Seven Samurai on TCM, today 0715 MDT. Today is Kurosawa day on TCM. Watched most of Drunken Angel this morning – it was cold-blooded.

No guarantees but I’ll try to give up the details tomorrow. You can sound the horn, Hawkeye.

Off to go camping (drinking) for the weekend. This will be fun to come home to and read.

Blood Meridian was way too fucking taxing on me to get fully invested in. The Road and No Country, though…wow.

I found it way overrated. Better movies from 1975: Love and Death, Jaws, Taxi Driver, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Nashville, The Man Who Would Be King, Race With the Devil, Rocky Horror, Bite the Bullet, Shampoo, Rancho Deluxe, Three Days of the Condor, Night Moves, Death Race 2000, Tommy. Fuck, even The Apple Dumpling Gang, for fuckssake.

The Stranger and Brave New World

The Plague is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I liked The Stranger but it was nowhere near as good as The Plague. I didn’t much care for Brave New World, but I did like it more than 1984.
