Florida Atlantic Defensive End: “[Alabama] can be beat. We got speed against them.” The Owls are 51-point Underdogs.
Alabama is the No. 1 ranked team in the country, 3-0, and permitting opponents just 4.7 ppg. The Tide defense, which (again) features several future NFL players, hasn’t given up a score in nine quarters.
Florida Atlantic of the Sun Belt conference, is 1-2 and coming off a 56-20 thumping at the hands of Georgia. Last year, the Owls went 1-11. The Owls are 50-point underdogs against Nick Saban’s defending champs. But here’s what FAU defensive end Cory Henry had to say about the Tide:
“They ain’t what people think,” Henry said. “They’re good and everything but they can beat, too. They just execute well. They just execute and beat you.”
And Henry was not through. He was then asked if FAU had any kind of advantage.
“We got speed against them,” he said. “You got speed you can win.”
Right. Sun Belt speed!
FAU got paid $1 million for getting pummeled by the Bulldogs; the Owls will also receive a cool million for the ignominy of losing by about eight touchdowns to the Tide. [Palm Beach Post]

Yeah they have no chance, but I think FAU will improve under Carl Pelini.

I bet they put up a better fight than the Hogs.

Good for him. I hope he’s right.

They have a new found confidence after the recent NFL success of last year’s star RB Alred Morris.

Whatever you have to say to fire yourself up for the game, I guess.
Maybe he will be quoting Dennis Green after the game, who knows?
/Roll Tide

one of the fastest teams i can remember seeing, the tebow florida teams, was fairly bludgeoned in 2009 by a slowish bama D.

btw, pay attention to caribou. he’s been pretty dead on with his gambling advice the last couple weeks. i know, bc i have not acted on his tips, to my detriment

Free publicity. Why would anyone give a crap about Florida Atlantic otherwise?

Thanks for the love. As I’ve gotten older and learned to listen to my Old Man, he’s best line to me? “Son, I’d rather be lucky than good”.

They won’t do as well against Bama as Western Kentucky did.
September 19th, 2012 at 11:19 AM
That’s what he is supposed to say and think.
September 19th, 2012 at 11:19 AM
Yep, they can be beat… by the Cleveland Browns maybe. Or LSU. Not by FAU.
Nothing like giving them a reason to run up the score. I kinda wish FAU would blow up twitter with some real trash talk. I’d love to throw a couple bucks on “over 99.5 points scored by Alabama”

Eh. I’m not sure the guys on Alabama care, one way or the other, about this guy popping off. They are going to roll this team regardless of who says what.
I agree. Anything else is loser talk.

Fuckin Sun Belters are getting cocky
September 19th, 2012 at 11:31 AM
I guess, it’s not like they have a chance in hell anyways. What’s the harm in talking a little smack.

the dismantling the Razorbacks took over the weekend wasn’t even the worst part of my weekend. it was a bad enough game where the Bammers that were in town didn’t even feel the need to get close enough to me to talk shit where I could smell their fried food cologne. a shame really.*
