Noon Football: Auburn Goes to Starkville, UCF at Ohio State, Miami at Kansas State
To Every AP Voter Complaining About Body Bag Games: Stop voting strictly on W-L record.
Auburn at Mississippi State: Counting on Mississippi State can be treacherous. That said, what was supposed to be a strong Auburn front gave up 320 yards on the ground to Clemson. Tackling better would help. Auburn has some playmakers on offense, though Kiehl Frazier completes 40 percent of his passes without cowbells blaring in his ears. Brian VanGorder’s hair remains a massive intimidation factor.
UCF at Ohio State: This is the first ineligibowl of the season, or as AP is referring to it “The Bowl Ban Bowl.” Both teams beat up on MAC opponents last week. Ohio State should be too athletic for UCF, though they started slowly last week and it remains to be seen whether they can cover against a more reputable defense. UCF quarterback Blake Bortles may not get it done on the field today, but he seems to be getting it done off it.
Miami at Kansas State: A young Miami team travels for its second consecutive road game. Miami had a better statistical offense and defense than Kansas State last year, to give you an idea how incongruous last year’s 10 KSU wins were. This should be a battle between Collin Klein’s steady production and Duke Johnson’s playmaking ability. Worth noting: Miami gave up 440 passing yards last week to Boston College (99th in passing offense in 2011).
Penn State at Virginia: This is a train wreck. Rather than shy away, ESPN will be crawling in with a speculum. Not buying Mike Rocco torching an FCS team through the air. Getting out of State College may be the best thing for this Penn State team. PSU’s defense should play better. That said, Penn State’s starting running back is out and the Nittany Lions are starting a former walk on there. Yuck.

Jeff Van Gundy? Really? Thats embarrassing for you aTm.
Penn State gonna roll UVA.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:07 PM
ECU over USC-East
September 8th, 2012 at 12:22 PM
wishful thinking
September 8th, 2012 at 12:23 PM
This PSU drive screams 16 plays, 60+ yards and then miss a FG
September 8th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
oh, is Tony Sparano coaching there now?
September 8th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Is JayPa still running the PSU offense?
/2nd TO of opening drive
September 8th, 2012 at 12:26 PM
It’s going to take players forever to used to the “you have to stop playing once your helmet come off” rule.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:29 PM
For those of you watching on ESPN/ABC, did you see that the Nationals shut down Strasburg???
/not sure
//it’s only been on the screen THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME

BREAKING NEWS
September 8th, 2012 at 12:31 PM
this morning on a Live sportscenter, the bounty suspensions being overturned was given the headline “DEVELOPING STORY”……..idiots
September 8th, 2012 at 12:33 PM
Fucking tight end, hold onto the ball dipshit.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Wow, that kicker blows. UVA escapes, thankfully.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:35 PM
That’s what I was expecting on the first drive
/Ficken sucks ass
September 8th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
Kansas State is laying pipe to the Canes right now..14-0 near the end of the first quarter.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:38 PM
I’m trying to enjoy all these early games to numb myself from the reality of what USC is going to do to Syracuse at 3:30
September 8th, 2012 at 12:40 PM
I’m all over USC on that one. That (-26.5) and Nevada (pick) are my gambling specials of the day
September 8th, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Shit like that pisses me off. PSU puts 2 guys back, and neither runs up to fair catch the ball. Instead it hits the ground and UVa gets another 7 or 8 yards. At least the one moron caught the bounce to save some more yards.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:44 PM
USC will score at will. Syracuse will give their defense a good test with their uptempo offense. Ryan Nassib threw a million times last week for over 400 yards.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Northwestern is a sieve against the pass – USC will give the Syracuse offense a little bit better test. I think it will be something like 63-21
September 8th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Well, that draw play was a terribly predictable playcall.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:46 PM
The only thing worse than PSU’s FG kicker is their punter. That thing went maybe 25 yards in the air.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:49 PM
sadly, syracuse was more competitive on defense last year. They lost so many pieces to graduation.
September 8th, 2012 at 12:55 PM
Bench Rocco, bring on Phillip Sims.
/half-serious
September 8th, 2012 at 1:00 PM
I feel the same way about Day. I know he’s in because he’s a better receiver out of the backfield, but Dukes is a way better RB option for PSU
September 8th, 2012 at 1:01 PM
Are you kidding me with that sideline delay of game? WTF.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Have no idea what that was about. My only guess is that a coach got in the way of the linesman as he officiating the play.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:06 PM
Uh oh, McGloin may have hurt his arm.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
I guess I get why you say screw it and go for it despite the fact your backup is in for his first play but still, that’s a little risky. He could’ve made a dumb throw or something.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
Jesus Christ, fucking catch the ball. That’s just terrible.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:09 PM
I don’t think you’re familiar with McGloin’s history for comparison
September 8th, 2012 at 1:09 PM
Wow – what a fucking athletic play by Hill
September 8th, 2012 at 1:09 PM
What a joke. We are sucking. Mike London is going to absolutely rip into this team at halftime.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:10 PM
O’Brien needs to start rolling the QB out of the pocket a little more. Cant’ sit there in 5 wides and let UVa blitz you to death
September 8th, 2012 at 1:13 PM
God, Roeth, your kicker is awful. Should be 13-0 right now.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:13 PM
Jesus fucking christ. PSU should be up at least 13-0, more like 17-0. When they lose this game 21-10 they regret this first half.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:17 PM
Geoff – I’m really excited to see Jones play QB (assuming he comes in). I really think he’s the best athlete we have on offense. You may see a bunch of “zone read” type plays going forward.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
Hmm, I bet UVA could have trouble with that.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:22 PM
So wait – the object is to kick it between those yellow things?
/Ficken
September 8th, 2012 at 1:24 PM
Oh no, McGloin is out!
/said no one
//damn that kicker sucks
September 8th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
Surprised its Bench, read he was pushing Jones for the #2, but not that he passed him.
Put Bolden in.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
Braxton is fucking boss.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:29 PM
Or they can run the zone read with Bench
/didn’t know he had that type of game
September 8th, 2012 at 1:32 PM
Ha! QB draw picks up 3rd and 10.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:33 PM
Good thing Penn State can’t make a FG or I’d be more concerned about this drive.
September 8th, 2012 at 1:34 PM
Here’s comes the freshman complete a short pass in bounds on 3rd down and the clock runs out
/Sunseri
September 8th, 2012 at 1:34 PM
Called it
September 8th, 2012 at 1:37 PM
More passing is needed dammit. Boren can go fuck himself. Wanna see a lot of Dunn and Rod Smith in the 2nd half. Also more Stoney, Brown and Smith.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:00 PM
Stephen Morris 3rd and 11 has all day in the pocket and over throws a double covered wr by 15 yards?
Curious down by 18 strategy.
/also fuck lady of the cesspool
//didn’t KSU have a super fast wr named lockette before?
September 8th, 2012 at 2:08 PM
Wahoo-mother-fucking-wah. TD UVA.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:09 PM
I hope OSU just continues this beatdown. Run it up.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:12 PM
If this is PSU’s strategy the rest of today this game is over.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:12 PM
How is McGloin too hurt to play 1st and 2nd down but OK for 3rd?
September 8th, 2012 at 2:15 PM
Much better – quicker drops. Tired of watching the QB dodge blitzers.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:16 PM
The draw plays are not working. Stop.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:17 PM
A few times now, UVA defenders have gone for the blocked pass, leaving their feet, rather than just hitting the QB. C’mon.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
HAHAHAH FICKEN MISSED AGAIN. JESUS.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!!!!
September 8th, 2012 at 2:20 PM
Cripple fight.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:25 PM
If Sam Ficken sees the field the rest of this year (other than MAYBE to kick off) I will be highly disappointed.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Ficken is the verb “to fuck” in German. Too funny.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:28 PM
Thank you UVa.
Now in opponents territory for the 6th time. Still only have 7 points for the first 5 trips.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
SI.com couldnt locate a symbol for some Texas A&M Commerce school, so they put a generic NCAA logo for them in their college scoreboard.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
Nice play, great catch. Really good pump-fake by McGloin, not a great pass but a TD nonetheless. Eff.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
I thought that was overthrown. Great effort by Robinson.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
That’s about right.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Man, what a terrible day for that kid. I just feel bad for him now.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Can’t even get the extra point right. PSU is def going to win it with a 50 yard FG.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
DA U IS BACK BABY!
/throws up the U
//fumbles
September 8th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Some of that is on O’Brien. He shouldn’t have even been out there for the XP. We have a backup WR who kicked a couple years ago when Fera was hurt.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Miami is terrible, uconn is terrible, south carolina just dongslapping east carolina, Mississippi St bulldogs defense is nasty…cant blame the PSU kicker on that PAT. The line sucks
September 8th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
South Cackalacky’s offense is better with this Thompson kid. Pass first QB, unlike Shaw who wants to run it all the time.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
Waiting for Edsall/Terps to blow this big lead against Temple
September 8th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
Alright – c’mon!!! Let’s get up 2 scores!
September 8th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
Jesus Christ. What the hell was that?
September 8th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
Why did UVA switch QBs?
September 8th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Don’t know really – there was a really bad QB/center exchange and we haven’t seen him since
September 8th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Not sure. If UVA loses this game, London is going to get all kinds of shit for this move. He’ll probably get it regardless.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Let’s see what BOB does on 4th down.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
4th and 7? Who in the world would go for it? Too risky!
/dick jauron’d
//tony sparano’d
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Oh Jesus Christ. This better be a fake.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
WOAH THEY’RE KICKING
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
HOLY SHIT!!!!
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Well, good for Ficken.
September 8th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Dats some balls
September 8th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
Syracuse aint great but man, i cannot wait for them to ahit on maryland next year in the ACC
September 8th, 2012 at 3:00 PM
And Rocco is back. Honestly, Simms could end up being good but as the announcer pointed out, he was still at ‘Bama during the spring. Just hasn’t had enough time in the UVA system yet.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
Al Golden’s U getting bitch slapped around. KSU always did like to schedule cupcakes under Snyder
September 8th, 2012 at 3:03 PM
Can’t believe people are still cheering for that entire university/alumni/community of pederasts.
/media literacy’d
September 8th, 2012 at 3:04 PM
Remember, roeth, that ksu only beat the U last year in Miami with a last second FG. That QB, Klein, is really efficient. He doesnt need to pass a lot with his running ability.
maryland close to choking game away. Temple now down by 2

Soused – canadians watch college football?
/breaking stereotypes one drink at a time
September 8th, 2012 at 3:06 PM
Ill tell you what, these games are weak..
/earlier today
September 8th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
I know – it was just a joke referencing how much of a joke today’s game was and Snyder’s history of non-conference opponents. Next year will be more to his liking after these Ron Prince schedules expire. Bill’s lined up the following murderer’s row: Umass, ULLafayette and NDSU.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
Al Golden’s U getting bitch slapped around. KSU always did like to schedule cupcakes under Snyder
+1
September 8th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
How do you let Maryland get that huge first down? Pathetic
September 8th, 2012 at 3:14 PM
I think OSU was -14.5. Braxton had a late fumble and now Central Florida might get a backdoor cover.
/did not bet on this game
September 8th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
I made the bad mistake of betting on my team (PSU +10). It looks like it will pay off, but that will be small consolation if we lose 17-16
September 8th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
Let me get this straight – he throws into double coverage, both of you interfere with him, and you still let him catch it?
September 8th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
HOLY CRAP!
September 8th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
WHAT A CATCH!
September 8th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
OSU cover the 14.5, winning by 15 due to a blocked PAT.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
PSU defense giving it up on 3 and 16?
/Paterno spinning in his hell grave
September 8th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
Another sub par performance by OSU. Too many blown coverage assignments and not enough pressure on the QB. Fickell is garbage. Too much running by Braxton. He did look much better throwing the ball with the exception of 2 or 3 passes. Would like to see more touches for Dunn and more passes to the TE’s. The WR do look a lot better than expected.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
When did Ted Roof morph into Graham Spanier?
September 8th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
WAHOO
September 8th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
This is some bad red zone offense
September 8th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
I have to say this. Nowhere does the issue of kids ages 0-2 harm a man more than clouding your thoughts in regards to football wagering. This is first year in ages I feel I can think rationally about a game in like 4 years.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
MCGEE! WAHOO!
Hey JMac, you’re missing a good game. Nothing weak about this.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
BOOOOOOM.
There is an Areop Enap!
Bowl ban on a team going 3-9 is pretty redundant.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
All those missed FGs/XPs coming back to haunt us. I’m calling we lose on a missed FG attempt at the buzzer.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
MCGEEEEEEEEEEE
Wahoo wah, bitches. Singing the Good Old Song in my apartment. And I could’ve gone to this game today. Oh well.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:26 PM
Don’t worry Penn State fans…this is where Tom Brady shines.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:27 PM

September 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
Let’s hear it for bad defense!!!!
September 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
That was very generous of the linesman to stop the clock
September 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
Im in a glass case of emotion right now.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Geez Vlad what were you expecting out of the gate? Meyer is a QB dominated offense and they are riding it out until young guys get their shit together.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
WHAT!!!! why the hell are we centering the ball. We need the fucking yards no the alignment.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Brady would not have taken a dive 4.5 yards behind the line though…
September 8th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
Wiiiiiiiiiiiide left. Coach and QB fucked over that kicker right there
September 8th, 2012 at 3:37 PM
and to think that some people thought it would MORE torture to cancel the PSU football season.
September 8th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
HA HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA FUCK YOU CHILD RAPISTS.
