Preseason Football: Ryan Tannehill to Start Against Panthers
Ryan Tannehill will get his first start of the preseason tonight against Carolina. A few months ago, when there were reports that he would be third string behind David Garrard and Matt Moore, I talked about how it would not be a good sign if he could not beat out those two in camp. David Garrard is injured again, and Tannehill has been outperforming Moore so far. Now he gets a chance against first team competition for almost a half.
Other games tonight:
Tennessee at Tampa Bay (7:30): Jake Locker has taken the lead in the quarterback battle in Tennessee, and could make a big statement tonight. The Bucs have lots of new pieces on offense, and this will be a more extended look at the Vincent Jackson and Doug Martin additions.
Detroit at Baltimore (8:00): Two playoff teams so that don’t have anything to prove, but the Lions will be working on their defensive secondary in the wake of offseason turmoil including the release of projected starter Aaron Berry. For Baltimore, let’s see if Torrey Smith continues to emerge as the top target (besides Ray Rice) in the offense.
Buffalo at Minnesota (8:00): No chance we’ll see Adrian Peterson tonight, though it could happen next week. How does Cordy Glenn hold up against Jared Allen or Brian Robison if given the opportunity? That’s an early test to see if the rookie is ready.
Jacksonville at New Orleans (8:00): Missouri quarterbacks in the house! Blaine Gabbert showed more flashes in the first preseason game than at almost any point last year. Drew Brees should get his shirt a little dirtier this week (proverbially speaking, no dirt on the field in the Superdome)
Oakland at Arizona (10:00): Oakland will try to top their point total in the opener. Can Carson Palmer get it going? Denarius Moore is still out at wide receiver, so Jacoby Ford needs to step up. Arizona looked pretty bad in the opener against Kansas City, getting gouged in the run against the Chiefs first teamers. They need a better defensive effort tonight.

Kind of odds can I get on Reggie Bush winning the rushing title? 20-1? Have a gambling windfall coming up in November (Blue Jays under, Obama elected) looking for season long bets already have Lady of the Lake under and Redskins over.

In the past 20-years, the lowest rushing title total was a 1,474 yards.
Saw that on Google when looking for the odds. Do you see him rushing for 1500 yards? I gotta think there are better prop bets out there (Dwayne Bowe rupturing his vagina by week Four at 2 -1.)

Bookmakers in other countries will take bets on elections in this country. After his inauguration British bookies were already setting odds on Obama’s reelection.

Yep. I won $250 off smug Canadians in 2008 who refused to believe Yankees could vote for a black man. Good times. Have $275 on this election from smug Canadians who do not think a president can be reelected with a recession economy. Better times.
That Bowe vagina rupturing bet is almost is alluring. Do i still collect if it’s merely a torn labia?
Looking for longshot flyers worth a $10 bet. I have a rule whereby all gambling winnings are either drank or gambled.

Made millions and got to a Super Bowl. Will be a rich walking embarrassment for the rest of his life, but at least he will be rich. Few will remember the Super Bowl more than the 17 interception he threw in that one playoff game.
In the end, Delhomme is richer than any of us will ever be.
Not arguing with you, Brawny. Its just my water and electric bill are fucking insane this summer and could use the extra cash.

One of my favorite memories during that magical Super Bowl run for the Cardinals. My large HD TV had gone haywire about 1 hour prior to the game, and me, being drunk and alone had to pull my 20 inch HDTV out of the bedroom and watch on that. My wife got home around halftime and probably second guessed her marriage to me.
August 17th, 2012 at 7:50 PM
Well surmised. Delhomme was a Perfectly Capable Quarterback for a number of years before the wheels abruptly fell off out of nowhere.
I’ll be shocked if Tannehill gets past Chad Henne status.

I didn’t mean it like it was a terrible career. Tannehill just strikes me as a guy who will have pockets of success surrounded bad lots of terrible decisions. Delhomme might be too high.

I know this is way late, but was just scrolling through some posts from earlier today. Saw in the roundup that teacher that’s getting in trouble for having sex with 4 students at the same time. Fucking feel bad for that lady’s husband. I thought my woman was heartless…
August 17th, 2012 at 9:04 PM
He claimed he wanted to stay in the marriage, but he can’t trust her anymore. Don’t see it lasting much longer.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:05 PM
Monster- don’t feel too bad. Reports are they were participated in group sex previously.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:11 PM
He claimed he wanted to stay in the marriage, but he can’t trust her anymore.
So there went the marriage
Reports are they were participated in group sex previously.
I guess if they were each down for it before then so be it. I know that shit wouldn’t fly with me. I don’t live life with sharing is caring as a motto, at least in the “my woman” department.

There’s a big difference between group sex where the spouses are both there and the lady as a teacher having group sex with studenta. Yes, they were of legal age but it’s still illegal since they were students in the high school. It’s something that is told to every teacher throughout schools across the country. She deserves whatever punishment is thrown her way.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:19 PM
Wfaa.com is one of the Dallas outlets with the story. Husband was saying it was immoral but not illegal. Even though they are 18- still illegal in this situation. I just dont have sympathy for the guy. Yes- it sucks but with group sex and being swingers- his words, it was bound to happen.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:20 PM
She deserves whatever punishment is thrown her way.
Understandably. And agreed. I was just simply bringing up the morality of it, and my lack of understanding for other human beings’ lack of said morality. People never fail to amaze me.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:21 PM
Sounds like this man and woman aren’t very bright
August 17th, 2012 at 9:23 PM
Meth – in the roundup, someone called it “a victimless crime”. It’s an ignorant, idiotic comment and it infuriated me. Some people have no moral compass and are clueless to the psychological ramifications in these types of situations
August 17th, 2012 at 9:25 PM
in the roundup, someone called it “a victimless crime”
They were 18 right? If so then really the only wrongdoing is violation of teacher-student relationship.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:25 PM
Yankees are such a fraud team. Rely so much on the home run. They’ll get stomped in the playoffs again
August 17th, 2012 at 9:26 PM
But 99% of the time I’d agree with you.
August 17th, 2012 at 9:27 PM

August 17th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
Monster, it’s an abuse of power and position. She obviously has some mental issues to work out. The boys are of legal age but who knows their mental development and progress. People mature and develop at varying rates. This could possibly affect their maturing process and fuck up their view on how human relationships are supposed to work. It’s a sad situation
August 17th, 2012 at 9:29 PM

Hey Mullet, buddy of mine in the air force has family down in Alabama. He was telling me you guys are allowed to shoot deer out of your truck down there as long as you shut the truck off. That’s 2 things.
1. Cool as fuck
2. Redneck as shit

Mullet can’t quit. The meme within a meme within a meme is enjoyable. Even though I have been advocating to cease the original meme. Soemtimes, the internet is just too creative for mere mortals.
Also, I finishes Season 1 of The Wire last night. Something like 10 years after it originally aired. I’ll admit, it took me a full seven episodes to even care about the show. The Season 1 ending was ok. I wouldn’t bother continuing other than its reputation from here on out. Look forward to watching the rest of the series. Now that I have Baltimore accents deciphered.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
in Mississippi, you can hunt over corn.
Meaning bait? You can do that on private land here, not state, though. Thing I don’t get about that is this: You’re allowed to set up a stand overlooking a 600 acre cornfield, but you can’t dump out a 50 lb. bag of corn 150 yards from your stand?? Makes no fucking sense to me.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
The in-laws live on 40 acres about 1/2 mile off the road. He has a deer blind outside. She has a shooting bench attached to a window in one of their spare bedrooms.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
internet is just too creative for meme mortals.
Better.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
She has a shooting bench attached to a window in one of their spare bedrooms.
Nice. I always tell my grandpa we should just set up lawn chairs on his porch instead of trekking up all those fucking mountains. Go out there and don’t see a thing but look out in his yard and it looks like a major thoroughfare for deer.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
May be wrong, but I believe part of the problem with bait piles is the fact that deer can spread diseases like TB among themselves by using them.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:13 PM
Father-in-law plants about two acres of alfalfa right outside the window.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:13 PM
I’ve backed down on the use of that meme considerably, but sometimes I have a weak moment and I just let it loose.
You cant hunt over anything in alabama. The game warden told me that if you’re hunting over anything that’s in the field unnaturally that benifits the deer, thats considered baiting. Peanut butter, corn, salt block, whatever.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:14 PM
is the fact that deer can spread diseases like TB among themselves by using them.
Could be one reason but they usually don’t travel alone anyways so if it’s going to spread it’s going to spread one way or the other. I actually understand them not allowing it on state land here, because most of the state land areas are assigned through a lottery or first come first served. If they allow you to bait then someone might get an advantage here over someone there. I was more talking about states where you can’t bait at all. Like I said you can plop your ass down in a middle of a corn/soybean field and hunt but if you grab a handful of soybeans, put it in the field and then set up a stand looking over that handful of food you threw down all of a sudden you’re breaking the law.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
put it in the field
put it in the middle of a trail**
August 17th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Father-in-law plants about two acres of alfalfa
I’ve heard that’s one of the best food plots to throw down.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
Missed the earlier discussion, but there’s something that feels wrong to me about micro-dissecting a guy’s private college transcripts that were accidentally released. I mean it’s not on par with a naked peephole video, but it’s not like stupidly texting a picture of your junk to some chick either.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:20 PM
Mullet, we’ve got so many salt water marshes around here that salt blocks are not going to do you any good in the majority of the state. Anywhere else you’d think you were throwing fucking crack down for them things the way they go after them.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:24 PM
we can only hope. Sad that they are going to make the playoffs, but it is awesome that the Saaaaaaawwwwwx are a total shit show this year.

I saw footage of them bumbling their words and backtracking on shit trying to make a call and they weren’t even getting the fucking team names right.

My main concern with replacement refs is potential negative ramifications on my gambling by a blown call.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
potential negative ramifications on my gambling by a blown call.
I could see that. It’s not like I have to worry about them ruining my team’s season. Dolphins are going to suck no matter who’s calling the games.
August 17th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
agreed. lot of bad attitudes on that squad. Shut. It. Down.

August 17th, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Oregon huh? Never been there. To be honest, I picture Oregon as being a whole lot of nothing. Cliffs, tree, dirt. Am I wrong?

I can imagine. I’m sure it’s beautiful out there. Just also imagine it being a bit boring in certain parts, or as you pointed out, in about 90% of the parts.
