Cleveland Browns In Trouble: Joe Haden Faces Possible Suspension After Failed Drug Test, Trent Richardson Going to See Dr. James Andrews
Joe Haden has failed a drug test by having Adderall in his system, according to Tony Grossi, and now faces a possible suspension by the league. Adderall, an ADHD medication, is on the banned substances list as a stimulant. Tyler Sash of the Giants was recently suspended for four games for having the same drug in his system.
Haden is one of the best young cornerbacks in the game and one of the bright spots for the Cleveland Browns in the last two years. If he misses one quarter of the league with a suspension, it will have a major impact on their chances this year.
It’s not the only troubling news out of Cleveland, as Grossi has also said that Trent Richardson will now go see Dr. James Andrews in regard to a sore knee that has been bothering him. The Browns were already going to hold him out of the first preseason game. Let’s hope this isn’t serious.

Well, it is the Browns. This was all bound to happen sooner or later.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
it will have a major impact on their chances this year.
Their chances for what?
August 8th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
Gonna take a whole lotta weed to calm spence down.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:09 PM
I still don’t get the Adderal suspension for Sash. It’s prescribed by a doctor for a treatable condition.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:09 PM
god.
fucking.
damnit.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
God truly does hate Cleveland, sorry.

August 8th, 2012 at 3:13 PM
They never bring in Dr. James Andrews because everything is cool.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
What the fuck. Adderall isn’t a nutritional supplement.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
At least they won’t be a distraction as you enjoy the Bowl Season.

August 8th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
It’s a banned stimulant though.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
I may have to go under 1.5 wins now.

Adderall isn’t a nutritional supplement.
Haden has trouble concentrating on his food
August 8th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
I know. Just seems like an odd thing to include in this story.
Does he and the other guy who got suspended have prescriptions for it? If so, and they’re still getting suspended, that’s just another sign that the NFLPA is the worst union in the world. Including the one that had the guy who made the watch they gave to Steven Spielberg, the Mega Tronics guy, and then shot.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
Condolences, Spence. Hopefully Weeden works out. I find the Browns are really the only team in that division I’d want to see win anything.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
Well, in this case it is totally justified:
typical Browns.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
At least the marketers now know who’s tuning in for the Frys.com Open.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
Sash has a prescription. And agree that DeMaurice Smith is as worthless as tits on a bull.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
focus on your own good team, thankyouverymuch. don’t need cocksucking steeler fans looking down their noses at us just because there weren’t any rules against steroids to drop the steel curtain.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
dude…i wouldn’t miss cordevalle for anything. now the turning stone open? might consider dvr’ing that one.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
Fuck off Mole, you twat

Forget who wrote it but someone on twitter weeks ago said:
“People used to take drugs for fun now people just use them to study and get through life”
August 8th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
What’s funny about this is the amount of “Watch Trent Richardson blow out his knee during the first week of training camp” comments there have been around here since the draft.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
Spence, Trent’s pretty damn durable. He’ll be aight.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:25 PM
proud of your hivemind, i see. THAT’S SO HILARIOUS.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
what I don’t get is there wasn’t any report of him hurting it…just showed up one day not practicing. Maybe it is a precaution or maybe its just life being a browns fan
for what? to get the 1st pick in the draft? They were well on their way already
August 8th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Counterpoint: Alabama used him up.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Here you go spencer, maybe this will calm you down.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Used up? He started one season.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Browns are gonna go all Chinese badmiton on the Jaguars.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Considering that running backs have got to have the shortest shelf life of anyone at this point, I wouldn’t put the tag “durable” on anyone at that position with a knee injury.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
We are just trying to lessen the blow.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
there wasn’t any report of him hurting it…just showed up one day not practicing
It doesn’t take very much to injure a knee. He might not have hurt himself on the field or didn’t notice it at first.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
300 touches last year alone, 300 more the other 2.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
Spence, Trent’s pretty damn durable. He’ll be aight.
Cal Ripken Jr never gave Dr Andrews a visit.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
fuck that…im going to let it simmer. and then when a houston team or SMU has a glimmer of hope that suddenly flickers, im going to drive my giant truck full of salt out of the shadows and dump the entire contents into your open wound.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
Ravens are supposedly looking at Cedric Benson, maybe the Browns need to get on that boat (with the drunk boater).
August 8th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
adderral seems like an odd drig to be on the banned substance list, especially in a sport that doesn’t give two shits about its players.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
considering the investment in players and the drug’s proven awesome effects…im surprised it’s not mandatory.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
300 touches last year alone, 300 more the other 2.
600 in 3 years? That’s not very much. Look at Barry Sanders Heisman campaign or Herschel Walker’s 3 years at Georgia. Touches isn’t a great metric, as Lisk has tried to point out. Some guys are more injury prone than others and certain injuries have a cascade effect
August 8th, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Haha, you think you can salt the wounds of an SMU fan? Are you not aware of our record over the last 25 years? And I’m an Astros fan too. Do your worst.

I think a stiff breeze might be enough to injure him at this point.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE OF HIS GUILT.
cmon naw…this is the type of shit settling for news these days? at least let the test results come back for fuck’s sake.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
I thought S-E-C defenses hit harder, etc.? Anyway, he’s going to the knee fix doc, so something ain’t right.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
tough news, if only because i HATE the other three teams in that division.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
i don’t know why im angry at you but…i hope his dick breaks off in your ass and shit comes out your pussy.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
540 career rushing attempts, 64 career receptions
145 rushes, 16 receptions in 2009
112 rushes, 23 receptions in 2010
283 rushes, 29 receptions last year
So yeah, close to 600
August 8th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
i don’t know why im angry at you but…i hope his dick breaks off in your ass and shit comes out your pussy.
Your anger underscores your desperation.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
Follow the Astros around. They’re more likely to have hope and then fail with that division of juggernauts they’re moving into.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
You’re going to hold onto this for a long, long time it seems.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
at least let the test results come back for fuck’s sake.
even then, i was under the impression that a player needed more than one failed test for suspension.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
Wasn’t Haden busted with the ganj at Florida? Doesn’t that get you into the 1st phase?
August 8th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
THANK YOU

just follow him around with a wet kleenex or maybe a salad. that will hurt him for a few weeks.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
Follow the Astros around. They’re more likely to have hope and then fail with that division of teams with aging stars they’re moving into.
But yes, the first few season in the AL will be rough.

Yes it’s two tests but it’s only from ONE sample. So unless it was a mistake and the same sample comes up clean, he’s gone for four games.
What a union.

Hey Drew Brees … good job, good effort.

Scope out Texas’ minor league system. They’re going to be good for a while. Very, very good. Only two core guys entering their decline really. Beltre (to be replaced by Olt) and Michael Young (DHs can be found).
Also, Mike Trout turned 21 today. And the Athletics average age is 27.8. I do not envy Houston but appreciate them moving out of the NL Central.
August 8th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
Spence, don’t you wish this had happened to you right about now?
I’d rather have the rifle than a TV. That’s a bad-ass AR right there – top of the line.

Hamilton, if he sticks around, has maybe 4 solid years ahead of him. At the most. Napoli is going to be 32 this off season and his numbers are down, though admittedly they are still in line with the four years before last season. The Rangers I think will keep a strong core in place for the next 3-4 years but if they have one or two prospects that don’t meet expectations they could be in a hole after that 3-4 year period. I’d rather the Astros rebuild now rather than when the other teams suck.
