Stephen A. Smith: The Onion Wrote About Him Arguing With His (Fake) Son and He Fell For It
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you. Stephen A. Smith, as one of ESPN’s most noisy and visible commentators, has plenty of people out to get him. Enter The Onion, one of America’s most famous – and hilarious – satire factories. Today they published the story entitled “Stephen A. Smith Thinking Son Is Finally Ready For The Sex Argument.” Decent enough joke, but what made it really funny is that Stephen A. Smith either didn’t click the link or was not familiar with The Onion. Needless to say, Stephen A. was not happy to hear such lies.
I thought I’d heard enough despicable lies about myself. Now there’s some article out that I have a 9-yr-old son and I’m going to have a

Conversation with him about Sex. Mind you, I neither have a son nor a 9-Year-old. Some ppl are beyond despicable. No end! Sad what extent
— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) September 17, 2012
People will go to. Amazing how folks try to tear cats down, primarily due to perceived power of the spoken word. Damn Shame, but too bad.
— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) September 17, 2012
Because I don’t intend on going anywhere. Really, Really sad, though!
— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) September 17, 2012
So if you’re keeping track at home, Stephen A. Smith does not have a 9-year-old son. Fortunately (unfortunately?) someone eventually clued Stephen A. into the joke.
Haaaaa. The got me. I didn’t know it was on Satire! Got it. Peeps got jokes. It’s cool!

Notice he didn’t deny the part about his own father arguing with him about the birds and the bees. They say a lot of truth is said in jest…

Him and fucking Michael Irvin are the worst. Fell asleep (passed out) to the NFL channel last night and was rudely awakened by that piece of shit Irvin. I hate him. I hate being woken up. I hate loud assholes. I was still drunk/hungover. Not good.
/Awaken? Woken? Woke? Awoke? That’s a fucking tough one.

Spencer – Once you are out of your haze and allow yourself to post again this evening, I found this about Tiger’s endorsements.
I was interested. Googled it.

Holy shit.
Also, I accidentally Googled Tiger Williams first. His caddy has made $20 m off caddying tourneys. %15 of the cut from each tourney. Dayem.

I remember someone on here saying something when The Onion came up about how nobody reads it anymore and there was a better satire site and it was some piece of shit they linked to. Anyone remember that?

I’m old enough that I read The Onion in newsprint form from the stand outside the KU Student Union. That is when they were based in Madison.
They were the prototype for internet satire. I don’t visit the site often anymore. There are so many satire/snarky sites that it is hard to keep up with. There may be better satire/snarky fake news articles site, but The Onion is probably still king. Or should be. But people read them.

Well done, sir. I’d have gone with 1 and 4/8 year old, but I never thought to bring up the meme. You win.

First internet win. Feels good. But it drives me nuts. Maybe when I become a parent I might care about the exact month, but now, just give me a year or call him a youngster

KC…before the scandal he was making about $40mm on top of THAT for a few straight years. that’s like…empire money.

Yeah, 18 months is usually the end of that. After that it is, “he is almost two.” Using months to signify age is baseball speak for parents. The difference between 12 months and 18 months (or any below that) is significant and people with kids know what you are talking about.

Fucking unbearable. My daughters mom tried to pull that shit when she was little. “She’s 17 months” um, no, stupid, she’s fucking 1. Then she’ll be two, and so on. Hated that shit.
/Shocked that marriage didn’t last.

There is no way Tiger gave Stevie a standard caddie percentage. Dream on. He knew that’d be obsene givin Tiger’s rate of top finishes. I read an article where the one year some writer asked Steve if Tiger gave him a Xmas present and he said yeah, Tiger gave me a scorecard from some round where I keyed him on some good reads on his putts. Now, obviously Tiger can do whatever he wants but he is a notorious cheap ass. That one hooker asked for dinner and he told her he’d get her Subway. So basically there is NO WAY Stevie got paid the normal caddie percentages…

Stephen A. Smith has to be one of the dumbest sports commentators in the world. Amazing that he can even get hired.
