If memory serves, Buffalo looked like world beaters after Week One last season. Which means everyone can settle down.
Except Browns fans, you guys really are bad.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:10 AM
Sigh. The whole thing is depressing. Oh well, NFL season finally starts tonight at 7. Who dey.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Fuck Coach K. Fuck Duke.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:26 AM
Now that is an interior roundup picture.
Cant believe people get that close to wild fucking animals.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:26 AM
Steelers already in midseason form by being down to their 8th offensive lineman.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Ravens have a chance to take a one-game lead over the entire AFC North tonight with a prime time home game. Naturally, they will lose by 20.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Great weekend. Kid’s birthday, football, great weather. Can’t beat it.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
Yes, I see Todd Haley has revolutionized the Steelers’ offense by having Ben run around a bunch then chunk the ball up.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
Late on this, but I really enjoyed the college football wrap up post Sunday morning. Nice to get the same today for NFL. What kind of college football posts are we getting today? I’d like a post where I can complain about how terrible the Huskers looked Saturday night.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Saints deserved to lose that game.
O-Line couldn’t protect Brees like they used to, couldn’t open running lanes, coaching staff abandoned the run (only 10 attempts????), Brees wasn’t as sharp as he usually is, receivers weren’t hanging onto the ball, the defense got gassed because the Redskins held onto the ball for 39 minutes, the secondary remains a buncha no catching motherfuckers, and….and…fuck, I’m not sure what else at the moment, but this team is lucky to have only lost the game by 8 points.
/needed to get that out
September 10th, 2012 at 8:42 AM
That Breaking Bad death chart is awesome.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Dont know what the hell Ben was doing throwing that pick last night. The play looked like a flood to the right, Sanders didnt even really run a route on the left.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
If he keeps practicing maybe he make a career out of this.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:48 AM

Oh and the wedding trending article is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in a while. How about you enjoy your fuckin wedding and not worry about reminding people to tweet about it every two minutes?
September 10th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
re: rory…uh…fuck.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
if the game last Saturday was any indication, they may need a fleet of sexy ambulances backed up to Razorback Stadium this Saturday.

“Illegal monkey living on Frosted Flakes bites woman”
I’ve had a bowl of Frosted Flakes to start my day about 1/5 of my life. I’m 36.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Are fucking losers.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:53 AM
yea, that offense is horrible. but the defense was pretty good i thought.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
A lot of black people don’t have the privilege of knowing about grape juice, because they have grape drink. It’s not the same formula that whites get.
September 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Should be forced to invite everyone who tweets about their wedding
September 10th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Dont know what the hell Ben was doing throwing that pick last night. The play looked like a flood to the right, Sanders didnt even really run a route on the left.
He had Heath wide open running down the middle of the field. Oh well, they couldn’t do anything on D against Peyton once he went no huddle.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:00 AM
I’m pretty sure Rory could go solo and beat a Kuchar-Johnson team in some team events.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:01 AM
Steelers will be lucky to win six games, why is pot in parenthesis, and boy am I glad to see the media jumping all over the Lance Thomas thing when they ignored UNC.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
They obviously couldn’t read any of the 12,756 signs in and around the park telling you to stay the fuck away from the animals.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:04 AM

My brother-in-law just died yesterday and I’m feeling really sad. Can I please get a RT to brighten my day?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
At least I had beer to comfort me while watching the Eagles and Browns not being able to get out of each other’s way.

Alessandra is a babe. I used to think her head looked weird (still do, sometimes), but man she can get it.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Well done.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
oh I know. sadly, I don’t think that game can be pinned on John L. the offensive playcalling in the second half was beyond terrible. ULM’s QB threw the ball 68 times and the QB was running wild, and almost no defensive adjustments were made to stop it. and that doesn’t even begin to address the OL. woof.

Because it was UNC football. You think this would even get a mention if it was a Duke football player?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
this is what will happen…you will win a game that everyone says you have no chance at. he will give you hope…then lose 5 straight.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Maybe after Capers gets fired the Packers can offer Dick Jauron more money…make it so, Ted
September 10th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
so much for that big bama/ark showdown next weekend…
/not impressed with bama’s oline in the first two games
all things considered, Bama could get run off the field @ LSU on 11/3.

September 10th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Do you live under a rock? You could literally not open a paper in the southeast without reading about the UNC football scandal. Now, the AFAM case gets an almost-daily update in the N&O and other NC publications. Maybe the reason why the AFAM study isn’t getting media traction is because it was handled internally and with few details released to the media, and the fact that they have been cleared in one of the 4(?) sets of issues they are dealing with. Just because the local paper in Anytown, USA isn’t covering it doesn’t mean UNC isn’t sweating bullets in NC.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:14 AM
Exactly. What in the world is so hard to understand about that?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
I would think cocaine is a much better parental drug, especially in the first six months.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
You’re right. Julius Peppers wasn’t a two sport star and Lance Thomas was the focal point of that Duke title team.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
I must say it was quite enjoyable to be around so many Eagles fans at the bar turning completely on Vick and calling for Nick Foles

September 10th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
@Ohheelyeah…don’t know if you were serious about your ludicrous ECU over SC prediction on Saturday…but if so, good call.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Though in actuality, even as a Duke fan, it would be kind of awesome to see them get smacked. Any time any of the bullshit “we do it the right way” schools gets in trouble, it’s a good thing.

September 10th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
So all of the Assassins Creed II players, i “finished” the game last night, and good gracious that game was amazing. I am jonesin’ for the next title (brotherhood?). Also, killed an hour at best buy while the wife was running errands and I played with the nintendo 3ds xl. I thought a grown ass man would be too old for a handheld gaming system, but man was that thing fun.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
I believe it was BJ Upton who hit the three homers. Justin plays in Arizona.

September 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Yeah, right now the Dolphins sucks worse than the Browns. At least you guys almost beat Philly, we had our ass handed to us.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Read more like a hippie throwing a fit.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
@JayV – nah, wasn’t serious by a long shot. I told the wife that we would have 3 3rd quarter turnovers. Thats what we do: get a few plays away from a tie ballgame going in to halftime, and then shit ourselves in the 3rd quarter.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
???????????
McCarron has been sacked 8x already, against an awful Michigan dline and WKY. that oline was supposed to be a strong point this year. it’s full of experience.
let’s hope it’s just rust or LSU will rip McCarron to shreds.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Brotherhood takes II and makes it better. Plus it confines you to one city (Rome). Plus the Guild missions and side quests are awesome.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
No one ever says this when the Eagles won a game, so week one is obviously a rousing success.
/plugs ears, closes eyes
September 10th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
I think Miami beats Cleveland by 10 points. The Browns might be the worst team in the league.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
some of those were coverage sacks, and mccarron holding onto the ball too long. I’d 4 of those can be blamed elsewhere. the run blocking is superb.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Unless Nick Foles can do something about the 12 penalties the Eagles committed, I don’t think he’s the answer.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM

September 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Because of the people at my place, my two TVs focused on Eagles/Browns and Dolphins/Texans at 1 o’clock. Some ugly freaking football.
The Dolphins turned the ball over on what… three straight snaps?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
/how the other half lives
//goes back to cussing and belittling his players and teaching AA big men how to set screens for his guards
September 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
I thought Cleveland’s defense wasn’t bad.
You can’t tell me that Brandon Weeden gives the Browns a better shot at winning than Colt McCoy does (or did), however.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Bama running the vaunted Steelers Offense I see.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Haha. I was kind of surprised that Reid didnt bench Vick for at least a series though. Horrific decision making.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Here’s my issue…you have Shady McCoy who was getting every carry 5+ yards, and you have Vick throw the ball 50+ times? When will Andy Reid ever fucking learn? Give McCoy the ball 25 times.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Rebounding is for faggots.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Giants are in last! Have the NFC East right where they want them.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Philly – a whole game set in Rome? I can get behind that. I need to go “finish” ACII. There is one glyph left somewhere, and I need to go back and get it and complete the video segment thing. I gave up on the feathers when I got to 30 some. and the treasure chests. i have more money than i could ever spend.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
I still find it almost impossible to believe that Cleveland thought that taking Weeden in the 1st round was a good idea.
Oh, wait, it’s the Browns…
September 10th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
cowboy – it’s all about the baby hook! gotta get low on the block and get to the line!
/every UNC big man since, well, ever.
//you guys seem successful with a different approach, so what do i know
September 10th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Cleveland’s defense was OK, aided heavily by Vick attempting throws a high school QB knows not to make.
The Weeden start screams draft pick justification. He’ll get better, but those picks he threw — especially the last one that sailed 20 feet over the wideout’s head — were embarrassing. Couple that with the worst set of receivers in the league and an average rookie running back, and the Browns are in trouble.
/now guaranteed to sweep Baltimore
September 10th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
This drives me insane. It’s like Reid forgets McCoy is on the team or something.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Vick took what, 9 snaps in the preseason? I’m not freaking out (yet).
The O-line looks like it could be trouble, though. Could miss Peters even more than expected.
No bad teams in the division this year, either.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
So now you’re implying the media ignored the Julius Peppers transcript?
Have you been to sites like…THIS ONE in the past few weeks? Doesnt matter that Thomas wasnt the focal point, its Duke basketball, Coach K, Mr. Team USA, had a player that payed $30 grand on a $100,000 tab for a bunch of jewelry.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
This site isn’t the media.
He’s as dirty as Droopy Dog down the road. They both need to get caught.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Guys, McCoy had 26 official touches yesterday and at least 5 more that played out but called back on a penalty. Don’t think you can give a guy like him the ball much more than that.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Yeah, but he’s a rookie, so he’s younger. Never mind.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
The loss of Peters and having King Dunlap at LT is going to be scary all season. I’m not looking forward to next Sunday against the Ravens.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Has any site done a rundown of the best officiating mistakes from yesterday yet?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Good to see the Saints get their rightful comeuppance yesterday.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
The Eagles are going to be frustrating for many reasons, but I doubt McCoy touching the ball too little will rank very highly on the list.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
If one positive by-product came out of this whole PSU mess, it’s that more stories like UNC and Thomas are being brought to light. Everyone is corrupt. Everyone hides things. Everyone cheats to win.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
And?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
See, here’s the thing. I have watched these two cats for a lonnnnng time, and while they each have their flaws, I just don’t see either of them being “dirty”. Neither of them have a WWW that hangs around the program, neither have had wins vacated, both tend to eventually leave the shady recruits alone, and both could easily be exonerated from their schools current issues. I could see some of the UNC kids having been steered towards the AFAM classes and Roy having never known about it, just like I can see Lance buying a bunch of diamond Jesus heads and K knowing nothing about it. Now, those opinions are to a man. I can’t speak to the rest of the staff or outlying supporting staff and advisers.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
That would be an incredibly petty thing to do.
Surprised we haven’t seen it on this site yet.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
“in trouble” indicates there was hope for a successful season, which isn’t the case when you’re starting like seven rookies. if you had expectations yesterday, that’s your fault. there was progress to be seen and things to be encouraged by.
but i agree with whomever said mccoy would given them a better chance.
and it’s funny a flacco apologist is ripping another QB for making horrible throws into coverage.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Colt wouldn’t have thrown those picks because colt can’t throw that far down the field
I take solace knowing that in mid october when the new owner takes over he will most likely clean house and this awful coach and FO will be done. Just gonna hit a big ole reset button on this whole disaster
This of course means the browns will take a qb with their 1st pick (unless weeds shows considerable improvement) because a) he sucks and b) no one remaining will have any loyalty to that pick.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
If any site is going to do it, it’ll be Deadspin. Tim Burke seems to have a personal vendetta against the NFL for not rolling over for the ref’s demands
September 10th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Biggest surprise: Blaine Gabbert looks salvageable. Okay, it’s against the Vikings crappy defense who gives up more first downs on 3rd and long than any team ever, but the Dome can still be tough to play in.
Ponder rebounded after looking lousy in the first half. 6 of the last 9 drives led to points. He’ll be even better once they add Jerome Simpson.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Collinsworth and Michaels seemed unnecessarily snarky when commenting on calls made by the replacement refs a few times. I thought the refs did an adequate job.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
maybe the best commenting roundup in weeks! Thank, you football.
oh, and for Bills fans … just posted on Mario Williams. enjoy!
September 10th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
55 of McCoy’s yards came in the 4th quarter. I’m guessing most of that after Vicks 4th interception.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Here’s the thing: outside of the clock management issues and not being in position to see the 12-man penalty on Pitt that was missed, these refs didn’t do any worse than regular NFL refs. I love hearing fans complain about these replacement officials when regular refs have screwed up PI, holding, and roughing the passer for a decade.
If I had to choose, my favorite bad call was the PI flag in the Packers-49ers that came on a pass 15 feet over the wideout’s head. It’s like no one remembers the uncatchable ball rule anymore.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Worked so well when the Dolphins changed ownership.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Can’t argue with this. But from an SEO perspective, you’d think an officials post would be gold.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
every fantasy “expert” can get fucked for recommending jennings over mjd yesterday. though, i’m equally as dumb for even considering sitting a top 5 RB.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Al was way worse on Wednesday, making sure to point out multiple times the ref was an 8th grade history teacher or whatever. He toned it down last night
September 10th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
More than adequate. People are acting like the regular officials were flawless.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
What did Browns fans do during Modell moment of silence?
September 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
oh, and for Bills fans … just posted on Mario Williams. enjoy!
this just in: every d-lineman ever bitches about being illegally blocked (and rightfully so).
September 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
The replacement officials are awful. If you think they’re fine you aren’t paying attention.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
I guess I shouldn’t be too upset, except for Vick’s decision making.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Holding and hands to the face are going to be used liberally by O-lines around the league until the real refs are back.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Ludicrous. As a coach, you sure as hell better know what your players are taking. And when they are ALL taking the same classes? Those are fire alarms going off.
Now, this I can believe. Sort of. If your head is in the sand.
/Can’t believe I just backed up K
//All DI hoop coaches have their heads in the sand though
September 10th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
That was the most hits and hurries Vick has had in his career. Browns D was up in his grill the whole game. PHI needs to address pass protection soon or all the QBs will be getting playing time.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
Not to mention Adrian Peterson. I can’t believe he played as much and as well as he did.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
So the Bears are going to wreck shop this year. They might AVERAGE 50 points a game(exaggeration, obvi). They will finally make members of the 85 Bears who are still collecting huge paychecks because they were on that team…whether they contributed to any wins or not..get real jobs.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
Timmy if you think this is a new tactic, you’re the one who isn’t paying attention.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
My boy whole-heartedly agrees. Got him in fantasy, like last year, and he was complaining at the TV that his man needs carries. Give it to Shady!
/gonna lose my 1st game in fantasy to my boy.

September 10th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I don’t like either team but it was pretty cool seeing Cutler nail that long TD bullet and Luck drop a turd.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
This is likely Duckworth’d, but Roy Williams (the NFL “player”) is on Storage Wars Texas now?!?!
/watching now for the first time
September 10th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
It’s not a new tactic. It’s just not going to get called nearly as much. It didn’t yesterday. Along with a ton of blatant shit in the secondary (committed by offenses and defenses), which should be to no one’s surprise.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
Yeah it’s basically just the normal referee incompetence mixed in with nervous refs.
No way that GB punt return gets picked up last year.
Well maybe, because the NFL loves Green Bay and fat white people.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
So the Bears are going to wreck shop this year
Radio here is making a thing for Cutler asking “fans” to be quiet in red zone for Bears at Soldier.
/dumbasses
September 10th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
The amount of contact allowed by the secondaries yesterday would have been shocking in 1995. I loved it.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
The fact that they have to ask the home field fans to be fucking quiet while the Bears are on offense makes the fans look like idiots.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
every fantasy “expert” can get fucked
for recommending sitting AP. Thanks for the 0.9 points Deangelo
September 10th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Also that pass and catch from Cutler to Alshon was a thing of beauty. I expecting an explosion sound like on Madden when a big play happens.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Good to see the Saints get their rightful comeuppance yesterday.
Fuck you very much.

How awesome is the FedEx playoff right now? Even if you hate TBL golf talk, you have to include the FedEx Cup in the discussion of the best championship in American sports this year.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
I am calmly in the “reserving judgement” train for the Browns offense and Weeden. I respect the PHI defense. Say what you will, there were three drops that cost the Browns the game. Weeden obviously played bad but if Little and Marecic catch passes, and Fort doesn’t BLOOOOOWWW it at the end, that’s a win. To somebody’s point, the Browns have 26 players with a year or less experience so if your expectations were high that’s on you. Richardson had ZERO burst and agility yesterday.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
After having Vikings week 1 in pick’em I have learned nothing and will probably pick ‘Skins this week over Rams instead of NE or HOU.
RGIII looked spectacular, wonder how good he’ll be when he gets to Weeden’s age in 2019.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Calls get missed even by the normal refs, no doubt. The replacements should be nervous, this shit is hard. It’s going to be bad for a while, these guys just don’t have the experience at this level.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
I’ll never understand why people are impressed with Serena Williams. She’s a man playing against women. She should win every match she completes in.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
week one nfl betting is impossible. good lord.
rg thrizzle looked like a badass. great start for him.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
With Indy coming up next week, and with how their schedule plays out the rest of the year, the Vikings have a legit chance to go 2-0 then lose 14 in a row. The only other winnable games on the schedule are Arizona at home and at St Louis.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
FedEx Cup in the discussion of the best championship in American sports this year.
as long as it’s won and not choked away in two weeks, i agree.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
Nothing was better than Alabama’s Dee Milner playing like Mel Blount against Michigan, throwing the WR out of bounds with one arm and than trucking Robinson.
September 10th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
In all the games that I watched, I didnt see any illegal contact penalties called. Anybody else notice that??
September 10th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
How awesome is the FedEx playoff right now?
HUGE golf fan. I am liking the tournaments but I have zero interest in the Fex Ex nonsense. I didn’t need them to tell me Tiger was the best in the world previously and don’t need it now to tell me Rory is #1. Money list is better than this dumbshit system.
/was happy to see Ryan Moore eke into top 30 for major status.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I agree with this but you can’t say the system doesn’t work… the leaderboard was friggin LOADED this weekend, and it will be next weekend too. And I’ll be watching as much as I can.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Skins this week over Rams
oh god, be careful. the rams always give the skins problems.
/why do we have to play them every year?
September 10th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I’m pretty much done with fantasy at this point. It doesn’t matter how much you know about football when some guy named Olgetree exists. I’d be better off taking that money and playing blackjack for a while. I stand a better chance to win.
Any Niner fans need sparklers still? I have some left over from yesterday.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I don’t remember one. Also, offenses were running a ton of “pick” like crossing plays. I saw a couple of those called, but a bunch more that weren’t. These guys just aren’t equipped to handle it.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
recommending jennings over mjd yesterday
Jennings suffered knee injury, didn’t play at all in 2nd half. Team had no plans to use MJD as much as they did.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
So pissed I’m gonna be in DC this weekend instead of next. Would love to see the Bengals face the RGIII show, I might have to buy that guys jersey.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
This site was just one example of media coverage. “The media” isnt just local tv and newspaper guy anymore. the Peppers story was everywhere, far from “ignored”.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
One thing I liked about the refs – they called a LOT of penalties on “name” players. People say the NBA is a star league in terms of officiating. Well, yesterday caused me to re-think that about the NFL. Anybody else think this?
September 10th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Scripty – I think it is just a tad contrived as well, but it is nonetheless pretty cool. These guys make great money, sure, but to play for a 10 million dollar payday? Thats pretty awesome. I think in 10-15 years the FedEx Cup will be a very big deal to 95% of the tour players.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
RE: FEC. It’s also nice to see these guys playing every single week. Rory, DJ and Phil definitely looked to be on fumes towards the end of their rounds. Next week could be a battle of attrition, not used to seeing that
September 10th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
It was great, and Atlanta will be in two weeks. Rory, Tiger, Phil, all have a shot win the whole thing. Watching guys yesterday like Stanley and Vijay having to make putts to try and stay in the Top 30, was very interesting.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Similar thought occurred to me yesterday during the Vikings game. Allen timed his rush with the snap, and looked like he could have been a tick early on it. Refs called him for offsides. I don’t know if the regular receivers would do that
September 10th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
It’s like winning an NCCA tournament pool, but harder because of injuries. I can’t think of anything as frustrating and at the same time as popular as fantasy football, except maybe strip clubs.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
looking at that TBL survivor, some of you sweated that DET pick out yesterday…
September 10th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
i think what he is saying is that it wasn’t covered where he wanted it covered and the points that he wanted covered were not covered. If thats what you are looking for then you may have a hard time finding it. however, there is just no truth in saying that the UNC scandal(s) have not been covered ad nauseam in the sports world.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Don’t forget those of us that picked Philly.
Nothing prompts overreaction quite like week 1. I’ll be interested to see what the line on the Niners/Lions is.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Outside of the Hartford newspaper’s takedown of the UNC ruling compared to UConn, I honestly don’t recall seeing quotes like this about UNC.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
You ain’t lying. I was thinking “damn, there is some reason why I am supposed to care about the DET game other than fantasy players”. Then it hit me, and I frantically checked the score of the game and the pick again.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Jennings suffered knee injury, didn’t play at all in 2nd half
oh, i’m aware. i’m just mad that someone would recommend starting his fragile punk ass.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
(From actual journalists, not Detective Lieutenant Commissar Inspector Monk McTibble)
The ESPN string of pieces on the UNC story were quite in depth and interesting, but they didn’t seem to have the preachy “WE GOT EM!” vibe that these are putting out.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
Good news. Looked like he was knocked unconscious.
beginning of the season. no surprise. just wait till conference play starts.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
This. Exactly. All of that. Yahoo!Sports was all over the UNC scandal from the start. and yes they qualify as the media.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
I like the whole chopping down the fields aspect. They could keep that aspect.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
Then you just aren’t looking hard enough or not reading the right pieces. There have been plenty of credible/bigtime publications talking about the scope and breadth of this scandal and how big it could blow up to be, and whether or not the boys in Indy will blow up one of their sacred cows. I am not going to go hunt them down for you (you are a big boy, you can google search), but to say they aren’t out there is to be either uninformed, ignorant to the facts, or both.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
I guess you missed Doyel’s (from CBS) “Blow up the Dean Smith Center and take down all the banners” story.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
At last there would be noise inside the Dean Dome!
I guess I was wrong. I’ll go track some of those down.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
I guess you missed Doyel’s (from CBS) “Blow up the Dean Smith Center and take down all the banners” story.
I “miss” every Greggggg Doyel story.
/but I don’t really miss them you see
September 10th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Jesus Christ.
When will the media not take the “OH MY GOD I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE A BIG PROGRAM IS BENDING THE RULES” angle? Every. Goddamn. Time.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
UNC NCAA Sanctions brought 1,900 hits on a Google News query.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Lets stop with that narrative as well. That place can be really loud when it wants to be. Problem is, thats only for about 30% of home games. Moreover, the Dean Dome was designed to actually have concert level acoustics and a lot of the chairs have sound dampening material. There havent been a lot of concerts there recently, but it was designed as a multipurpose building and they tried to make the acoustics enjoyable to concert goers.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
For the record I was more thinking of coverage of the announcement last week, the only piece I remembered on the NCAA’s hypocrisy and incosistency was the Hartford one. I know the actual scandal was covered, but it seemed once the NCAA said everything was gravy people backed off. Could be wrong on that, but it seems they like to circle when the facts are convenient (UNC, Syracuse, dead cameramen) but once it becomes something they shouldn’t bring up anymore because they’re going against the NCAA it just slows down.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Nah, outside of USC and Stanford, no Pac 10 teams play defense. RichRod’s a perfect fit.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Having to sit in there for a graduation (after they redid the seats) and having been to Cameron, I’d probably more enjoy a game at the Dean Dome as it’s not a painfully uncomfortable sweatbox.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
This thing is far from over. There is still plenty of UNC stuff coming out in the next few months. Butch Davis phone records, the internal investigation, etc etc.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
I saw Janet Jackson at the Dean Dome.
/back in the day
//Rhythm Nation
September 10th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
I saw Tito Jackson at a Big Lots.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
i’m sure both fanbases would love to see a game in the other teams gym. If they say otherwise, they are lying. I was at the Duke game last year in the Dean Dome, and my ears were ringing for about 40-50% of the game. That place was so loud it was scary. Then, scrub-zero hits that shot and the place got real quiet really fucking quick. After the shot went it, it was so quiet you could hear people gasp. Then, one dude yells “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! FUCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!”. Pretty funny, actually.
/sad funny
//ride home for 3 hours in silence funny
September 10th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
I much prefer the uncomfortable sweatboxes in terms of atmosphere and homecourt advantage. As an NC State grad, the worst thing to ever happen to the bball team (other than debilitating sanctions for players selling shoes and tickets), was moving from cramped Reynolds Coliseum to the lush, too-comfortable PNC Arena.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
///Lehigh loss funny
September 10th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
I had never been to any NCSU venues until I was in NC for game four of the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals and saw the Penguins buttfuck the Canes at a seventy percent filled stadium.
That grouping of stadiums in the middle of nowhere with one shitty chain sports bar across the street is just ….. awful.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
////yeah, that funny
/////not as funny as scrub-zero’s post-game, lockerroom comments funny
September 10th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
Is there anyone outside of McTiblle and Hornets fans that want to see Rivers succeed? I mean that’s like, fifteen sixteen people, tops. I don’t know a single Duke fan who likes him.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:33 AM
The first time I went into Cameron it was empty and I couldn’t believe how small it was, like a high school gym. I got a chance to see part of a UNC/Duke game there, I wanted to go just to see it live (and I’m a UNC fan). It was great! Hot, noisy, the place was going crazy. It got really quiet towards the end because UNC won, and a bunch of pissed off people came filing out.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
He is just an insufferable, spoiled brat. If the kid can ball, great for him. However, I don’t see him making it in the league at a high level.
Now, if we are talking favorite Duke players, I can get behind Kyrie. The kid has game, and since he never beat UNC I can like him even more. Just seems like the kinda kid UNC would have loved to have for a year or two.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Yeah that’s how I always describe it to people. You just walk in, there’s a standard HS gym foyer with two Papa Johns stands, then twenty feet past the outside doors are the doors onto the floor. Ridiculously tiny, but very cool.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:38 AM
Jason Capel. If only because he’s currently coaching App.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:42 AM
The truth!
September 10th, 2012 at 10:43 AM
I have some dysfunctional family members who are Dook fans. They cant stand Rivers, glad he is gone.
September 10th, 2012 at 10:50 AM
@Ohheelyeah….go get yourself Brotherhood. Not tomorrow, not later this week, but TODAY. Game’s even better than AC2.
September 10th, 2012 at 11:04 AM
Despite being a fan of Doc Rivers who coaches my favorite team, I’m not high on Austin Rivers. He’s going to get a rude awakening if he brings his selfish college game to the NBA
September 10th, 2012 at 11:48 AM
Everyone is corrupt. Everyone hides things. Everyone cheats to win.
yep…so it’s not a story
September 10th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Would love to see Duke get busted for this whole jewelry thing. About time they get caught.
Why the hell does every car in Europe have a dash cam?
