Vin Scully Bobblehead Night Featured a Rainbow Because it Was Vin Scully Bobblehead Night
It was Vin Scully bobblehead night at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday evening and, to the surprise of no one, everything went marvelously.
When Scully came out to throw the ceremonial first pitch, he fittingly did so in original fashion, opting to have each of his grandchildren hold the ball before casually tossing it to Don Mattingly at home plate. Classy approach. The man is a silky smooth operator. Scully’s presence is so magical, in fact, that he inspired the sky to create a rainbow during the festivities.
Only Vin Scully. This kind of thing would never happen to Michael Kay or Hawk Harrelson.

A Vin Scully post should never feature those names. Even proposed as antitheses.

Pats cut Hoyer. Looks like they won’t be getting that 2nd round pick for him.
/Team Mallet
August 31st, 2012 at 2:06 PM
I think we realized that when no one wanted him at the 2nd round tender. But no market at all surprises me. How can he not be better than Kolb/Flynn.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:07 PM
But yes, I was delusional re: Hoyer value and compensation, and I’m sure it kills Dirt to not be here to make fun of me.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:13 PM
Man I just saw the clip of the kid running the way way after the fumble. Kinda hard to get mad at him when half his team is blocking, and the other team is trying to tackle him.

August 31st, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Just got it. Fucking terrible. Almost wrote them to ask for my money back. The pumpkin and apple are about the worst I’ve ever had. Return it unopened if you can. Worst $14 I’ve ever spent.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:40 PM
They do an okay belgian wit… I’ve never had any other by them that was even tolerable. And I’m not really a beer snob, per se.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Yup. I had the Caramel Apple last night, and it was fucking disgusting. No matter what else is in there, it won’t make up for that.

Caramel Apple
wtf made you think this would be good?
August 31st, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Truth hurts. I do like Sams Octoberfest (one of the better beers you can pretty consistently get on tap around here).
Blackstone (local) apparently made a pumpkin, and their beer is awesome. If you are in TN and haven’t tried to get some of it, you are missing out. They also brew/bottle for Shafly now, so the pumpkin might be labelled for them, I’m trying to figure that out. I bet it’s awesome, either way.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Blackstone
Where can I find?
August 31st, 2012 at 2:47 PM
i like beer for grown ups
August 31st, 2012 at 2:47 PM
I’ve never had a Chimay, but I’d like to at some point. I did however get a bottle of Duvel from Trader Joe’s, which was nice, for a beer which costs more than every bottle of wine in the place.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:47 PM

August 31st, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Just thought I’d try it, but I have to say that I’m dissapointed in my purchase after hearing you assholes blast the Blue moon beer in it’s proverbial ass.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Not on tap many places, but if you get into town, the restaurant is on West End.
They have four that are regularly bottled, and apparently going to have some seasonals (like the Pumpkin in October) bottled. Publix, Kroger, and Harris Teeter all have the bottles. The Nut Brown is awesome, and the Porter is excellent if you like Porters. The APA is good, if you like hoppy beers (I’m so-so on them). They are better in the restaurant though, with more selections.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:51 PM
Sorry Mullet. I saw the Pumpkin and Caramel Apple, and though “hey it’s worth a try”. My wife saw it and asked what the hell I was thinking.
August 31st, 2012 at 2:51 PM
I guess I’ll return it. Can you fucking return beer?
August 31st, 2012 at 2:52 PM
I don’t think any of the three kids you banged are authorities on ‘fucking.’
August 31st, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Was gonna try out Bella Napoli this weekend over by Belmont. Been?
August 31st, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Feel like returning beer is a waste. First the gas money to get there and back, then the shame of being that guy. Plus, you could keep it and “ice brahs” at a get-together. Good times all around
/unconfirmed by me
August 31st, 2012 at 2:55 PM

had to. i scrambled
August 31st, 2012 at 2:55 PM

I enjoy running around Belmont’s campus for obvious reasons, but have never been there. Some of the other places there (PM, Chago’s) are fairly popular.
I just looked it up, it’s not really by Belmont though, it’s closer to Vandy in Edgehill Village. Either way, I have no idea how it is.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:08 PM
I consider Belmont/Vandy side by side since I used to live so far out. If its within 15 min its the same area to me
August 31st, 2012 at 3:14 PM
So you’d go on the record that you are willing to bang kids?
if we negotiate ‘kids,’ yes
August 31st, 2012 at 3:22 PM
I’m with walking, Blue Moon is shit. Those who enjoy can turn in their man card on the way out.
