Rory McIlroy’s Ball Got Stuck in a Tree at the PGA
Rory McIlroy birdied the first two holes today, then did this on his tee shot on three. The ball lodged in the tree, and McIlroy eventually got a free drop and made his par. The leader board is stellar at the PGA. Vijay Singh is now in the lead at 5-under, trying for the “anything you can do, I can do better” match after fellow 40-something Ernie Els won the British. McIlroy just tied him with his third birdie of the day. Tiger Woods is one shot behind right now, after missing opportunities early including a 3-foot birdie putt on #3. Ian Poulter is also within 2 shots of the lead.

Predicted headline for tomorrow’s post:
“Tiger Is 7 Strokes Behind, Can He Rally to Win U.S. Open?”
The post will likely have no mention of the leader or anyone who shot, say, eight under for the third round.

Tiger Is 7 Strokes Behind, Can He Rally to Win U.S. Open
I especially like ESPN’s analysis. Nobody other than Tiger, Phil, or Rory seem to get any coverage until they win. Anybody else 7 strokes behind wouldn’t get any camera time unless they struck an old lady closed fisted in frustration at their shortcomings.

This.
Vijay had yesterday’s best round and went into today tied for the lead, and remains tied for the lead, but the coverage is Tiger Tiger Rory Tiger Mantits Tiger.
On at least one hole today, CBS was showing Rory, cut live to Tiger teeing off, then went to tape to show Vijay teeing off earlier.
