Brooks Reed of the Texans Gave Saints Receiver Joseph Morgan a DDT
Texans linebacker Brooks Reed did whatever it took Saturday night to bring down Saints receiver Joseph Morgan. In this instance, a DDT was required to complete the mission. It’s not often DDTs are given out on a nightly basis these days, not since the torrid demise of Jake “The Snake” Roberts, so soak it in while you can.
Reed’s decision to go with a DDT also allows me to turn the conversation to the night one of Jake’s snakes went off script and bit the arm of Macho Man Randy Savage.

I know it is a few days away, but Louisiana appears to be fucked.

You talking about that storm, KC?
August 26th, 2012 at 4:19 PM
Ol’ IT blocking that link, that’s why I ask. I’m going to assume that is what you meant, and am ready to take flak/criticism for what I’m about to say. Fuck them, fuck people in Florida, and fuck people that live in Tornado Alley and all other places where natural disasters are not only common occurrences, but are the expected norm.
I don’t even want to hear it when shit gets destroyed and lives are torn apart. FUCKING MOVE!!! “Oh, every house within 100 miles got destroyed for the 3rd time in 3 years and my neighbors kids all died, but you know what? We’re going to rebuild in the exact same spot like we did the last 28 times this SAME FUCKING THING happened.”
August 26th, 2012 at 4:21 PM
I know that’s fucked up for me to say, but it boggles my mind that people don’t put two and two together and realize that it’s only a matter of time. It’s going to happen again and again.
August 26th, 2012 at 4:25 PM
excuse me?
August 26th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
Strong opinion on that Monster. I’m going to respectfully disagree. That’s what insurance is for after all. The people I don’t feel bad for are the ones who live there and neglect to properly insure their property. That’s just plain stupid in my book.
August 26th, 2012 at 4:32 PM
The people I don’t feel bad for are the ones who live there and neglect to properly insure their property.
I don’t see how that’s possible. Here in Delaware we rarely flood, but if you live within 2 miles of the water, they won’t even give you a mortgage without you having insurance. So someone that lives in Tornado Alley or on the Gulf Coast, etc. etc. can live there without insurance? Makes absolutely no fucking sense.
August 26th, 2012 at 4:35 PM
That’s what insurance is for after all.
Doesn’t cover loved ones, though. I wouldn’t care if insurance did cover everything. I couldn’t deal with the hassle of constantly having to rebuild. What I’m saying about all that is if you want to live there, absolutely fine. But if you’re going to bitch and moan about it every time it happens, move. Nobody is forcing you to live in a place where mother nature consistently shoves it down your throat.

That came out a little harsh on my end. Didn’t really mean it like that. I just don’t understand it. The same shit keeps happening but yet they keep going back. It reminds me of the woman whose man keeps beating her but she keeps crawling back.

I’m not. Meth is a bojack ninny.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:24 PM
Im 29 and Galveston/Houston has only had 3 major storms. Hurricane Alicia, Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricane Ike. 1983, 2001 and 2008. That’s not enough to justify a move up north to tornado alley and where blizzards are the norm.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:26 PM
Plus there hasn’t been a major storm in the United States since Hurricane Ike 2008
August 26th, 2012 at 6:29 PM
Meth, perhaps you could point out a place on the map where some type of natural disaster doesn’t occur.
I’ll save you some time, there isn’t one.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:30 PM
That’s where I was getting at, MS.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:39 PM
We got record flooding a couple years ago, that didn’t get nearly enough national press, but other than the occasional tornado (which has rarely caused widespread damage) or hurricane remnants, Nashville is pretty free of natural disasters.
Unless you count Phil Valentine.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:42 PM
For anyone not familiar with that particular nutjob

I’ve had my wife’s car for the past week, so I’ve had to flip through the radio to find my stations. I happened to land on him suggesting that we should end the food stamp program because “it’s not like in two weeks you’ll have a million people die of starvation, they’ll find a way to still be alive”
August 26th, 2012 at 6:43 PM
tucson. unless you count 110 degrees in the summer and arizona wildcats football.

The point is that they can and do occur. So Meth’s assertion that people who live in Florida or other coastal locations are stupid and deserve what happens to them is incredibly wrong. Do they occur more in some places than others? Sure, but after a point the frequency point of the argument becomes less meaningful.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:44 PM
I’ll save you some time, there isn’t one.
To say never get anything? You’re right about that. But there are places, like where I’m at, where it is extremely fucking rare to have significant natural disasters. In my 18 years here, I remember only 2 bad winters, we rarely have a hurricane remain full strength by the time it reaches us, every once in a blue moon if the stars align right we’ll get a small twister.

Arizona has wildfires and the occasional haboob.

I live in a coastal location.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:46 PM
Oh, for sure. Rates vary, but nowhere is completely safe. I wasn’t trying to do anything except remark how I’m relatively happy with the weather in TN.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:47 PM
I live in a coastal location.
Which would seem to underscore that much more how wrong your initial rant was.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:48 PM
The real natural disaster would be if we the people who lived there decide to de-inhabit Florida, and we are overrun by old Jews in Cadillacs driving in the left lane at 10 mph under the speed limit.
All the sudden a hurricane looks like a treat.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:48 PM

Indeed. My cousin just moved to Nashville from Indiana. She seems to be enjoying it so far.

She is single. But has two kids.
/I see the black meme is still going strong
August 26th, 2012 at 6:58 PM
I don’t feel comfortable making the logical response to that in a public place.
August 26th, 2012 at 6:58 PM
I was wondering if you would. I put it up on the proverbial tee.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:01 PM
Which would seem to underscore that much more how wrong your initial rant was.
I live in a coastal area, have never evacuated, never boarded up my windows, never had to rebuild anything, never had my roof ripped off from a twister. Can’t say I’m completely wrong.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:03 PM
I don’t think they deserve to lose loved ones/have their shit destroyed. It comes with the territory.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:06 PM
Yes I can say you’re completely wrong. By your earlier logic, that you haven’t had destructive event yet doesn’t matter because you still could. Natural disasters occur everywhere. Some of them are relatively mundane (flooding, wildfires) and some are spectacular events which garner major media coverage (hurricanes, earthquakes). But a disaster is still a disaster. And indicting people for living in Florida in the broad brush manner that you did is just ridiculous.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:08 PM
Fuck, if poor people didn’t want to live in the ghetto, they should make more money.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:15 PM
Yes I can say you’re completely wrong.
It’s the regular occurrences I refer to. Yes, it can happen here, 18 years it hasn’t and never will happen in the annual frequency that severe weather events happen in other areas. I’m not dictating where people should live. And I said, I never meant, or meant for it to be interpreted as people deserved to die or lose everything. In areas like that, you should know better. And those who do, obviously like it enough to take the risk. So when shit happens, shut up and deal with it.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:24 PM
This just got me blocked by some guy I’d never heard of on twitter. Between that and TBL’s tweet randomly calling me out, I feel like I must be moving up in the world, or just pissing everyone off without really trying.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:26 PM
TBL’s tweet randomly calling me out
They really do that to you?
August 26th, 2012 at 7:31 PM
He called me out for bitching about the Red Sox trade post. It wasn’t fully accurate, since I complained there would be a “Dodgers claim Adrian” post, which means nothing since there wasn’t going to be a trade. Once there was trade rumors, I reversed and ate my crow, as appropriate.
Funny thing was that it wasn’t till a day later, it randomly popped on my phone while I was golfing… and shot 73
August 26th, 2012 at 7:31 PM
Meth, I’m not addressing the misapprehension that others may have had about the potential for bodily harm. I’m talking more about your blanket statement that people who live where disasters have occurred and will occur again deserve to experience the destruction that they do. And 18 years is not a terribly large sample from the weather record, which in most cases extends back to the 1870s. And to chide people for being upset that their property is destroyed is misguided to say the least. I’ve got nothing further to say on this subject, but everything you’ve said here reeks of a misguided, uninformed attitude based on personal opinion and bias rather than any sort of sound logic. What you’re saying makes perfect sense if someone builds a house on the edge of a volcano that is actively shooting lava in the air. But that’s not the same thing as any other natural disaster that has been brought up here.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:34 PM
Why yes that story was mostly to brag about my 73.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:37 PM
I would take Nick Watney over that retread Furyk for the Ryder Cup team.
August 26th, 2012 at 7:41 PM
Not all disaster areas are equal. Some areas like NOLA had some deteriorated infrastructure that helped elevate the level of disaster. Some areas of FL are overpopulated (or just lack the highways to effectively evacuate the current population in case of a significant weather event). And there are some areas that are used to things (like parts of OH/PA/NY with blizzards. When the big earthquake hits one day and wipes out a bunch of people in SoCal, it’ll be because it’s of catastrophic proportions, not because they largely haven’t done some situational testing and watched their infrastructure.
/my suburb is completing a flood basin to manage 150% of a 100-year storm
