College Football Returns: South Carolina at Vanderbilt, Washington State at BYU
“Returning starters” are now “starters.” Football is back. Tonight’s lineup is no feast, but after eight months of famine, it will do.
South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt: The Gamecocks were No. 6 in our preseason Top 25, ostensibly because they have three key ingredients for SEC success: a dominant defensive line, a bruising tailback in Marcus Lattimore (if his knee is ready to go) and a solid, if unspectacular quarterback in Connor Shaw. Interested to see how and how often SC deploys Jadeveon Clowney on defense. Perhaps the infamous bucket visor will make an appearance?
James Franklin and Herb Hand have spearheaded a positive PR blitz for Vanderbilt, though this remains a program rebuilding. The Commodores won six games last year, which was a feat. Their target this year is a second-consecutive bowl appearance. This team still should be very defense heavy. They finished 14th in yards allowed per play in 2011, though some of that was conference dependent as they finished 7th in the SEC. The offense will have to be recruited. Jordan Rodgers has a famous last name, but completed just 50 percent of his passes last year and threw more interceptions than touchdowns. For impetus, Vanderbilt will rely on senior running back Zac Stacy, the SEC’s third leading rusher in 2011.
Washington State at BYU: Mike Leach will appear on ESPN’s Thursday Night football. Craig James will not. The eccentric Pirate ship captain should have the pieces at skill positions to fire the canons immediately and get the Cougars back to bowl play. BYU will hope to finally live up to their preseason plaudits. Pivotal will be quarterback Riley Nelson who is undersized, white and beat out a touted recruit. If BYU makes a run, brace for an onslaught of national media articles about his grit, leadership and determination.
Many of us feel like this on the inside…

Can’t say I blame him, though. That looked like a fine piece of ass.

So Connor Shaw is just a slow Denard Robinson?
August 30th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
So Connor Shaw is just a slow Denard Robinson?
Yes. And he looks like Ed Norton
August 30th, 2012 at 8:11 PM
Should’ve thought of that. Instead I’m stuck at home listening to David Pollack call the game and that will haunt me well in to tomorrow.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:11 PM

Need to go look at that Oregon cheerleader post to balance it out
August 30th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
please…denard would’ve at least given that WR down the sideline a chance instead of throwing short like a bitch.

And just like Denard, Shaw is hurt.
Not all that impressed by Lattimore so far. One ok run.

Sorry, off topic but just had to get it out there.

FUCK!!!
The Brewers blow a 9-3 lead in the 6th to the horrible Cubs. Yeah, I know theyre playing meaningless baseball but still pisses me off.
Story of the year. K-Rod has been absolutely atrocious this year, as well as Axford.

Any TV honks on here? I have an old dinosaur I’m looking to replace. Assuming I want LCD 1080p 120hz???? 40 – 50″ range. Is wireless a necessity now? I have DSL for internet since I live in the boondocks. Any recommendations/advice would be appreciated. Under $700 if possible.

Hey WFS, I actually read today in December Sony’s coming out with a TV with 4 times the resolution of even the best TV’s out there right now.

They got some crazy shit on there too, a whole section of what some of these people do for their own home theater setups, some are insanely crazy.
Oh, to dream….
August 30th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
Didnt read the article but anything new like that is bound to cost mucho dollars.
Also, unless you are buying a huge ass TV, resolution is overrated and the average person cannot tell the difference anyways.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Actually, plasmas have come a long way. Deep black levels, no motion blur, and crisp highs. Panasonic makes a great line. Finding a 50″ under 700 might be tricky.
If you have Netflix or Hulu, a networked TV is pretty sweet. Although if you already have a networked BD player that can handle those services I wouldn’t spend the extra dough.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Actually, I just saw the part where you said under $700. They haven’t released the price yet, but something tells me that motherfucker is going to have some serious sticker shock.
Off topic, Pentagon found that Navy Seal that wrote the book about the Bin Laden raid in breach of material release agreements.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:34 PM
resolution is overrated and the average person cannot tell the difference anyways.
I’m sure if you quadrupled the resolution you’d notice a difference.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:34 PM
I mean check out some of these guys home theaters. DAMN.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Story of the year. K-Rod has been absolutely atrocious this year, as well as Axford.
Also, without his steroids and without the lineup protection from Fielder that lying fraud Braun has been exposed for the cheating piece of shit he is. He can’t technicality his way out of this year’s crappy performance
August 30th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
That’s my thing. We still have a fucking boat anchor for our main TV so anything is going to be a huge upgrade. I just want something nice and useable that won’t be obsolete in a few years.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Yes and no. The new Sony is an OLED, which blows away anything out there right now. Trust me, you can tell the difference. It makes the best LED TV on the market right now look like a Nintendo game. Bookoo bucks, though.
The real problem is the source. No one is pushing 1080p other than BD discs. OLED screens look incredible (I saw a bunch at CES) but they’re really going to melt retinas when 4k sources start popping up.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Problem with plasmas always has been, and still is, glare to a certain extent during the daytime or with lights on at certain angles.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
Good. I respect the shit out of those SEALs and the guy should be able to cash in if he wants to, but he needed the Pentagon to vet the material first.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
Yeah I understand guys but he did say in the $700 range, and I can tell you anything new will be major money when it first comes out.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
Mark Mays needs to do College Football Nation a favor this season: sneak up on Grandpa Lou while Holtz is taking one of his many daily naps, and smother him with a pillow. Or roll him over on his back and let him drown in his own lispy drool.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
It’s gotten a lot better. If you’re putting one in a room with lots of windows, yes, I’d still opt for a LED or LCD. Basement or room with few windows? Plasma owns.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:37 PM
August 30th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
Agree with this.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
I didn’t expect anything less….and that’s fine by me. No need to fan the flames and sensationalize shit any more than it needs to be.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:39 PM
Do you play video games on your TV, Fontes? The only drawback to plasma is that sometimes images burn into the screen and then you’re left with the EA sports logo or some shit “ghosting”
August 30th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
I run everything online, looking to buy a google chrome box and projector. You should never need anything new entertainment wise if you have chrome browser.
Fuck May and Holtz.
Worried about the loss of Connor Shaw? Who the fuck are they watching? Clowney needs some conditioning.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
I see Mark Schwarz has resurfaced…Oddly enough covering the Penn State story ESPN was so late on they had Schwarz drag the Fine story out of the closet…
August 30th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
Good. I respect the shit out of those SEALs and the guy should be able to cash in if he wants to, but he needed the Pentagon to vet the material first.
Absolutely. One thing that surprised me is how quick he came out with it. Usually they let some years pass before they write about shit like that. Maybe he wanted to do it before everyone else did.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
sucks, but he shouldve known what was coming. bad enough essentially getting kicked out of the seal community…shit got real.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
Wait. The guy put together that sweet home theater to watch VHS?! Because that definitely looks like tapes he’s got lined up under the screen.
You’re spending all that money, spring for a Blu-Ray or even a regular DVD player, fer crissakes.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:42 PM
Also, with video games, make sure the TV has game mode or you may have some lag. I have read about many people on AVS buying a great TV and finding out it has slight lag when connected to a gaming system.
Its especially noticeable if you play fast paced games that require precise button presses.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:42 PM
I was telling Scripty this the other day, but if anyone is interested in that raid and the process leading up to it, check out Manhunt by Peter Bergen. Really, really detailed, investigative read.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
I didnt notice that, but damn, some of the pictures in that thread are insane.
There was one guy on there, I couldnt find it, who was rich as he made a whole room under his garage that went into his house, and that was his huge theater room. His garage has a Ferrari and Porsche in it so obviously digging up the ground for a whole theater was no biggie to him. He had pics from the initial groundbreaking all the way to completion and it was just insane.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Because that definitely looks like tapes he’s got lined up under the screen.
I might have a few of those laying around here somewhere.

August 30th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
check out Manhunt by Peter Bergen. Really, really detailed, investigative read.
Is that the one somewhat recently where they had to re-release it with Pentagon approved information? I remember hearing something about some shit like that a while back.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
The company I work for provides some of the automation and lighting products that make a lot of those cray home theaters run. I’ve been in more than a few, and those high-end setups sound better than commercial grade movie theaters. Absolutely insane.

Actually thanks to Flaccid’s link, a $25,000 TV.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
I’m not sure, but given the author’s insane amount of high-level on-the-record sources, including Obama, I imagine the info was at the very least confirmed by Washington. No SEALs are named and a few CIA analysts are referred to using pseudonyms. Otherwise, its all on the record.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
The fact people will be spending that much just blows my mind.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:50 PM

I’ll have to look into that one you’re talking about. My brother was telling me about one he wanted to read that the Pentagon caught wind of after it was too late, and they wanted it re-released with contents trimmed to their liking. Don’t know if they ever did, it had already been released so it wouldn’t make much sense.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:52 PM

I used to do PPR but I really hate them. If a receiver gets a whole point for catching the football (so a screen for 0 yards still earns a point), then deduct for a drop at least. You don’t give RBs a point for a carry.
August 30th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Forte or CJ2K if you have the next pick
August 30th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
The fact people will be spending that much just blows my mind.
Same here, man. If I paid even close to half of that price for a TV, it better come with free Netflix for life and sucky-sucky boom-boom-long time.

August 30th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
I just finished a draft. I had the 9th pick in a 12 team draft and nabbed AP and CJ in the first 2 rounds. Didn’t realize they both had the same bye week till it was to late. Thinking about moving AP if I can improve my WR position. Got Jennings and Dez then a bunch of crap (Holmes, Moore and Baldwin).
August 30th, 2012 at 8:58 PM

All that buildup for Lattimore, and he’s not even the best RB on the field tonight.
As for Clowney … wasn’t someone posting on TBL yesterday about a dark-horse Heisman candidacy? I think he got thrown from that horse tonight.

No she isn’t related. You can tell by looks, too. SIL looks pretty good. Coworkers? ….Not so much.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:44 PM
I cannot, for the life of me, get Gravatar to work here. Pissed off.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:44 PM
As a Michigan fan, OSU is going to be phenominal next year if they can stay out of jail.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Angelos is a late-term abortion of an owner, but there’s no excuse for people not to be at that stadium. Amazing park, winning club in the thick of a pennant race, and beautiful weather. The fans hate Angelos because the team has been bad forever and its his fault. Well, the team isn’t bad. Come to the park.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:48 PM
You don’t by any chance look like this?
August 30th, 2012 at 9:50 PM
Skarlina’s gonna escape with the win here.
Screw it, I’m off to watch the Niners.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Nada if he did look like that I’d only want to be friends with him more
August 30th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
vandy blew it. rats.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
GDit, Oakland will not lose.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
You don’t by any chance look like this?
No. You know those questions someone, mainly females, ask that they ask with the expectation you’re going to tell them what they want to hear? Well I tell the truth. And some people can’t handle the truth.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
There are some things that can fuck it up, here’s a walk through.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
They hold to an FG they have a shot
August 30th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
Just turned on Vandy/SC and watched the last 3 carries by Lattimore and he looks like he could be an NFL back. I don’t watch much NCAA football, is he the real deal?
August 30th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
You know it. Gonna be a shame when Michigan goes 8-4. OSU will still win more games than Michigan this year.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
I actually clicked that link expecting assistance, you metric fucker.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:57 PM
So there are days I come here and we’re all laughing and having as good a time as you can have in a place like this. There have also been days I’ve made people cry, and I’m not proud of that, but it is who I am. Blunt, honest, to the point. Some people find this to be an undesirable trait. I embrace it.
August 30th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
It seems TBLAD has added quite a few folk tonight. Something special going on? Is this the type of crowd that can be expected if actual football is on?
August 30th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
Something special going on?
FOOTBALL!!!
August 30th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
WOW. incomplete. huge. i just cursed loudly. Vandy’s alive!
August 30th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
A girl with a bud light platinum in her hand is a sure thing. That’s the main thing I learned this summer.
As for tv’s, I have never failed with just getting a samsung in whatever size you need. 400 for a 40″ lcd and probably 500 for 50″ even at a walmart, where you can take it back if you don’t like it out of the box.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Aren’t you at work?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
Rollo?!? What’s up bro, how’s the new house?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
Aren’t you at work?
Don’t remind me. I just mentioned why everyone else is here. You know why I’m here.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Fair enough Meth. You get the holiday weekend off at least?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
He look sluggish from conditioning (like all of scar) or still healing from an injury. If healthy he’s NFL ready, north/south runner breakaway speed, great hands and one of the best pass blocking running backs i’ve seen in college.
Well.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Absolutely not. So I had to switch my normal Monday and Tuesday “weekend” for a Tuesday and Wednesday. Time and a half at least.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Did I see somewhere that Vandy’s QB is Aaron Rodger’s little bro, or is he at a different school?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
I’m working on a white paper that I couldnt get done today because I literally had meetings from 8-5. Every single hour, including a lunch commitment. Obscene.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Better than a kick in the nuts. This will be the first time I’ve had Labor day off in about 5 years, so I’m pumped.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
It seems TBLAD has added quite a few folk tonight. Something special going on? Is this the type of crowd that can be expected if actual football is on?
Fantasy draft coming up in an hour for me (west coast). But generally if football is on and its a good game hard to get me out of the apartment.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
I actually could’ve gotten out of it, but thing is if you work one holiday you get preference on the next one. And I want to take an extended Thanksgiving to go see family. I already have a timeframe figured out, and after all the weekends and holidays and night shifts I’ve given this fucking place, if they don’t grant me my 10 day request I’m submitting my 2 weeks notice 2 weeks before I leave. Other job lined up or not.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:07 PM
Why’s it gotta be a black and white thing?
/don’t know what a white paper is
//took the day off

So I can guess who you bet on tonight

August 30th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Unreal. That’s blatant PI. Replacement refs?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
SEC refs know to give the game to the highly ranked teams. Standard procedure.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
I don’t know what a white paper is either. I assume some kind of a report on that dinosaur loose leaf sheet type written with things of the pen and ink variety.
I take that part back about the job or no job lined up. But I will demand that fucking time off.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
meth, my job has always said you have to work 2 out of 3-day after thanksgiving, christmas eve, new years eve. In car sales, i’ve had to work memorial day, labor day, and july 4th for the last 4 years.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
INTERFERENCE! CUNTS!
Almost as corrupt as the BYU honour code enforcement.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Always loved Samsung Tvs.
I currently have a 2008, 50 inch DLP Samsung, 1080p and its picture rivals anything that I see today. I got it for $900 and have had one issue, the color wheel went out, but it was all fixed for free ans Samsung tech support has been great for me as well.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Maybe pass interference.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Essentially just a report. On my fifth Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin with the game on in the background, though, so this is taking longer than it should.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
New house is great! Probably enjoy it more after staying in an 8×10 room all summer fearing for my well being and ending up with 3 acres to work with.

/takes me 10 minutes to write and post using a hotspot since threw is no viable ‘net out in the woods
Hey Rollo I thought about you earlier. I saw an article about that Marine whose wife filed for divorce while he was in Afghanistan and like 3 days later she turned up dead. Come to find out, she got invited out to dinner by this other guy in the Marines and when she got to his place realized he had a sex dungeon set up. She refused rough sex, and he decided it was time to choke a bitch.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Unless you’re paid an obsenely large salary, there’s no feasible reason that you should take your work home with you. My opinion only.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Sorry Rollo I should’ve mentioned the thing that reminded me of you was the sex dungeon, not the choking and killing of a woman. I saw the word sex dungeon and pictured you being lead into the barn saying, “What IS this?!?!”
August 30th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
what was the spread on this game?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
I resent your indoctrination.
*See Brandon Davies and Jimmer
Sharia law cunts.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
I get paid a very good salary. Not a Romney voter or anything, but they pay me enough to not bitch about doing work at home on days when I have meetings. It’s either now or the weekend. Might as well do it now.
Overall, I agree with you though, and I avoid the practice whenever possible.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:22 PM
Hearing Cougars vs Cougars gave me a different mental image than a football game.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:22 PM
The Doctrine and Covenants?
I don’t claim Jimmer or that other guy you mentioned. Only Mormon I actually claim is Steve Young.

August 30th, 2012 at 10:24 PM
all good, meth. Its both odd and funny to be associated with any story from here on out related to sexual relations like that, but only because I made out out unscathed.
Smallie, im either using my phone or the sprint hotspot. That satellit e internet shit is like 80 bucks per month and you have a daily usage limit of like 350mb. That’s insane.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
Hearing Cougars vs Cougars gave me a different mental image than a football game.
Cougars vs. gamecocks
August 30th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
I think 80/month is insane for internet, but I have no idea what a usage limit of 350mb even means.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
Cardinals preseason game starts on NFLN in 40 minutes. That’s why everyone is still here right?
Speechless.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
I hate left handed QBs unless they’re mormon and play for BYU. This BYU QB is ok in my books.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:28 PM

August 30th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Nah just pointed out BYU hypocrisy those cunts. Seriously would never angrily begrudge an individual their own conception of being, as an institution though BYU can go die a fascist’s death.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Fuck. That explains why I can’t access TBL from the mormon church community computer.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
We’re here because we’re on the Smallie Cardinals QB suicide watch, remember?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
i see we’re back on the same level. I was raised mormon, but don’t practice that or any religion. As an institution, BYU can suck a bag of dicks though.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
I don’t remember, but no need for suicide watch. I’m the happiest dude you’ll ever meet.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:35 PM

lots of teachers bring home grading nightly

August 30th, 2012 at 10:37 PM
oh heel, seems like we didn;t finish the cfb rotisserie draft
August 30th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
My wife is currently grading papers at 930pm. I teach too but film/video only requires me to do some editing and rendering at this hour. But who needs pentions?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
I’m wrapping up the preseason with my Super Bowl picks:
Niners-Texans
August 30th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
Underwear – looks like we stalled. i was hoping to finish tonight, but i can’t complain i guess. I am going to just pick names anyway, so i guess i can do that tomorrow
Rollo – I was banned for a few weeks, but I am glad to see you are alive.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
/rollo, back me up here
My teachers said they took tests and stuff home to grade them. But my English teacher also told me all those beer bottles that came rolling off of her backseat when I opened the door didn’t belong to her. What to believe?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
Highland park 12 is a great scotch for 40 bucks
August 30th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Rivers just unloaded the most awkward left-handed desperation pass ever, and then Harbaugh came out on the field and started jawing at him. I know it’s just preseason, but WTF?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
I was banned for a few weeks
What’d you get banned for? And what did they do, send you an email saying you could come back if you wanted?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
I know that’s the case, and I firmly believe teachers should be paid more than they are. very undedrrated profession IMO
August 30th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
very under the influence profession IMO
/My English teacher
August 30th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
As someone who has a mom, a sister and a brother who are teachers, I can testify to this.
They’re often grading papers until bedtime because they have no time to do it at school.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
I’m more of a bourbon guy, but enjoy Macallan 10 for $40, and prefer it to a lot of 12s I’ve found for $45ish. comparable?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
monster i truly believe english teachers have the hardest job. i was one for a little bit. science, social studies, math…they al deal in facts: answers are either right or wrong
english teachers have to teach kids to write all manner of things from sentences to essays, and that means they have to read everythig the kids write and there may be grading for effort or interpretation or creativity, etc. not right/wrong but shadings and judgment calls
i imagine it is easier with printers rather than longhand or cursive work these days, but you still have to read their work
August 30th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
I think TBL gave me (first) and a few others (few days to a few weeks) later. I mouthed off a little too much one day, and that was all it took. I think Butters may have asked to be reinstated (not sure it was him; couldve been someone else) and Jason hooked us all up. All’s well that ends well i guess.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
That was funny meth.
I think that’s just poor time management and task prioritization.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
Vez, I always look over at my wife and say “are you getting paid right now? Then why are you working?” When she is doing work at this hour. Its probably what makes the difference between au good teacher and a poor one.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
monster i truly believe english teachers have the hardest job.
I never said anything about anything you just mentioned. What does that have to do with her sending me out to her car to get something for her and beer bottles falling out when I opened the door?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
If you’re a salaried employee, technically she is getting paid becaise she’s doing work.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:47 PM
Smallie – picked up a resupply of a lot of spirits the other day. New to the list is Titos Vodka, and so far its as good/if not better than the big boys.
Also grabbed some Balvenie Doublewood. I’m usually a Talisker man, but will take a number of other options as well.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Unless, you are implying that the reason she had so many empties in her backseat is because her job is so tough. “Well, since I gotta grade these papers..might as well slug a beer or 15!”
August 30th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Mac 10 is good, but 12 is better for two more bucks
August 30th, 2012 at 10:49 PM
Tito’s homemade? as good or better than goose and ketel one for half the price. unreal how smooth that vodka is and how cheap it is comparitively.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Heel yeah, titos is fantastic. Balvenie 12 is my favorite all around scotch. Just love it
August 30th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
I think that’s just poor time management and task prioritization.
yes. new model: ignore the kids in your class/show movies so you can stay on top of that shit
August 30th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
No, it’s because they’re shortstaffed and overworked at school, and they simply don’t have time.
My sister has 37 kids in her 5th-grade English class this year. Oh, and they decided to do away with special ed and put the special needs kids in the regular classrooms.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
tough to find upgrade pricing like that. I have an order in for a number of bottles of Pappy Van Winkle, and the difference between the 12 year lot B and the 15 year was like 4 dollars. DUH.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
It’s more like 8 in my local store, and 10 is always in stick whereas 12 is not. agreed that it’s better though.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
Smallie, I would rather close up shop as soon as possible at 3pm, go home,.then grade at night instead of teaching for 8 hours and then spending two more hours grading and planning.
There are piss poor teachers. They get all the pub when they f’ up way more than the good ones get credit written they work hard our do well.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
Double wood that is
August 30th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
But my English teacher also told me all those beer bottles that came rolling off of her backseat when I opened the door didn’t belong to her.
Wait, story time?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
tito’s is handmade, not sure about homemade, but the difference is probably small
August 30th, 2012 at 10:52 PM

August 30th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
Pritchards tennesee is a solid bourbon as well
August 30th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
Definitely jealous. PA won’t let you preorder. They don’t get a very big alottment either, so I’m lucky if I get a bottle of 12 year lot B twice a year.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
My sister has 37 kids in her 5th-grade English class this year.
That’s how the school I was at for 7th and 8th grade was. One had low 40′s, but most were mid 35. Fucking nuts. Kids sitting on chairs with no desks for the first few days of school till they figure out how the hell to fit more desks in there.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
Most teachers are salaried, and with the overwhelming hours they put in, they probably make $12-15 an hour or less.
And then they pay out of their own pockets for supplies, food, clothes, etc., for their students whose parents don’t provide those essentials for their own kids.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:55 PM
Been tryin to get pappy for a year, can’t find it
August 30th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Smallie – I am on order assuming there is stock to go around. Our state has to get their allotment first…no guarantee at all
Also, if you ever stumble upon Rock Hill Farms, do NOT hesitate and buy it. One of the best 50$ bottle of bourbons out there; every bit as good as blantons and lower priced Pappy.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Pritchards tennesee is a solid bourbon as well
i have a couple i don;t see mentioned much here, rawson’s creek and old pogue
solid bourbons not sure of price bc wife buys them for me for holidays and bdays. i’m easy
August 30th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Nada, Rollo, I don’t mean to undermine teachers and the job they do. I think cutting school budgets and teacher jobs and overloading classrooms is a terrible thing to do. Seriously, I’m just busting balls here. If I had the ability to leave at 3 and finish my work after a round of golf I would do it every day.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:57 PM
Wait, story time?
You weren’t here for that resolute? My teacher sent me out to her car to grab something for her, and when I opened the back seat a shit ton of beer bottles spilled out in the parking lot. I hurried up and threw them back in and got the fuck out of there. I brought it up to her after class and she said they were from her husband. In all seriousness though I believed her because she didn’t seem shocked or surprised by it. But smallie also said she could’ve just been hungover and forgot they were there which was a good point. Who knows?
August 30th, 2012 at 10:58 PM
MP – their allotments are usually awarded/announced around the first two weeks of September and then in March. If you are in a state that gets it, you need to call your stores ASAP and often. A lot gets “spoken for” by people in the know, but if you see it on a shelf never hesitate to buy it. You may not need it at the moment, but its not like its going to spoil or sit around THAT long.
August 30th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
more reasons why I think teachers should be paid more. No bullshit on this, I really do think that.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:00 PM

mp3 stroked out
/half smile
August 30th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
I’ve only been able to get the 12 year lot B but it is fantastic. I ask everywhere i go, and no restaurant/bar ever has it in stock. This past spring in nashville, one bar we called said they had it, but when we got there they were all out. it was on the menu because they get it twice a year.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:04 PM
like eagle rare as well. give Four Roses and Buffalo Trace a try at those price points (25-30).
Also, if you are a Gin fan, i strongly encourage you to buy some Jack Rudy Tonic. Incredible; thats all I can say. 1.75 oz of Hendricks Gin, .5 oz of Jack Rudy Tonic, stir, add large ice cubes, and top with a quality soda water. Devine.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:05 PM
also fuck warren sapp. Small dick mother fucker made millions of dollars and now is broke, and is on NFLN bashing my team.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:05 PM
Except most teachers aren’t leaving work at 3 to play golf. They go in at 7, work through lunch, get off at 4 or 5, then go home to resume working after dinner for another 2-3 hours sometimes.
Oh, and they often use their weekends to catch up on work they couldn’t get to during the week, or to go in to school to do maintenance on their rooms that the school can’t afford to pay for.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
Gin is my angry drink. I fought every time I drink it. Last time I got drunk on G&Ts I put out a cig on my brother’s cheek with no provocation. Haven’t had a drop of gin since and that was 9 years ago.

being a teacher was maybe the low point of my life. now, i was goingthrough some personal instability as well, but i was miserable. i quit by november, unheard of. but i truly think teaching is a calling, at least for the good ones. they enjoy it and it shows
August 30th, 2012 at 11:09 PM
When it comes to whiskey/bourbon, this raht here is the shit, I shit you not.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
I know Nada. IMO teacher’s are severely under paid and under appreciated. I just like to make waves round here.

no way. at least a few days ago

If Smith goes down and Kaepernick steps in, I don’t think SF will suffer. In fact, they might be better.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
When it comes to whiskey/bourbon, this raht here is the shit, I shit you not.
Really!? All the shit they block at work but I can go to a whiskey website? The stars have aligned.

I still hate him for ruining Boise’s best and probably only opportunity at a national championship game berth.
/yes the kicker missed those 2 kicks

Gin is my angry drink. I fought every time I drink it. Last time I got drunk on G&Ts I put out a cig on my brother’s cheek with no provocation. Haven’t had a drop of gin since and that was 9 years ago.
funny…the first (and only) time i drank gin was just after a fight. grabbed it off a table in the aftermath, all hot blooded. my wife loves her gin. shit’s nasty
then i caight some of that movie where steve carrel is cuckolded by julianne moore and taught how to pick up chicks by gosling. the scene where the one girl tells off her bf…she grabs a drink and slams it and says….what is this, gin?
reminded me of my fight

Could be. But I don’t think. Regardless it was TBLAD when the discussion happened.
I know you’re going to be surprised by this, but never seen it.
Actually, I am surprised. And not surprised.

“The Geto Boys have earned notoriety for their lyrics which cover controversial topics such as misogyny, gore, psychotic experiences, and necrophilia.”

My brother told me that shortly after I outed the cig on his cheek I tried to pick a fight with 3 or 4 roided out big mofos. I don’t recall any of it.

And he told you that since you put a cigarette out on his cheek that you were on your own right?

ok, one more and i’m done with this silliness. i was making fun because you acted surprised that RD wasn;t familiar with the story. tblad isn;t exactly a hive of activity, and RD is not a regular

Once you’ve done it you learn not to celebrate it.
Also fuck BYU, returned from an LDS mission my ass fuck these fucks.

Oh, but the sweet, sweet taste of this baby. I’ll pass up Bulleit for that Fort Worth blend.

Sometimes people forget that teachers go into work and have to perform in front of 30 people at 730am and repeat x3 before getting a break.
I don’t get offended by smallie busting bals, tho. I see enough teacher friends that notch on facebook about having to go back to work after 2.5 months off to make me angry.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:19 PM
I’m busy watching 3rd string Cardinals play the practice squad Broncos. thanks for the update.

My brother was a brawler and is pretty yoked up in his own right, and he said he was worried I was going to get us killed, so he pulled me away. Best part is I’ve never been a fighter, but G&Ts brought out my angry side.
August 30th, 2012 at 11:23 PM

do not regret the quitting, but as a family man now, having to provide, would gladly do it again if i had to

August 30th, 2012 at 11:28 PM
I hear ya, vez. There is at least a 10:1 ratio of female to male in our district at elem level. We have to start so early because the same busses drop off the hs’ers and pick up youngins.
Early start means we are done by 2pm with class.

Craig James was watching the WSU-BYU game and threw out his arm while trying to pat himself on the back.
The Pirate looks like he might have a case of scurvy.

Smallie, what didn’t you like about the movie? We are focusing on character development.prob the best party of the novel and film imo.

Just realized I haven’t seen Moss all night.
His preseason stats: 3 catches, 24 yards.

I’m a book hound and I’ve never found a movie that lived up to the book. The movie wasn’t bad, but I have a very high opinion of the book so it never stood a chance in my mind. Big issue is that the inner thought process of the characters in the book played such a large role and you can’t translate that to the movie.
