None to the NFL. Except for maybe being able to develop better QBs instead everyone that comes out now being a spread QB. I would imagine it wouldn’t hurt the Universities too much either.

If a full time student is receiving financial aid above the cost of tuition to meet the full cost of attendance, and drops below the necessary hours, they have to pay the financial aid back. I could see them using that logic to get money back from players who don’t graduate.

I see this as part of the problem whereby athletes who would already have turned pro are forced to submit to 4 years of nonsense instead of making 60 million since starting at 18.

I’ve thought this many times. NFL is powerful enough that it COULD in theory start a minor league for NFL prospects out of HS.

False. Nike sponsoring Wayne Rooney does not stop them also sponsoring Manchester United.

Stop trying to make amateur athletics into professional athletics. They are two different things.

The only difference in coverage, compensation, revenue etc. is that the labor isn’t compensated.

I’ve seen that idea in a bunch of places and while it would obviously need to be a bit more detailed, I kind of like the idea of it. Don’t graduate? Don’t get paid. Simple.

Schools run their programs like pro teams in every facet other than player compensation…this doesn’t work

I would give every scholarship athlete the opportunity to pursue endorsements which could be regulated pretty simply along the Olympic model.

There’s already pressure for amateur athletes to make grades while performing at a high level. You start putting money in their pockets and those expectations go way up as does the criticism when they fail to achieve desired goals.

I don’t see anywhere in his post where Duffy is championing both scenerios. He just says that those would work.

Other than that they would work, and wouldn’t answer the question Duffy doesn’t fail to ask. They solve two different issues. I’d like to know which issue Duffy feels is problem.
