Ray-Ray Armstrong to File Injunction to Get Reinstated to Miami’s Football Team
Finally some frivolous college football legal action that doesn’t involve Penn State. Dismissed Miami safety Ray-Ray Armstrong is filing an injunction to get himself reinstated to the football team. Armstrong was kicked off the team. According to Armstrong’s father, he was dismissed for lying and then admitting to staying in a hotel room in Miami Beach paid by his girlfriend. His girlfriend owns a PR company that represents athletes.
According to his attorney, Armstrong is being made into a “sacrificial lamb” by the NCAA, in order to curry favor ahead of forthcoming sanctions related to the Nevin Shapiro scandal.
“The underlying issue is Ray-Ray was at a hotel with his girlfriend, the girlfriend picked up charges to her personal credit card, so there is no NCAA violation,” Morgan said. “They’re thinking an agent is putting him up in the room but it turns out to be his girlfriend. You can’t avoid hanging out with your girlfriend, just because her occupation happens to be a PR person.”
Not a lawyer, but we can predict this action has an exceedingly small probability of success. Armstrong does not have an inherent right to play football.  Miami neither cut his scholarship nor impinged him transferring to the another institution. The school just disassociated him from the football team. Sure, Miami acted with the upcoming NCAA sanctions in mind. With Armstrong getting in trouble for possible improper benefits again after being suspended twice last season, that should come as no surprise.

Even if this did work, Al Golden will just make him the 4th string punt snapper. What’s the point?
