Ivan Ukhov Wins Gold in the Olympic High Jump, Four Years After Showing Up to Meet Drunk
Ivan Ukhov won the gold medal today in the men’s high jump. He did so while jumping in a t-shirt. That’s right, because he had lost his vest, he went out in a standard t-shirt and beat everyone else.
The long-locked Ukhov is now a legend, particularly in light of his previous most memorable moment. Back in 2008, he showed up to a meet drunk and tried to do some high jumping. He failed.

He had great form. Made me wonder how an elite athlete in the nba or otherwise would do with raw jumping ability if trained?

Not that I support banning the Judo dude, but booze is not a banned substance and is not illegal most places.

Beer leagues are freakin’ great. One year, each team went in on a keg for 1B. Lots of singles were hit.

Played 3rd base one night in a softball game where the other team consisted of muscle-bound righties who sensed my extreme inebriation. It was shameful.
