Maurice Jones-Drew to Report to Jaguars Today
Maurice Jones-Drew blinked once the game checks and regular season were set to begin. According to Adam Schefter, Jones-Drew will report to the Jaguars today (Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country was the first to mention rumors of Jones-Drew return). Jones-Drew was looking for a new extension with two years remaining on his deal, knowing that at age 29 (in two years) he will be not likely to get one. His only chance, though, was to extend it into the season Emmitt-style, so one has to wonder why he did this if he wasn’t willing to push it that far.
I guess he really didn’t want to participate in the preseason. We’ll see if the Jaguars pursue the fines that is their option, based on him missing camp while under contract.

So much for that leverage.

That holdout cost MJD more than $1M. Shad Khad made him tap out in the middle clean with no run-ins. Keep in mind: they could have a rematch next summer. But the new NFL CBA has broken every holdout (e.g. Frank Gore, DeSean Jackson) not named Chris Johnson.

Lol. Hope you bought yourself a nice sausage to celebrate your prescience!
MJD, what an idiot.

I don’t like to use the word epic but this is an epic fail. The guy had to walk back to the Jaguars with his head between his knees without anything to show for his disastrous holdout. Now he’s out of shape, missing training camp and the preseason. How will he ever be able to have the production of last year. His stock by the end of year could have decreased substantially. He should fire his agents. The advice they gave him was bogus.
