Houston Head Coach Tony Levine Plays a Mean Saxophone
All, College Football, Music, Video August 29th. 2012, 12:19pm
Here is Houston football coach Tony Levine jamming on the saxophone at Houston’s band practice. These skills may help him replace some of the pizzazz deficit left by Kevin Sumlin’s departure to Texas A&M. Hoping some genius gets him and Dabo Swinney together at a coaching convention. Put this in OU thread, too. Who wants to do a college football rotisserie league? Draft teams, not players, but compete in categories like individual QB, RB, points scored/allowed, win pct, etc

Billy Hicks is not impressed.

Lisk – I’d be interested. And when I suck I still finish out fantasy seasons unlike some people.
August 29th, 2012 at 12:31 PM
I’m interested as well even though I’ll have no idea what I’m doing.
August 29th, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Seconded. But I love a good rotisserie. MMmmmmmmmmmm, rotisssssserieeeeeee.

Third’d, as long as I can get some “horsey-ducky”.
“Horsey-ducky” = remedial-level instruction, as if I’m a newbie (which I am).

I’m in. Also, are you doing a NFL fantasy league for posters on this site by chance?

Categories–
1) Overall Winning Percentage
2) Quality Wins (weighted based on Top 25 rankings that week)
3) Points Scored Per Game
4) Points Allowed Per Game
5) Team Rushing Yards Per Game
6) Team Passing Yards Per Game
7) Individual QB Fantasy Points
8) Individual RB Fantasy Points
9) Individual WR/TE Fantasy Points
10) Field Goals Made
11) Defensive Turnovers Forced
Draft Schools, not players. Should be between 8 and 10 schools for everyone.

Lisk,
is this a league where you have to manage your squad or you just pick the teams and let everything sit for the year?
August 29th, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Interesting categories though I’m guessing you’d have to know quite a bit about the lesser D1 conferences in order to do well.
August 29th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
I want to pick Syracuse so I can be guaranteed last place!

Great turnout by TBL people for the Survival League and the NFL Pickem league on Yahoo. Should be fun

Hmmm…I’m guessing an Alabama type team wouldn’t be optimal based on the preponderance of offensive categories. OU, Oregon, USC type teams would be the top choices, no?

Just pick schools, let it ride. Probably wouldn’t even figure standings until conference season well underway. No point.
When I played college fantasy football, it was fun, but issue was week to week byes and wildly uneven matchups. This gets rid of that, plus adds in defensive good teams without offensive stars as valuable.
Straight Rotisserie– rank in each category added to find winner. Probably would be in doubt heading to bowls, especially the “quality win” category.
With 68 BCS teams + Notre Dame and BYU could either do 12 people or 14,

Probably true, but wouldn’t slip too far. Quality wins, overall win percentage, points allowed, turnovers forced and field goals made would all favor. Bama was 20th in points scored per game also, so it’s not like they would have dragged you down there. Also would have won the points allowed category most likely.

Do you have a tentative draft date/time? I might be interested. Sounds like fun.
