RIFF (reading is fucking fundamental). Where did I compare the Eastern Conferences between those 2 eras? I compared the teams. Both of those teams were garbage without MJ and LBJ. Michael Jordan of that era with his team wasn’t going to beat the teams LeBron lost to.

Uhhhh….no. I’m guessing you didn’t watch basketball in the 80′s. Lebron’s Cavs would best be compared to the Jordan teams of the late 80′s, not mid-80′s.

eh, I watched a little bit. A Dave Corzine, Charles Oakley, Brad Sellers frontcourt was garbage. They brought in a washed up Iceman too, which is the equivalent of bringing in a washed up Shaq. The Jordan of that time was known as a player who had individual greatness but didn’t exhibit the ability to carry a team to victory. His 63 point game in defeat against the Celtics was considered typical of his style of play and lack of team success. Of course he was a great player, but that type of argument was used by people not willing to acknowledge his place next to Magic and Bird at that time. He was a great player without the rings. Sounds familiar? History repeats.

I’m not faulting Lebron for not winning, I’m faulting him for not showing up when those series mattered. If you are great in the conference finals but are average in the finals… you can’t point to the conference finals to support your greatness.

I agree with this. The problem I have with this argument now is that people are quick to focus on Lebron’s physical gifts and gloss over how those have translated in the biggest of moments.
