I’m sorry. I love Steve Nash and all, but I can’t root for him to get a ring if: a) it puts a ring Dwight Howard’s finger and b) gives Kobe the same number of titles as MJ. Just can’t do it, Steve. I’ll root for LeBron to fucking repeat before I root for a Dwight and Kobe team.

I’d still take Miami and OKC over the Lakers – Kobe and Nash are too old, this has a little 2004 aroma to it. Should make for a fun season, but we are going to get to the point where the NBA needs to contract to the Knicks, Heat, Lakers, Clippers, Nets and whichever 1-2 small market teams hit the jackpot in the lottery (like OKC).

This team, atleast on paper is infintely better. Nash/Howard/Gasol together are pretty much butter based on their playing styles. The only adjustments that need to be made are by Kobe.

Sounds a lot like “Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton” back in 2004.

That team started off 18-3 and made it to the NBA Finals despite a) Malone’s injury, b) Kobe being accused of rape and clearly not being the same player he was in 2003, c) the Shaqobe beef, and d) absolutely no bench. I mean, Slava Medvedenko got starter’s minutes some games.
