Tommie Kelly on Kevin Kolb: “He is skittish, he is scared back there”
Kevin Kolb, the QB whom the Cardinals traded for, and then signed to a $63 million deal, looks more and more like a major bust. In a preseason game against the Raiders Friday night, Kolb got the start but was sacked three times, including a safety. He had happy feet in the pocket, prompting Tommie Kelly, a defensive tackle on the Raiders, to say afterward:
“He is skittish. He is scared back there,” Kelly said. “Anytime anybody gets close to him he starts looking at the refs. As a defensive lineman you love a quarterback like that. He ain’t even trying to look at the routes no more. He is paying attention to us and you ain’t going to get nothing done like that.”
There’s a very real chance Kolb losing the starting job to someone named John Skelton. He’s a 24-year-old from Fordham who was serviceable in starting seven games last season.

You should include a link to the post on Kolb v. Vick after the week one GB and Philly game. A lot of commenters were backing Kolb.

We all held Andy Reids opinion of football players higher back then.

You get one Matt Schaub to stick and everyone thinks that the other team’s backup is the next Brett Favre.

Dang. This sets the Cardinals back a bit, yet again. Will Kolb ever get his mojo back? I’d guess no.

Andy Reid doesn’t get enough credit for that trade. The Eagles played that one beautifully.

You’re going to have to point me to a time when Kolb had any mojo.
Change Kolb to Flynn and set the publish date to 2014. Saved you some time in two years. You’re welcome.

We need to put Smallie under a suicide watch.

If only he wasn’t such an absentee father figure.

classic TBL there.
Skelton is like professional VY. Horrible numbers, yet, somehow his team just wins.

Kolb’s saving grace back then was he was the alternate first to Donovan McNabb and then Michael Vick. He was being judged more on the hate of those 2 than on his own merits. I remember those TBL discussions when people were talking about Kolb after 2 games and 2 losses like he was Aaron Rodgers.

I actually agree with this. Kolb is the very definition of a system quarterback. There’s a reason that Case Keenum went undraftrd and is vying for the third string slot on the Texans.

I hated the Kolb signing last year and I hate it even more now. Levi Brown was probably lost for the season last night too. Shaping up to be a long season.

Fuck. John Skelton is also not very good. He might be more inaccurate than Derek Anderception is/was.

Scott Mitchell is and always will be the poster child for the evils of coveting thy competitor’s backup.

who wouldn’t be skittish playing behind that offensive line?

Someone not named Kolb.

Matt Cassell and Rob Johnson would like to be remembered, as well.

Matt Cassell is 10x better than Kolb

First and foremost – fuck off.
Secondly, Flynn cost a fraction of Kolb and we lost no picks. Lazy ass commenting.
/Poor job, poor effort.

I am on the record that I think Kolb will be an average quarterback (not A.J. Feeley) and that is worth giving up a pick for.
Whoo. I thought I was gonna be the one with this on my record. I didn’t seem sold at all on Kolb in that thread
