I’m pretty certain if Strasburg had to decide today, he would stay in Washington. A great team in a big market, with management that puts his health above all else. That’s where I’d want to play.

I can see Strasburg staying. Washington is a pretty big market whose fans support their team and ownership seems willing to spend. Unless they go in the pits or Strasburg has a resounding urge to play somewhere else, I think he stays.

Seriously, he has had some command issues lately. Last night, he threw hard, but had trouble locating his fastball. The Marlins had their way with him.

I would like to see Strasburg stay. They are finally starting to build something that might last. Why leave?

Boras chimed in a few weeks ago when there was chatter that the Nats might not shut down Strasburg after all. He’s never once said they should let him keep pitching.

He did a takedown of Leo Mazzone’s opinion a few years ago by reminding the host of his client, Steve Avery. He supported the Nats decision.

Stark, on paper I would tend to agree. I would put them and the Reds top 3 as equals with the Giants being slightly better. However, as I said before, I just don’t trust inexperience come playoff time. Has Gio started a playoff game? I can’t recall.

FlyingElbow, Detweiler is not going to be taking Strasburg’s postseason starts. The 3-man for the postseason is Gio, Zimmermann, Edwin Jackson. That’s better than almost anybody they’d face even without Strasburg

Pitching wins playoff games. Stras is their most talented pitcher. You take him out, you are throwing a guy out there for a game or two every series unworthy of holding his jock. Unless you really trust in Detweiler. Also it’s a very young team and very little to no playoff experience. Sometimes those teams can be dangerous but more often than not, they fade in the spotlight. This move makes that more likely to happen.

if Boras put up this much stink about Rizzo and the Nats shutting him down while the team is in a playoff push, he might hesitate to advise his client on staying with that organization. As much as Boras pushes for his clients to get the maximum value, he will tell a team to shove it if he feels his client has been wronged in some way

There’s no way in hell that Bor-ass will let his cashcow stay in Washington even if they are a perennial contender.

Please explain this. The Nationals are a friendly organization to Boras, the ownership has money to spend, and the D.C. area is a huge media market. Why would Boras be opposed to Strasburg staying in Washington?
