on The Grind had to get it done.

If anyone can jmorris the history of the hatred that some folks have for Seth MacFarlane, I’ll hang up and listen.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Annoying fantasy question… who has the better fantasy season from this point forward, Nelson or Jennings?
September 19th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
You know who’s turned out to be unexpectedly pretty? Julie Benz. First season she was on Dexter, she looked like a plain jane. But by the end, she turned out to be sexy as hell. Also, I’d recommend checking out youtube clips of her appearing on Desperate Housewives.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
did not care for her, as i have no love for asian women or fake-titted and fake tanned women
Hawaiian is its own race. She was Hawaiian and did an outside fitness show so I’d venture her tan was real.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Sweet. If I combine this with my only loves me for my money wife and “They Were Killing Each Other Anyway” history book, is that like a Bromes Full House?

I’d go with Jordy

You folks do know that Asian doesn’t only constitute yellow skinned people, right?

Nothing will ever top his anger at not getting an inheritance from his grandparents. Not even anything Paolo ever said.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
True. Joey Votto plays at least 8 games per year in Milwaukee, but I don’t see why you would point that city out specifically.

I have her Playboy spread stored in the early 90′s portion of my spank bank.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
I’m so happy he plays for the Packers. There might not be a more unlikeable player right now.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
The new season looks promising. Watched the Boardwalk premier last night. Meh.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
Touche.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
Didn’t realize Jay Cutler took over the QB spot for the Packers…weird.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I gave up after season finale a couple years back when Dexter’s sister talked to him from behind the curtains. Just couldn’t take it anymore. And judging by everyone I talked to, I’m not missing much.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Cutler’s so entertaining, I can’t call him unlikeable. Finley makes me wish he’d get leveled every time he went over the middle.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
That was the thing I was most surprised about when I watched the Niners/Packers. That guy is a fuck.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
MLS performs terribly. What a shock.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Kind of enjoyed Boardwalk. It will be a glorious day on that show when Margaret gets a bullet from Nucky.
Dexter peaked with Trinity….I’m sticking it out just to see what happens. I fully expect this season to be completely ridiculous now that Deb knows what’s up.

Más Penelope Cruz, por favor. Las mujeres de España son guapísimas.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Close, but I go Jordy. Jennings is always banged up, but he does put the team on his back doe.

You know who’s turned out to be unexpectedly pretty? Julie Benz.
I don’t know how unexpected she was. I dont’ watch that show, but they probably just toned her way down. She’s always been hot, all the way back to Jawbreaker.
It will be a glorious day on that show when Margaret gets a bullet from Nucky.
I’d rather they brought back Paz de la Huerta than any more Mrs Schroeder. I’m really sick of that lousy character.
September 19th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
I wasn’t familiar with her work until I watched her on Dexter. She looked like a hot mess first season of that show. It had to be by choice. She had just gotten a divorce and struggling with a couple of kids.

This is a clear case in which the pic on the teaser page should have been used on the Roundup instead.
Penelope Cruz + me + Selma Hayek = one happy sandwich

Turns out the Lohan arrest is likely on the guy allegedly struck by her car –
On the Jesus papyri – a) it wouldn’t really matter if he was married – the gospels simply don’t care to relate that; but b) the papyri is from late 2nd, 3rd or potentially 4th century (if it is genuine) and would be a gnostic text; these are virtually unreliable with respect to telling us anything historically accurate about Jesus. They do tell us about the beliefs of gnostic Christians (which were far removed from the four gospels and the NT documents).
