The Bountygate Suspensions Have Been Overturned
BREAKING: A 3-member appeals panel has overturned the player suspensions in the Saints bounty case, says a source. Details coming.
— Jim Trotter (@SI_JimTrotter) September 7, 2012
Woah. So Roger Goodell’s power may not be absolute. The New Orleans Saints won an appeal, likely wiping out the suspensions of Jonathan Vima (entire season), Will Smith (4 games), Scott Fujita (now with Cleveland, 3 games) and Anthony Hargrove (now of the Packers 8 games). With the Saints’ fist game of the season days away, you have to wonder what this means for Sean Payton, GM Mickey Loomis and Saints Interim coach Joe Vitt. Goodell will likely have to go back and issue new suspensions dealing with the “intent to injure.”

He was cut by the Packers.
September 7th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
FYI, he is a free agent right now.
/Fuck Godell and his over reaching powers.
//Braces for James Harrison fine for not playing this weekend

Jesus, they’re playing their fist game in week 1? That’s ballsy
September 7th, 2012 at 3:55 PM
Fist game? As in fisting an oriface?
September 7th, 2012 at 3:58 PM
No that’s the just the Saint’s rookie cheerleaders hazing ritual.
September 7th, 2012 at 3:59 PM

The whiskey is either whiskeying too much, or not enough.
September 7th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
this is very disrespectful to God-dell.
September 7th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
I would think this would mean nothing as coaches do not operate under a collective bargaining agreement.
From the SI release:
Fidel Goodell will have someone going through the tape with a fine tooth comb to make this happen, I’m sure.
September 7th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
if he had common sense he’d walk away from pushing this. if he does continue with the intent to injure and loses again, it’s more damaging and he loses some power
September 7th, 2012 at 4:13 PM
He doesn’t even have to do that. It’s not like he needs to support anything he does with video proof.

These NFL players need a union or something.
September 7th, 2012 at 4:17 PM
These are the two exact points that the players have been making from the beginning. While the players readily admitted that there was a pay for performance pool, they categorically denied that it involved any pay to injure components. And, that Goodell has steadfastly refused to produce any evidence of pay to injure. To the contrary, Goodell has intentionally blurred the distinction between performance pool and injury pool.
The more interesting question is what happens with Vilma’s defamation suit? If I was Goodell, I would walk away rather than be subject to discovery and depositions in federal court. I think that would quickly reveal how weak the NFL’s case was from the start.
Also, you better believe Payton will have a lawsuit teed up and ready to go Monday morning.

Darth Goodell just got struck down…

^^^That. That won’t be good for him.

^^^Because that foot will fall once the info above comes about. Fun times.

HIT THE FUCKING MUSIC.
Was that supposed to be linked to something? May I recommend the following.

Nada quit his saints fandom
September 7th, 2012 at 4:30 PM
that would be harder for Payton to win, you’d imagine this portion, being a coach and the authority figure, allowing these rule breaking offenses to occur would ultimately still call for suspension, regardless of what it is technically considered.

Fuck Sean Payton

Suspensions for four players connected to the New Orleans Saints’ bounty scandal have been overturned by a three-man arbitration panel, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Typical and classic response from the ESPN home page.

Anyways…HIT THE FUCKING MUSIC.

I’m not sure suing “The Shield” is a good career move. Even if he wins, who is going to cross the league and hire him after that?
September 7th, 2012 at 5:19 PM
Fuck Goodell. Fuck Emmert. Gutless bitches pandering to the morally righteous media.
September 7th, 2012 at 8:00 PM
i said from the start that would be so hard to prove that players werre trying to injure, but the coaches were the criminals here, for offering the incentives. that could be proved
September 7th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
The wanking furiously in Goodell’s face is probably the best avatar for this website’s readership that I’ve seen, to date.
