RIP: Columbus Crew Midfielder Kirk Urso Died at 22
Columbus Crew midfielder Kirk Urso died in a Columbus hospital this morning at age 22. The cause of death has not been determined.
Urso was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2012 MLS Draft out of North Carolina, where he was a member of the 2011 NCAA Championship team. He also played for the United States at the 2007 U-17 World Cup.
He had not played since May after having groin surgery. He did not travel with the team to its match with D.C. United on Saturday.
